The return flight was quiet; some passengers closed their eyes to rest, while others hung their heads in deep thought, a far cry from the lively atmosphere of the journey there.
"ha……"
Lin Gu touched his neck and slowly sat up. Which little brat dared to play dirty tricks on him?
"Major General Lin, you're awake? Are you thirsty? Are you hungry?"
Wu Ming put down his book and buzzed around Lin Gu like a little bee.
"I'm not thirsty or hungry." Lin Gu looked around, then frowned and asked, "Where's Yu Wei? Didn't you go to rescue him?"
"General Yu..."
Wu Ming lowered his head, not daring to utter a sound.
"What's wrong with him? Tell me!" Lin Gu grabbed Wu Ming by the collar. "Tell me, what's wrong with him?"
"He's dead." Zhou Siyu opened his eyes, his tone flat, his eyes devoid of joy or sorrow: "He's dead, he died in the secret realm."
"You're talking nonsense! He won't die!" Lin Gu slumped back into his chair like a deflated balloon, covering his face, tears streaming through his fingers: "How could he die..."
"Why didn't you save him?" Lin Gu raised his head and murmured to himself, "Why? Why wouldn't you let me save him?"
He wants you to live.
Zhou Siyu handed the earphones to Lin Gu, who then took them and put them on.
"Everyone... retreat immediately..."
"I'm sorry... I... broke my promise..."
"sorry……"
"sorry……"
Lin Gu played the last sentence over and over again, as if Yu Wei were whispering beside him.
"Yu Wei, you liar!"
Lin Gu threw down his headphones, lowered his head, and trembled all over.
We clearly agreed to share the hardships together, we clearly agreed to die on the same day, month, and year, and we clearly promised to come back!
How should he face Yu Zhen, Qin Ge, and Chu Yunmu? How should he tell them that he, Lin Gu, is a coward who abandoned his brothers and ran away when they were in danger?
Zhou Siyu leaned back in her chair, tilting her head and staring blankly out the window.
For some reason, when Lin Gu brought Chu Yunmu back, his first priority was not to check on Chu Yunmu's condition, but to look for Yu Wei.
That familiar face never appeared. He panicked, but still clung to the hope that Yu Wei was just temporarily held back by something and would return soon.
That face never appeared until the last group returned to the camp. He appeared calm on the surface, but his heart was in turmoil.
A voice told him, "Perhaps... he really won't be coming back..."
Another voice immediately retorted: "No, he will come back!"
Two voices argued back and forth in her mind. Frustrated, Zhou Siyu closed her eyes and silently recited the Heart-Cleansing Mantra.
Due to the large number of wounded, the spacecraft had to stop halfway to transfer the wounded.
Chu Yunmu, who had been in a coma, has also woken up, but he is very weak. His specific condition will only be known after a medical examination.
"You can disembark from the spaceship here." Lu Qin handed Zhou Siyu his things. "We'll keep this a secret, and we hope you'll keep it quiet too."
Zhou Siyu sighed, took the backpack and slung it over his shoulder, stepped out of the spaceship, and was immediately hit with a solid punch as soon as he landed.
"Zhou Siyu! You fucking explain to me how Yu Wei knew Yun Mu was in danger!" Qin Ge's eyes widened in anger as he grabbed Zhou Siyu by the collar: "You knew he would risk everything to save Yun Mu, so why did you send him to his death?"
He thought Yu Wen came to the hospital to see him, but it turned out he was there to deliver a message. No matter how much he guarded against it, it was hard to guard against a traitor within the family. He and Yu Zhen had cut off all contact between Yu Wei and the outside world, but they never expected that all their efforts would be in vain.
"I did it." His tone was neither sad nor happy, as casual as if he were talking about what to eat today. "I told Yu Wei the news, and I wanted him to go and save Chu Yunmu."
"Why?" Qin Ge lowered his hands, his lips trembling slightly. "The alliance has so many people who can go to rescue Yun Mu, why must it be Yu Wei who goes?"
“How would I know if you ask me?” Zhou Siyu straightened his collar. “He is an adult and has the ability to make his own judgments. I was just respecting his right to know.”
"On the contrary, you kept the news so tightly under wraps. Did you even consider how he felt?"
"I don't care about feelings what the hell! I just want him to live!" Qin Ge took a deep breath. "Only the living can have feelings! You respected his feelings, and he's gone, he's dead! Are you satisfied now?"
"Yu Wei must be blind to have fallen for a monster like you, who's more like a machine than a robot!"
As Qin Ge spoke, he clenched his fist and aimed it straight at Zhou Siyu's face. Zhou Siyu frowned and was about to raise his hand when the fist stopped just in front of him.
"That's enough, what's the point of making a scene like this?"
Chu Yunmu gripped Qin Ge's fist, covered his mouth, coughed violently, and swayed as if he would fall over.
"You're still protecting him!"
Qin Ge was furious but helpless, and directed his men to carry Chu Yunmu onto the spaceship.
Zhou Siyu wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, slung her bag over her shoulder, put her hands in her pockets, and swaggered past Qin Ge.
As they brushed past each other, Qin Ge inexplicably said, "You're not good enough for his affections." Then, without looking back, he boarded the spaceship, leaving Zhou Siyu completely bewildered.
Yu Wei likes him? That's ridiculous. What does a block of wood know about liking someone?
His kindness towards him stemmed solely from a sense of responsibility. He would treat anyone else the same way; Yu Wei would still take meticulous care of that person, fulfilling his duties as a husband, nothing more.
"Zhou Siyu, Zhou Siyu, Zhou Siyu, wake up!" Zhou Siyu kept brainwashing herself: "You don't like Yu Wei, and Yu Wei doesn't like you either. You're just forced to live together."
