The pressure on his waist eased, and Yu Wei drew his dagger to sever the vines, which instantly retracted. Using the momentum of the wriggling creature's sway, Yu Wei leaped onto its head, pulled out his long sword, and plunged it straight into the wriggling's neck.
A foul-smelling black liquid gushed out, the worm swayed and collapsed to the ground, and the vines immediately withered and shrank back into the ground.

The soldier stepped forward, pulled Yu Wei out of the tentacles, and helped him sit down to the side.
