After packing her things and returning home, Zhou Siyu locked herself in her room, cutting off all contact with the outside world.
Lin Ling, who rushed over after receiving Yu Wen's message, was both angry and anxious, and pounded on the door of the room.
"Zhou Siyu, open the door!"
Lin Ling pressed her face against the door, but there was no sound from inside. The door was too thick; she couldn't hear any breathing at all.
After knocking for half a minute without any response, Lin Ling thought for a moment, then took out a wire from his pocket, intending to "technically" unlock the lock.
"Uncle Lin? What brings you here?"
Zhou Siyu had a messy, disheveled appearance, dark circles under his eyes, and bloodshot eyes, looking like a vengeful ghost that had just crawled out of a coffin.
“Yu Wen said you locked yourself in your room and wouldn’t eat or drink. I’m afraid you’ll kill yourself.”
林瓴恨不得揍他一顿,周斯羽要是有什么三长两短,他怎么和周羽交代?难道托梦告诉他,你儿子为情所困,绝食自尽?
“You’re overthinking it.” Zhou Siyu scratched his head and yawned. “Please sit on the sofa for a while.”
After saying that, he turned and walked towards the bathroom.
"You went to take a shower without eating after staying up all night, be careful you don't die suddenly!"
Lin Ling called out, then sighed, still worried. What if something really happened? Let's wait and see here.
Lin Ling drew back the curtains, sunlight dispelling the darkness, and her gaze fell upon a pile of manuscripts and various scientific magazines on the bed and floor.
"Environmental Analysis of Planet Twenty-Seven", "The Light of Aitulan - The Secret Laboratory", "Ten Deadly Sins of the Aitulan Biological Laboratory", "Preliminary Statistical Report on Escaped Mutant Species from the Aitulan Laboratory"...
The manuscript was filled with all sorts of terrain analyses, all of which Zhou Siyu copied from images transmitted back by drones, as well as the approximate appearances of some plant and animal samples brought back by researchers.
Lin Ling knew that Zhou Siyu had perfectly inherited the best qualities of both his fathers; he was not only a biological genius but also possessed a photographic memory. His decision to leave the Oran Laboratory was truly a great loss to the biological community.
"What were you found?"
Lin Ling held the manuscript, her gaze fixed intently on Zhou Siyu, who had just emerged from the bathroom.
Zhou Siyu was his favorite student, but not his ideal daughter-in-law. He always felt that Yu Wei should marry a gentle, considerate, and well-mannered Omega.
“We’ve discovered quite a few things.” Zhou Siyu said, picking up a towel and drying her hair. “Although the ecology of the secret realm is complex, it’s not entirely chaotic.”
"Centered on the Etolan Laboratory, four ecosystems have formed. The laboratory itself has four distinct seasons and the temperature and humidity are very suitable for survival. Adjacent to the laboratory is the dense forest ecosystem, which has high air humidity and small temperature differences. It is also the most dangerous place, filled with miasma and a habitat for mutated snakes, insects, rodents, and ants. The area near the dense forest, the shrouded grass, has large temperature differences, but there is no extreme weather with scorching sun and blizzards. No large creatures live there, and the few small creatures that are almost no threat to humans. The outermost part is the area between the protective wall and the shrouded grass. The climate is the same as other parts of Planet Twenty-Seven: scorching sun with snow, large temperature differences, and frequent extreme weather."
"That's good, anything else?"
Lin Ling praised Zhou Siyu for piecing together the confidential information of the Oran Laboratory from the fragmented data, saying it was quite impressive.
"Although there are many creatures in the dense forest, they have a strong sense of territory and there are mutual constraints between them."
According to survivors, the forest is known to have at least two large sections. The ghost hand vine and the giant snake each occupy a small area, the giant lizard that left footprints should have occupied another place, and there is also a large creature that left only bones, which must have been a dominant force before it died.
"You want to go in?"
“I don’t believe he’s dead.” Zhou Siyu’s eyes darkened. “Unless I see his body.”
“I don’t want to believe it either, but I won’t allow you to go in and take the risk.” Lin Ling sighed and handed a report to Zhou Siyu: “This is the data monitored by the life monitoring system. Although it’s incredible, it’s enough to prove that Xiao Wei is still alive, at least on that day.”
"I'm going to find him."
A flame ignited in Zhou Siyu's dark eyes, growing stronger and stronger, and the lifeless man finally came to life.
“But the monitoring system hasn’t transmitted any more data about him since then,” Lin Ling sighed. “And we don’t know when the thunderstorms on the twenty-seventh planet will end.”
Everyone said it was a system bug, or a last flicker of life, because for just that one second, it showed that Yu Wei might not be dead. But it was only a possibility, and no one wanted to risk everything for such a slim chance.
Yu Zhen is currently in the hospital, Lin Gu is about to take up a post on the 18th planet, and Chu Yunmu's condition is not good either. Besides, even Yu Wei has perished inside, so there's no way anyone would dare to go in.
“I’m going to find him.” Zhou Siyu lowered her eyes. “I’m the one who leaked the information to Yu Wei, so I’m responsible.”
“You’re too naive.” Lin Ling shook her head. “At the time, we blocked the news, sent people to monitor suspicious persons 24 hours a day, and did not allow medical staff other than Qin Ge to get close. Moreover, the news was not brought in by Yu Wen. It was Xiao Wei who heard it on a passerby’s broadcast when he went for a walk in the corridor.”
"Want to take a walk in the corridor?"
Zhou Siyu was speechless and went for a walk in the corridor. Had Yu Wei left his brain in the IV drip?
“I was also surprised. At that time, Xiao Wei should have been taking a nap. Besides, there were people guarding outside. He wouldn’t have slipped out for no reason.”
Yu Wei cherishes his freedom, but he would never implicate others. Yu Zhen had told Yu Wei that the guards' duty was to protect him, and dereliction of duty would be severely punished. Although Yu Wei was dissatisfied, he obediently stayed in his room and showed no unusual behavior until that day.
