The man in black beckoned, and Yu Wen, with his head down, quickly walked over and knelt at his feet. The others, seeing this, quickly left the room.
"Good job, you found me an interesting toy. What reward do you want, hmm?"
The deep tone rose slightly at the end, suggesting he was in a good mood.
"It is my duty to share my father's burdens."
Yu Wen lowered his eyes and stared at the ground.
"You are my most proud and favorite child. You are excellent, but not excellent enough."
The black robe gently stroked Yu Wen's face, the pattern on the gloves brushing against his cheek. Yu Wen couldn't help but tremble, but his voice was very steady: "I beg Father to guide me through my confusion."
“You’re very clever; you know what I want.” The man in black robes released his grip and, seeing Yu Wen’s somewhat confused look, reminded him with displeasure, “Zhou Siyu has many secrets.”
"I see."
Yu Wen lowered his eyes. Zhou Siyu did indeed have many secrets, but the Black Robe probably wanted more than just these.
“You’re familiar with him, so you’ll be in charge of taking care of his daily needs for the time being.” The man in the black robe waved his hand. “Go.”
"Yes, Father."
Yu Wen got up and left, his eyes devoid of any emotion.
He was an orphan adopted by the Black Robe. He was well-read and could write and calculate. After reaching adulthood, he differentiated into a high-level Omega. Like others, he hoped to become someone who walked beside the Black Robe. However, after he accidentally saw an Omega who was tortured and covered in wounds by the Black Robe, he shot and shattered his glands before the Black Robe could harm him, turning him into a complete cripple.
The lofty image deep within his heart crumbled, revealing a ferocious wolf behind the facade of kindness. Yu Wen found it hard to accept and was even more unwilling to succumb to darkness.
Having lost his value, he was beaten half to death by the enraged man in black robes and dumped beside a trash can. As he lay dying, a voice rang in his ear, "Hey, are you trying to scam me by lying here? I don't have any money to pay you." Then, the owner of the voice seemed to kick him: "Where do you live? Huh? Don't talk. You're not dead yet. Don't you have a home?"
He didn't have the strength to respond. He only felt his body being lifted up. The voice, with a faint smile, entered his brain and was very pleasant to hear: "I happen to need a Beta subordinate who can serve tea and water. Since you're not bad looking, I'll reluctantly take you with me."
He stayed in Zhou Siyu's rented room for a few days and found that he was a very busy person. He would leave early in the morning and go straight to bed when he got home at night. Even so, he asked the neighbors to take care of him.
Later, he left quietly, secretly enrolling in the Alliance University without the Black Robe's knowledge. He was going to study. When he sat down in front of Zhou Siyu with his impressive resume, Zhou Siyu seemed not to recognize him. "Why did you choose this place?"
"Because it's more challenging."
“Very good.” Zhou Siyu twirled her pen and took out a blank employee badge from the drawer: “Attach your own photo, fill in your own information, and come to work tomorrow.”
"You..." Yu Wen wanted to ask, "You really don't recognize me?"
"We can talk about any problems tomorrow." Zhou Siyu raised his wrist to check the time, waved his hand dismissively, and encouraged, "Work hard, and a promotion, a raise, and bonuses are just around the corner."
As his thoughts slowly returned, Yu Wen smiled and stepped into the elevator to find Zhou Siyu.
The task given to him by the black-robed man was both a test for Zhou Siyu and a test for him. He had been away for too long and harbored resentment towards the organization, so the black-robed man naturally wouldn't trust him.
