Chapter 140 Choice

"After saying all that, you should understand what I mean."

Grandpa Yu looked at Zhou Siyu meaningfully, and Zhou Siyu was a little confused. "What?"

“You had no choice in your marriage to Xiao Wei, and we’ve never given you a proper ceremony, so now I want to give you a choice.” Grandpa Yu took off the black ring on his hand. “This contains the Yu family’s most core secrets and is also a symbol of the person in power.”

“It’s too valuable, I can’t accept it.” Zhou Siyu shook his head repeatedly: “I’m an outsider… it’s not appropriate for me to accept it.”

"An outsider?" Grandpa Yu sighed. "I didn't expect that after all these years, you would still consider yourself an outsider." After saying that, he waved his hand and said self-deprecatingly, "I thought you were part of this family too."

"I'm sorry." Zhou Siyu took a step back, her hands hanging naturally at her sides. "The burden of the Yu family is too heavy for me. Let's leave it to the most suitable person."

Not to mention that elders like Yu Mao and Lin Ling are still alive, and it's not his turn to inherit the family business, given his current health and the fact that he doesn't know how many more months he has left to live, he doesn't dare to take on the task.

"Think about it again." Grandpa Yu sighed, full of regret. "If only you had come to the Yu family sooner."

If he had met Zhou Siyu earlier, he would definitely have been able to train him into a qualified successor.

“My eldest uncle, aunt, second uncle, second uncle-in-law, and Uncle Lin are all more qualified than me to inherit the family business. Besides, there are Yuzhen and Yucong. If we nurture them well, they will surely become great people in time.” Zhou Siyu patted the mud off his trousers and said sincerely, “Furthermore, Grandpa, you are in good health and there is no need to rush to find an heir.”

"I'm getting old." Grandpa Yu waved his hand and laughed self-deprecatingly. "If my eldest, second, and third sons were any more sensible, I would have retired long ago and enjoyed my old age. And Xiao Wei, if he had been more mature earlier, I wouldn't have to worry about the family business now. I could just enjoy my grandchildren and the joys of family life. How wonderful that would be."

His three sons and daughters-in-law are all excellent in their respective fields, but they know nothing about business. Although Lin Ling is meticulous, he is not interested in running a company and devotes himself to research.

Although Yu Zhen has talent in this area, he can only work as an assistant.

Yu Cong is another story altogether; he's obsessed with becoming an outstanding politician and treats Old Man Lin better than his own grandfather.

Yu Wei is bold yet meticulous. His grandfather was very confident in entrusting the army to him, but precisely because of this, he didn't have much energy to manage the family business.

After looking at it all, Zhou Siyu is still the most suitable.

He is experienced, capable, and able to manage people, keeping those unruly relatives in check. He is courageous, resourceful, and a born businessman.

“Grandpa, you’re still young. There’s really no need to find an heir so early.” Zhou Siyu held Grandpa Yu’s hand and looked at the distant mountains behind the castle to change the subject: “Let’s go hunting in the mountains tomorrow. Let’s ride horses.”

"Horse riding? You've learned how?"

"No," Zhou Siyu said, scratching his head sheepishly. "We still have time to study this afternoon."

"You little rascal, you've got me all set up perfectly." Grandpa Yu chuckled and scolded, "Aren't you worried I might have other things to do this afternoon?"

“It’s okay. If we have something to do this afternoon, we can learn tomorrow morning. If we have something to do tomorrow morning, we can learn tomorrow afternoon.” Zhou Siyu smiled and hugged Grandpa Yu’s arm, rubbing her face against him. She looked up at him with her bright eyes and said playfully, “Anyway, you promised to teach me, so you can’t go back on your word.”

"You're quite good at making arrangements." Grandpa Yu laughed heartily and patted the back of his hand: "Since you've said so, I'll teach you properly this afternoon, and you should study hard too. Don't be lazy like last time."

Last time, Zhou Siyu was excited to learn to ride a horse, but before she could even get on, the horse kicked her hoof and scared her away. She made an excuse to drink water and ran off to sleep under a big tree.

"No, no." Zhou Siyu held up two fingers and said seriously, "I promise to learn diligently."

"If you don't study hard, I'll give you a good whack." Grandpa Yu gently flicked Zhou Siyu's forehead and pulled him along, saying, "Come on, Grandpa will take you to see something good."

There is a private zoo at the foot of the mountain behind the Yu family's house, which houses many animals.

Grandpa Yu and Zhou Siyu stopped in front of a wooden fence. Grandpa Yu put his hand to his mouth and whistled. A white figure quickly darted to their side.

Something tugged at Zhou Siyu's trouser leg, and he looked down to meet a pair of purple eyes that looked like glass beads.

Upon closer inspection, wow, this thing was covered in pure white fur without a single blemish. It had a sheep's head, deer antlers, a wolf's body, two long whiskers on either side of its nose, tiger-like claws gripping its legs, nine fluffy tails swaying back and forth, and big, blinking eyes.

"It's not a sheep, not a deer, not a wolf, not a tiger, not a fox, and this little thing is... quite unique in appearance."

Zhou Siyu stroked the little animal's fluffy head, stroking it again and again. The fluffy feel melted his heart, and he wished he could take it home immediately.

"Awoo..."

A low growl came from not far away, and a white figure leaped onto a boulder, hunched over, staring intently at Zhou Siyu.

"Milk-flavored steamed buns?"

Zhou Siyu tentatively called out, and the white figure paused for a moment before rushing to Zhou Siyu's side and sniffing around him.

"You've gotten bolder? Daring to yell at your dad now?" Zhou Siyu raised an eyebrow and slapped the milk-flavored steamed bun on the head. "Tomorrow's canned food will be halved."

"Waaaaah~"

Milk-flavored steamed bun stretched out its front paws and pressed them onto Zhou Siyu's feet, then rested its head on its paws, staring at Zhou Siyu with its innocent big eyes.

"After you came out of the secret realm, Xiao Wei had someone send the wolf fox to me."

Since the base couldn't keep pets, and Yu Zhen and Zhou Yu were injured to varying degrees, and no one could take care of Nai Xiang Mantou, Yu Wei thought it over and decided to leave Yu Zhen and Nai Xiang Mantou to Grandpa Yu to take care of.
