Chapter 77 Oh, my dear father!

A blinding flash of light swept across the area, and as the sparks quickly faded, the transport ship that emerged from the deep blue sea disappeared from sight as if it had never existed.

The train roared past, as if nothing had happened, with only a small gap in the glass tunnel ceiling telling the story of what had occurred a few seconds earlier.

As the transport ship slowed down, everyone breathed a sigh of relief and stared at the back of the pilot in the driver's seat.

"Activate...autopilot..."

"Autopilot mode has been activated..."

Yu Wei let out a long sigh, trembling as he unbuckled his seatbelt, and slowly got up. Before he could take a step, his eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the ground.

"Yuwei!"

"General!"

Qin Ge quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, rushed to Yu Wei's side, and together with the others, turned Yu Wei, who was face down, over so that he lay flat on the ground.

After checking Yu Wei over and confirming that he was alright, Qin Ge breathed a sigh of relief and plopped down on the ground.

"Dr. Qin, the general..."

"It's nothing, he was just under a lot of stress and his body couldn't handle it, so he fainted." Qin Ge walked to the chair, squatted down, pressed a button, and the chair reclined into a simple bed. Then the two of them worked together to lift Yu Wei onto the bed. Qin Ge wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Just get him a blanket and let him rest for a while."

After flying for several days, the transport ship finally reached the territory of the Second Star Sector before running out of energy. After landing successfully, Yu Wei completed the handover procedures and safely sent the war criminal prisoners to the military region prison to await trial by the military region court.

Stepping out of the prison gates, Qin Ge could no longer contain himself and began to let loose, pulling Yu Wei into his car and taking him around to eat, drink, and have fun.

"You're so excited, anyone who didn't know better would think you'd been inside." Yu Wei glanced at Qin Ge, placed one hand on the sports car door, and stared blankly at the trees and streetlights that kept receding along the roadside.

"Hey, I really just came out of there."

Qin Ge, with one hand on the steering wheel, executed a stylish lane change and drift to overtake the slow-moving vehicle in front, his sharply defined face full of pride and arrogance.

"You seem like a spoiled brat."

Yu Wei rolled his eyes. How could a doctor be so wild at heart?

Does that mean that all seemingly gentle people have a wild boy inside them?

"Tch." Qin Ge snorted disdainfully, smoothly gliding into the parking space. "If it weren't for you, I would have been a spoiled rich kid long ago, living a life of leisure and comfort."

He was a man without much ambition or dreams. He only wanted to inherit his father's substantial fortune, find a beautiful wife, have a bunch of kids to dote on, spend his days shopping, walking his birds, fishing, and gardening, and have time to drink, play ball, and catch up with old friends. His life couldn't be more comfortable.

However, he, who was determined to give up, met Comrade Yu Wei, who had lofty ambitions. He was influenced by Yu Wei and began to have the ambition to defend his home and the alliance.

However, his ambitions were cut short as his own father changed his career path, turning him from a soldier into a military doctor.

"What does this have to do with me?" Yu Wei rolled his eyes at him irritably and unbuckled his seatbelt: "The trouble I'm carrying now is enough for me to run a shop for hundreds of years."

"Just kidding." Qin Ge pulled out the key, his tone somewhat sad: "But if it weren't for you, I guess I would have been working as a sewing machine long ago."

There are always times of confusion in life. He was trapped in a dark cage, unable to escape, struggling incessantly, as countless hands tried to drag him into hell and crush him.

Whenever he felt confused or lost, Yu Wei became the only person he could confide in, the one who pulled him out of the darkness.

"Nonsense, with your small frame, even the prison guards would complain that you're too slow at operating a sewing machine." Yu Wei pushed open the door and got out of the car, glancing back at Qin Ge: "Didn't you say you'd treat me to dinner?"

"Tsk, I really owe you one."

Qin Ge sighed, got out of the car, and led the way.

Yu Wei always manages to ruin the atmosphere when others are getting emotional. I really don't know how Zhou Siyu managed not to beat him up.

However, Yu Wei always seemed to be like this: emotionally stable, calm and collected, as warm as the sun, yet always with a sense of distance that made people feel that he was unreal, as perfect as a robot programmed by someone.

The two found a restaurant and sat down. There weren't many people at this time, and the food was quickly served. Yu Wei rubbed his hands together, drooling as he looked at the delicious-looking food.

Qin Ge, however, was drawn to the news being played by the shopkeeper. Holding his cutlery, he remained motionless, a smile playing on his lips as he looked at Yu Wei.

Aren't you going to eat?

Yu Wei raised his head and turned his head in confusion, following Qin Ge's gaze.

The news was showing footage of the transport ship narrowly missing the tunnel a few days earlier, a scene described by the media as "a brush with death."

The command and driving team, led by Yu Wei, naturally became heroes and were praised extensively.

Yu Wei lowered his eyes, concealing the emotions within.

It's ridiculous. He was the one who caused the crisis. He was just doing his job and trying to salvage his mistake, yet he's being called a hero.

Qin Ge seemed to have guessed his thoughts, smiled, and lowered his head to eat.

Those who survived the disaster don't care who caused it; they only know that they survived and are grateful to the heroes who saved them.

Great people's achievements are always real, but their mistakes are left to history.

After eating and drinking his fill, Yu Wei patted his belly contentedly, picked up the fruit the restaurant had given him, and leaned back in his seat to eat it.

The communicator kept flashing. Yu Wei glanced at it and saw it was his adoptive father, Yu Zhen. After greeting Qin Ge, Yu Wei quickly found a corner to answer the call.
