Chapter 130 Another Story

The three men and the wolf searched everywhere, but after a whole day, they only found some of the information.

"Sister-in-law, look, here's the experimental data on the artificial mermaid." Yu Zhen handed the data to Zhou Siyu, took out an energy bar from her bag and took a bite: "The file is too big, I can only send it to you after we get out."

"Hmm, we'll see when the time comes."

Zhou Siyu glanced at it, took out a bread from her bag and tossed it to Zhou Yu, then took one for herself, opened it, and ate it while feeding the milk-flavored steamed bun.

“I have half of it too,” Zhou Yu said, taking a big bite of bread. “I also found other things that I’m sure you’ll be interested in.”

"What?"

“Another story about the King of Etolan.” Zhou Yu raised an eyebrow. “Very exciting.”

Tell me about it.

"Do you remember that guy who became the king's slave because he married a princess?" Zhou Yu chuckled and squeezed between Zhou Siyu and Yu Zhen. "He did organize an experiment to bring the dead back to life, but not for the princess... but for his lover."

"His lover? Isn't that the princess?"

Yu Zhen was a little confused. Legend has it that the King of Aitolan and his wife, the princess, were deeply in love, and their relationship is still a beautiful story.

“Too small, too narrow-minded.” Zhou Yu shook his head, looking like he was beyond redemption, and calmly dropped a bombshell: “That slave didn’t like the princess, but the princess’s…brother.”

The princess had three older brothers. The eldest brother was resourceful and the best candidate to become the crown prince. The second brother was brave and skilled in battle and was a general who commanded a region. The third brother was learned and talented, and was a poet.

The cliché story begins with the wandering poet's altruistic act and ends with a one-sided, obsessive delusion.

The poet rescued the slave from the whip, gave him a surname and a name, took him by his side, and taught him to read, write, play music, and paint. However, the slave developed inappropriate thoughts.

"It is said that the Third Prince is as beautiful as a flower, and is also a high-level Omega."

Zhou Yu pulled out the documents he had found. The person in the photo had their back to the camera, and when they turned their head slightly, a small part of their profile was visible, as if expressing their dissatisfaction with the person who took the photo.

"Then the Third Prince wouldn't also like slaves, would he?" Yu Zhen took a sip of water, "and then stage a passionate, class-crossing love affair that disregards worldly opinions?"

"You're overthinking it. The Third Prince has a childhood sweetheart fiancé who is a proper nobleman and a good friend of the Second Prince. The two have a great relationship."

Zhou Yu curled his lip. People love to watch princes fall in love with slaves, but no one has ever thought that it is impossible for a prince to fall in love with a slave.

Given the disparity in their social status and class, and their completely incompatible ideologies, how could they possibly come together?

"And then? The slave married the princess and used some despicable means to kill the third prince's fiancé?"

Zhou Siyu didn't care. He wasn't interested in other people's love stories; he only wanted to know if King Etolan's experiment had succeeded.

"More than that." Zhou Yu curled his lip: "He used the Third Prince to sow discord between the Second Prince and the Third Prince's fiancé, causing them to fall out. Then he had the Second Prince die on his way to war, and the Third Prince's fiancé became the prime suspect, was thrown into a death row, and died not long after."

"Where is the emperor? Didn't he notice anything?"

"I don't think the emperor could have been completely unaware of anything, but for some reason, he didn't take any action."

Historical records indicate that the old emperor was an extremely suspicious and easily angered man. He doted on the princess but neglected his three sons.

“The old emperor feared that the eldest prince would usurp the throne and had been constantly on guard against him, which gave the slave an opportunity.” Zhou Siyu bit her lip and thought for a few seconds before saying, “If I were that slave, I would pin all the blame for the second prince’s murder and for sowing discord on the eldest prince, and then spread rumors among the people that the eldest prince was virtuous and talented and was the future of the empire…”

“The old emperor will naturally not sit idly by, and with the evidence provided by the slaves, it will be easy to kill the eldest prince on the spot.”

"The eldest prince will not rebel. In an empire where patriarchy prevails, if the eldest prince rebels, he will be drowned in the spittle of the people. Even if he eventually ascends the throne, he will not have the support of the people."

"When the old emperor calmed down from his anger, he discovered that his two sons were dead, and his third son was spending his days drinking and had no ambition, and was completely incapable of governing the entire empire."

“Blind filial piety, arrogance, and cowardice were the culprits that led to the downfall of the Aitolan royal family.”

Zhou Siyu made a casual summary and then took out some bread to continue feeding the milk-flavored steamed buns.

If the eldest prince had dared to resist, he wouldn't have lost his life; if the second prince had been able to reflect on himself, he wouldn't have lost his friends; and if the third prince had been able to muster the courage to speak the truth, he wouldn't have lost his lover and family.

"Sister-in-law, how do you know all this? What if the Third Prince doesn't realize he's being used?"

Yu Zhen turned her head. Although, the Third Prince was indeed very pitiful, and so was that princess.

"I just found it."

Zhou Siyu tossed out a book, and Yu Zhen and Zhou Yu huddled together to slowly flip through it.

It's less of a book and more of a collection of letters someone wrote haphazardly.

“My father gave me a house with a large garden. Elizabeth brought me some flower seeds, and I planted them in the garden.”

"The tender green shoot is as fragile as a baby. Stars accompany it as it grows. What kind of flower will it bloom into?"

"The sky is filled with vibrant roses, and the sweet fragrance permeates every corner. Like the blazing sun, the young girl waiting for her lover, Ellis and my rose, have finally bloomed."
