Chapter 6 I Don't Like You

"Oh, is something wrong?"

Yu Wei counted them carefully on his fingers, one by one.

"Besides, he saved my life. Shouldn't he repay me with his body, as the book says?"

"puff!"

Lin Gu spat out a mouthful of wine. What century is this plot from? Where did Yu Wei see all this?

"He saved you? When is that due?"

Yu Wei was in poor health as a child and spent most of his time in the hospital. After the age of eleven, he was sent to the Alliance Youth Military Training Base and later traveled around with the army. It was impossible for him to have any interaction with Zhou Siyu.

"I remember the time I was kidnapped."

"When you were nine years old?"

This incident caused a huge uproar back then. A group of fugitives kidnapped Yu Wei as a hostage in an attempt to exchange him for their leader. In the end, Yu Wei escaped on his own, and the fugitives were all captured.

"Yeah, at the time I thought I wasn't going to survive."

Yu Wei smiled. At that time, he was very weak and timid. He had never seen anyone who looked so fierce.

Moreover, they were very cruel. They didn't give him food or water, and they didn't care when he was sick. They even left him alone in a dark and empty place when it thundered.

One day he had a fever, and in his delirium he felt something cool on his forehead, which felt very comfortable.

The next day, he saw a thin, small person squatting beside him, muttering, "How can these lunatics be both stupid and blind? Do I look like I'm rich? Zhou Sijue is richer than me, why don't they tie him up?"

"It would be great to tie him up; Zhou Qi would definitely pay a large sum of money to ransom him."

Noticing the movement behind him, the little man turned around, glanced at Yu Wei, and said with surprise, "Oh! You're still alive."

Yu Wei blinked. Shouldn't he be alive?

Although the first meeting was unpleasant, the unpleasantness quickly dissipated, and within half a day they were having fun together and starting to chat about everything under the sun.

Yu Zhen was quick to find the person, but he was afraid the kidnappers would kill him and dared not act rashly, yet he was unwilling to let the tiger return to the mountain.

This group of fugitives committed numerous heinous crimes, especially their leader, whose offenses were too numerous to count.

“Shouting with a megaphone like this won’t do any good.” Zhou Siyu sat cross-legged on the ground, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at Yu Wei beside her: “Your dad is such a coward, he doesn’t dare to make a move even with so many people around.”

“He’s not a coward!” Yu Wei said weakly, his rebuttal lacking confidence: “He’s just afraid I’ll get hurt.”

"That sounds nice, but why doesn't he release that person to exchange for you?"

Zhou Siyu rolled her eyes. To put it bluntly, she was still a coward. If she changed the plan, she couldn't silence the public opinion. If she didn't change it, her only son would die.

“He won’t change.” Yu Wei shook his head and sighed. “I don’t want him to change.”

“That person did a lot of bad things. Many uncles sacrificed themselves to catch him, and if he is released, even more people will be hurt.”

"So you want to righteously choose to sacrifice yourself for others?" Zhou Siyu pulled a sharp shard of glass from his pocket and threw it on the ground: "You don't need this thing in your half-dead state."

Yu Wei felt a little embarrassed and coughed a few times, covering his mouth. Zhou Siyu was right; in his condition, he wouldn't live more than a few days.

"What do you think they'll do if they find out you're gone?"

Zhou Siyu looked up at the wall and spoke thoughtfully. Yu Wei followed his gaze and saw that the dark exhaust vent looked like a giant mouth, or a door leading to the light.

"You can't get up there."

Yu Wei shook his head. He realized on the second day after he was captured that this height was far beyond what he and Zhou Siyu could reach.

“The exhaust vent is inanimate, but people are alive.” Zhou Siyu pointed to the bricks in the corner. “Move them all here, and you can climb up by stepping on my shoulders.”

"Then what will you do?"

Yu Wei looked the man up and down, who was half a head shorter than him and as thin as a bamboo pole, and shook his head repeatedly. No, no, he couldn't let him stay.

"I wouldn't dare step on you if you looked like you were about to die at any moment," Zhou Siyu thought to himself, then waved his hand and said, "I don't know your father, and I can't go out to get help."

Although she didn't want to admit it, Zhou Siyu was indeed very envious of Yu Wei, who had such a loving father and so many people who cared about him.

Under Yu Wei's questioning gaze, Zhou Siyu took Yu Wei's hand and said solemnly, "So, Young Master Yu, you have to get out of here alive so that we can both survive."

Yu Wei was inspired by his words and said with a determined look in his eyes, "We all have to get out of here alive."

Zhou Siyu nodded, inwardly complaining, "As expected of a naive young master, so easily brainwashed. No wonder he was kidnapped."

Without further ado, the two began diligently carrying bricks. Several times, the sound of a lock being opened came from the doorway. Yu Wei immediately coughed violently, and Zhou Siyu shouted at the top of her lungs, "Help! Someone help! Someone's going to die!"

The kidnappers, who were already used to it, didn't take it seriously and even thought that this was normal.

Kids are kids, it's normal for them to be a little noisy.

Between carrying bricks, the two would chat quietly.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

"Join the army." Yu Wei's eyes shone brightly, like sparkling gems, "to become someone who protects others like my father."

"I wish you all your dreams come true." Zhou Siyu rubbed his sore hands: "I want to be a businessman, make lots and lots of money, live in the biggest house and sleep in the softest bed."

“Dad said that as long as I eat well and take good care of my health, he will send me to the Alliance Youth Military Base.”

Zhou Siyu was speechless. So this is why this guy would rather get beaten up than not eat?

"Your dad... well, he's a really good dad."

Besides this sentence, Zhou Siyu really couldn't think of any other words to follow up.

The plan went smoothly. Yu Wei found Yu Zhen, rescued Zhou Siyu, and captured all the fugitives.

Yu Wei continued to stay in a VIP ward to recuperate. The Zhou family sent someone to pick up Zhou Siyu. Before parting, the two sat on the hospital steps and chatted.

"Yu Wei, you will definitely become an outstanding person like your father."

"I will try my best," Yu Wei said with a smile. "When I grow up, I will definitely protect everyone."

Zhou Siyu chuckled and said, "Hey, you're not including me in the list of everyone you're talking about, are you? I'm your savior."

"Of course not." Yu Wei stood up and shouted to the sky, "Yu Wei will always protect Zhou Siyu..."

"Wow, so you guys had this backstory." Lin Gu hiccuped and smacked his lips. "Then you can't call this liking someone."

"Isn't that right?" Yu Wei blinked in confusion, slowly turning her head. "Then what's it called?"

"What you call a sense of responsibility has absolutely nothing to do with liking something."

You don't understand.

"Nonsense, I know more than you."

The two argued about "whether you understand" for half the night before finally falling asleep back to back on the steps at the crack of dawn.

Zhou Siyu, who hadn't had a night of fun, yawned as she came downstairs. Seeing the two people sleeping soundly at the door and the empty bottle on the ground, she turned around and went upstairs to call Yu Zhen to come down and bring the people.
