Chapter 119 Conflict

The people outside were making a great fuss, and Zhou Siyu and Yu Zhen were listening with great interest. If they weren't constrained by circumstances, they would definitely have grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds to crack open.

The argument among Zhou Siyun and her group had escalated from who was too low-ranking and didn't work hard enough, to who had no skills and only knew how to flatter, to whether or not to enter the already opened basement.

"Now that this place has already been opened, there's no point in us going in."

Zhou Siyun calmed down and stopped dwelling on the pointless topic of so-and-so's ambiguous relationship with so-and-so.

“I object. If we’re looking for a solution to the Kao virus, we shouldn’t overlook any clues.” Wen Lie disagreed with Zhou Siyun’s suggestion to leave. “This mission is classified. Even if the other party manages to get in, they may not have the same goal as us, so it’s still necessary to go in and search.”

"Wen Lie, do you really have to go against my wishes?"

Zhou Siyun took a deep breath, suppressing her raging anger.

She created the opportunity for Zhou Siyu to enter this place, not so that he could show off his skills. The footprints on the ground were very clear, and Zhou Siyu was definitely still trapped inside. She couldn't let him outdo her.

"I'm just stating the facts and I don't mean to target anyone." Wen Lie's eyes were calm. "Scientific research requires attention to every detail and not overlooking any clues."

These were the words Lin Ling said when he first entered the lab, and he has kept them in mind ever since.

“I agree with Vice Captain Wen.” Naya raised her hand in agreement. “It’s not only by reclaiming wasteland that you can prove yourself. Continuing to delve deeper based on the research of your predecessors is also a good option.”

If we compare the scope of knowledge to a circle, humanity is at the center of that circle. Our predecessors discovered a little, and the circle expanded a little. As successors, they can discover other circles and expand this one as well. There's no need to compete on who discovers more circles.

Scientific research requires precision, not breadth. A team can spend years or even decades researching a project, but it is impossible to produce results in a few hours or days.

“I agree with Vice Captain Wen.” Aite raised his hand. “Even if the other side’s target is the same as ours, we can still track him down by the footprints he leaves behind. If he is a friend, we can go together, more people means more strength. But if he is an enemy, we can still capture him.”

Aite was transferred from the military to protect them; he wasn't interested in research or how they searched for things.

However, he disliked Zhou Siyun. If it weren't for her recklessness, his brothers wouldn't have been eaten away by those man-eating butterflies, leaving only skeletons.

Zhou Siyu agreed with Zhou Siyun; after all, it was better for someone to take the first step than for him to take the risk himself.

Moreover, if these people discover him and report him to Lin Ling, he'll be dragged to Lin Ling's side and lectured to death when he gets back.

Just thinking about Lin Ling's long sermon of tens of thousands of words sent chills down Zhou Siyu's spine.

Professor Huai, what's your opinion?

Unable to reach an agreement, both sides turned to Professor Huai, the oldest and most authoritative member of the group.

"You'll never discover a new continent by following in other people's footsteps." Professor Huai put on his glasses, slowly raised his head, and said, "I support Si Yun."

“In that case, let’s hurry up and go.” Zhou Siyun glanced triumphantly at Wen Lie and Naya. “Everyone should have rested enough. In that case, let’s set off.”

Naya wanted to say something, but Wenlie stopped her and gently shook his head at her.

Zhou Siyun was the team leader handpicked by Teacher Lin, and Professor Huai was the most authoritative professor in the entire team. Once they spoke, they basically determined the direction of the matter.

"I'm sorry, Captain Zhou, we refuse to carry out such a risky mission."

As the captain of the security team, Aite is not under Zhou Siyun's management. Moreover, it is clearly stated in the cooperation agreement between Oran Laboratory and the Alliance Army that if a major conflict arises between the two sides during the operation, the security team on duty can choose to withdraw and be replaced by another team.

Such underground laboratories are inherently dangerous, and it is unwise for someone like Zhou Siyun to wander around like this. He may not understand scientific research, but he knows that one can only talk about anything else if one survives.

"Whatever, do whatever you want."

Zhou Siyun slung her backpack over her shoulder, rolled her eyes at Aite, and left with her people, figuring she would complain to the Alliance Military Command anyway.

As the footsteps faded into the distance, Zhou Siyu rubbed her sore and numb legs and stood up, leaning on the cabinet for support.

"Sister-in-law, what should we do?"

Yu Zhen spoke quietly, "If that group of people comes in, won't they be exposed?"

Who's inside?

Aite has better hearing and vision than the average person. Upon hearing the sound, he immediately pushed open the door. Light shone through rows of glass jars onto his face. Zhou Siyu tilted his head slightly and raised his hand to shield his eyes from the bright light.

"What do you two do for a living?"

Aite led his men in and quickly surrounded the two. When he saw Yu Zhen's face, he was stunned and said in disbelief, "Yu Zhen? What are you doing here?" Then he looked at Zhou Siyu and asked, "Who is he? How did you two get together? Why does his mecha have the Chairman's number on it?"

The mecha's serial number is the same as the user's serial number, allowing team members to identify each other based on the serial number.

"This isn't your home. You can be here, but I can't?" Yu Zhen rolled her eyes. "I'm on a secret mission and can't tell you."

"Zhou Siyu?" A voice filled with surprise rang out. Aite turned around. "Dali, do you know this person?"

Upon hearing this, Zhou Siyu turned her head and looked at the person in front of her, lost in thought. This person looked familiar. Where had she seen him before?
