"Otherwise what?" Zhou Siyu didn't understand his meaning, and opened her mouth to ask, "You want to check?"
No, no need.
Qin Ge waved his hands repeatedly. He finally understood. This guy took his medicine as readily as he took candy, but he liked to play the victim in front of Yu Wei and deliberately dawdle to avoid taking his medicine.
So, what did the drug do wrong to become part of their game?
Lu Qin quickly handed Zhou Siyu a glass of water, then turned and pushed him out of the room: "Go ahead, thank you."
"Tsk, it's just a few steps away from next door, can't you go by yourself?"
Qin Ge really couldn't understand what Lu Qin and Wu Ming were doing. One of them would be peering out the window every day, while the other clearly cared but avoided seeing them.
"I'm not going." Lu Qin shook his head, looking at the insulated container with regret, "What a pity, I had to go through so much trouble to get this from the cafeteria."
"Tsk, why are you so concerned about Zhou Siyu?"
Qin Ge looked through the small window of the ward door and saw Zhou Siyu sitting on the bed, looking down at the documents intently.
The dappled sunlight slid down his hair and onto the white blanket, bathing him in a warm glow. The oversized hospital gown made him look incredibly thin. The lilies on the table cast perfectly shadows on the pages of his book, instantly enlivening the lifeless room and filling it with a vibrant atmosphere.
Unfortunately, this beautiful scene only had a few months left to live, and Qin Ge felt depressed.
He had witnessed many scenes of life and death, but this was the first time he had directly faced the death of someone close to him.
Lu Qin didn't know the specifics of the twenty-five planets, but he had a vague feeling that something big was about to happen.
A month ago, Yu Wei, who was stationed in Qingjiang, was suddenly transferred to carry out a secret mission. Qingjiang was in chaos and was subsequently attacked by the rebels multiple times. The headquarters held a meeting overnight and sent Zuo Li to Qingjiang overnight to take charge of the overall situation.
Logically, before Yu Wei was transferred, headquarters would have arranged for someone to take over his work in advance, but all the transfers seem strange, as if something unexpected happened to Yu Wei and headquarters was rushing to fix it overnight.
Half a month ago, Lin Ling told Qin Ge the whole story. He understood it perfectly. Although he resented Zhou Siyu for hurting Yu Wei, he still took good care of Zhou Siyu as Lin Ling had instructed.
“He is the captain’s favorite person, and I am the person the captain trusts the most. Isn’t it reasonable for me to take care of him when the captain is not around?”
Lu Qin still preferred to call Yu Wei "Captain," feeling it was more intimate that way. The title "Chairman" was too long and awkward to pronounce.
"I'm speechless." Qin Ge spread his hands and looked at Lu Qin jokingly, "I don't work for free. If you want me to help you, you have to give me something in return."
"What?" Lu Qin looked at him warily: "I won't let you into the armory."
"Tsk, do you think I'm the kind of person who's unreasonable?" Qin Ge curled his lip. "All I want is for you to get me some dinner and bring it over. Is that so hard?"
He simply couldn't squeeze past the group of soldiers, let alone snatch food from the mouths of the energetic new recruits. Even if he managed to get some food, there was nowhere to sit and eat, so he had to shamelessly share a table with Lu Qin.
"Why should I bring you food?" Lu Qin gestured with his hand. "It's only a couple of steps from here to the next room, but it takes me ten minutes to walk from the cafeteria to the hospital."
"Didn't you also bring food to Zhou Siyu?"
"How can this be the same?" Lu Qin looked at Zhou Siyu and then at Qin Ge. "He's a patient, while you're perfectly healthy and able-bodied. What's wrong with walking a few steps to the cafeteria?"
"I just... couldn't compete with them! Your soldiers are so listless during training, but they run faster than rabbits at mealtimes, like they're starving ghosts reincarnated."
"I can only get you food at most," Lu Qin said, shrugging. "Anyway, I can't bring it over."
"Okay, okay, but you have to get my meals for a month..."
"Why are you raising the price on the spot?"
"Just tell me if you're going to do it or not." Qin Ge pointed to the next room and said, "Wu Ming definitely hasn't eaten yet... If I just call him directly..."
"Alright, alright, one month it is." Lu Qin lightly kicked Qin Ge. "Hurry up and send it over."
I thought Zhou Siyu must be hungry after being in a coma for a month, but I didn't expect him to only take a little bit of each thing in his bowl and be full after just one bite. With such a small appetite, no wonder he's getting thinner and thinner.
He originally intended to take the remaining food back to eat, but considering that there was another patient named Wu Ming in the next ward, and adhering to the frugal idea that it was better to eat it on the spot rather than waste energy heating it up, he simply tossed the food to Wu Ming to eat.
Anyway, Zhou Siyu used a different bowl to serve the food, ate the rice with a spoon, and used chopsticks only to pick up food; it was perfectly clean.
Zhou Siyu, who was in the ward, overheard the entire conversation between the two. It wasn't that he was deliberately eavesdropping; rather, his hearing was exceptionally good.
"Zhou Siyu?" The nurse looked at the payment slip in her hand, then at the person on the bed. "Where is your family member? You need a family member's signature to be discharged."
“He’s on assignment, I can sign it.” Zhou Siyu took the form and smiled slightly. “Thank you.”
The nurse's face flushed red, and she waved her hands repeatedly, saying, "You're welcome."
How can someone be so beautiful and gentle?! My heart is melting.
"By the way, how's Old Wu, Wu Ming, who lives next door?"
Zhou Siyu handed the form back to the nurse and asked casually.
"Not really..."
"Chatting?" Qin Ge suddenly pushed open the door, interrupting their conversation. He gave the nurse who was removing an IV a wink, and said with a smile but a cold voice, "You must not disclose patients' privacy at will. Didn't the hospital's training staff teach you that?"
