Chapter 86 Human nature is treacherous, and the human heart is unpredictable.

The drone-like device in the air was a newly deployed surveillance system by the alliance, capable of capturing high-definition images of everyone. Yu Wei pulled down his hat, lowered his head, and mingled with the crowd as he walked into a street.

"I bought flowers, I bought flowers! Fresh roses, fragrant lilies, sweet gardenias..."

Suddenly, Yu Wei's sleeve was tugged, and he stopped in his tracks, turning to look at the timid little boy.

"Brother...would you like to buy flowers?"

"No..." The words of refusal melted the moment she saw the pleading in the boy's eyes. Yu Wei lowered her eyes, took out some money from her pocket and handed it to the boy, then took a few roses from the basket. "Thank you."

"Thank you, brother..."

The boy laughed and ran away. Yu Wei watched his small figure disappear into the crowd, then lowered her head and smelled the rose.

He bought flowers, but didn't know who to give them to.

Oh well, I'll just treat it as buying myself a bouquet of flowers.

Yu Wei, holding the flowers, turned into a coffee shop, found a seat, ordered some simple food, and rested his chin on his hand on the table, idly fiddling with the flowers in his hand.

A figure blocked the light. Yu Wei slightly raised his eyelids, and when he saw that the person was not the boss, he lowered his eyes in disappointment.

"You are very beautiful."

The visitor seemed unconcerned, sitting sideways in the chair with one hand resting on the back. Several buttons on his white shirt were undone, making his neck appear even longer.

"Thanks."

Yu Wei continued to fiddle with the roses. He had always disliked people who approached him because of his appearance, which made him feel like an object, a beautiful vase for others to admire.

"Could I have your contact information?"

The newcomer revealed what he thought was a beautiful smile, his eyes filled with a hint of wicked arrogance, casually toying with the cup on the table to conceal his ulterior motives.

"I'm sorry, I have a family."

Yu Wei smiled politely, which appeared as shyness and embarrassment to the visitor.

"My God, you're so young, why would you jump into the grave of marriage?"

The visitor was quite surprised. Yu Wei looked to be only about twenty years old, perhaps just coming of age, which was especially remarkable in an era when the average age of marriage was in the thirties to forties and the average lifespan was one hundred years.

Yu Wei has excellent lifestyle habits, and coupled with the almost immortal Lianmu grass gene she carries, she can almost achieve eternal youth.

“Because of love.” Yu Wei pointed to the clock in the corner of the table. “It’s 8:30 now, half an hour before work starts…”

"Oh shit!"

The person muttered a curse under their breath, returned to their seat, gulped down the coffee in their cup, grabbed their coat and briefcase, and dashed out the door.

"Fresh roses need to be well cared for. If you handle them like this, they probably won't survive until today."

The owner, wearing an apron, placed a cake and a piece of bread on Yu Wei's table, then brought over a glass of milk. He sat opposite Yu Wei, quietly looking at the flowers on the table, as if he could see familiar faces through the roses.

"If you don't mind, you can take it."

Yu Wei took a sip of milk and looked up at the man in front of her with a calm expression.

Her long, slightly wavy golden hair was tied back with a light blue ribbon. Her delicate eyebrows and eyes were like those of an angel who had stepped out of a painting. Her azure eyes were like a clear spring, and her fair skin was as smooth as a freshly peeled hard-boiled egg, without a single blemish.

A strikingly similar face flashed into Yu Wei's mind, and he was slightly taken aback. Sometimes, having too good a memory isn't necessarily a good thing.

"You must have bought these from Xiao Jie at the end of the street?" The man smiled, picked up the flowers on the table, and gently sniffed them. "I can't just take your things for free, so I'll waive the meal fee as an exchange."

"That child looks only five or six years old, why isn't he going to school?"

Yu Wei lowered his eyes and ate his breakfast, speaking casually.

“His parents were half-orcs and were executed during the recent citizen demonstration. He only has a bedridden, paralyzed grandmother at home.” The man gently stroked the flowers in his arms, his tone flat and his expression indifferent: “Private school tuition is expensive, and since there was no one to take care of his grandmother, the child dropped out of school.”

"A march?" Yu Wei frowned slightly. "Don't large-scale marches require government approval? Besides, the Alliance's newly issued decree already stipulates that both orcs and ordinary people are citizens of the Alliance..."

"That's just what the law stipulates." The man's indifferent eyes finally showed a different light, and the sadness in his eyes was quickly replaced by calm. "Ideals are always beautiful."

“Indeed.” Yu Wei nodded in agreement, then added after a pause, “But if ideals are more cruel than reality, then it would be too painful.”

"You're right, people should always have beautiful dreams about life."

The man's smile didn't reach his eyes. He took the flowers, slowly got up, and walked to the kitchen, seemingly busy with something.

Yu Wei peered through the glass at the people coming and going on the street, slowly finished his breakfast, straightened his clothes, took out some money and put it under the tissue box, put on his hat, and pushed open the door to leave.

Life is full of disappointments, but you should always give yourself some hope.

"Buzzing..."

The helicopter roared through the sky, and a dark object fell in a parabolic arc.

After dropping several bombs, it crashed straight into a towering office building, cutting the skyscraper in half and sending a cloud of dust engulfing the clear sky.

"Bang!"

The bomb exploded just across the street, the towering flames were extremely blinding, and the windows on both sides of the road shattered under the huge energy surge.

Yu Wei raised his hand to shield his face, letting the shards of glass hit his leather jacket with a "swish, swish" sound, much like fine rain gliding across leaves.
