Chapter 89 Unexpected Betrayal

If Yu Wei hadn't been so adamant in his opposition to bombing, he would have blasted this place into ruins long ago. Why resort to such a primitive method?

Before Essen could react, a black longsword came hurtling towards him. He instinctively raised his hand, and the vines, like a sharp sword, met the blade and instantly split in two.

"call out……"

"bite……"

The bullet grazed Essen's cheek and struck the mech with a crisp sound.

"What are you standing there for? Let's go."

Montau, dragging Essen along, retreated into the alley while firing.

Seeing this, the others lost their will to fight and continued to resist while searching for shelter. Some even threw down their weapons and surrendered.

"Damn rabbit, why are you running?"

Lin Gu threw down his rifle and switched to a pistol. While firing, he used the eaves of the house to jump onto another house and shouted to Yu Wei, "Old Yu, I'll go up and you go down."

Yu Wei nodded, sheathed his knife, and used the vines to move as if walking on flat ground on the wall, over the chaotic crowd, and chased after the two.

At the end of the alley was the approaching interstellar train. Yu Wei and Lin Gu caught up with Essen and the other two, and the train arrived just as the doors were open.

"You go first."

Essen swiftly pushed Mondo into the car and fired at Yu Wei, who was facing directly ahead. Yu Wei dodged to the side and did not return fire.

"Damn it! He got away." Lin Gu chased after him for a while but couldn't catch up. He turned back and saw the two of them staring at each other. He nudged Yu Wei with his elbow and said, "Old Yu, the ten-second rule."

"I never expected you to betray me." Essen spoke slowly, glancing at Yu Wei, then at Lin Gu. "Is he your friend?"

“He’s my brother, and also my younger brother.” Yu Wei nodded, looking up at Essen: “Strictly speaking, I didn’t betray you. It was my duty that caused me to deceive you, and I’m sorry.”

“You win.” Essen smiled, lowered his gun, and raised his hand. “Kill me.”

“No.” Yu Wei shook his head. “If you’re willing, I can be your younger brother forever.”

"We have different positions, and ultimately we are not on the same path."

“We share the same stance in the fight for peace.” Yu Wei raised his gun, pointing it at Essen’s neck. “Sorry.”

Essen closed his eyes and slowly fell to the ground.

"You're such a troublemaker. If you want to save him, just say so. Why make things so complicated?" Lin Gu took out a communicator from his pocket and handed it to Yu Wei. "Here, a brand new identity, and money. I went to great lengths to get this."

"Thank you very much."

Yu Wei took the communicator, put it on Essen, then disassembled the original communicator, broke the chip in half, and together with Lin Gu, dragged Essen into the house.
