A gentle breeze rustled through the willows by the river, startling the birds in the trees.
Yu Wei stretched in the sunlight. It was another sunny day. He got dressed, went downstairs, got on his bike, and bought a few steamed buns at a breakfast shop on the way, planning to take them to the repair shop.
As soon as he entered, Yang Lie winked at him. Yu Wei looked at Zhang Qing, puzzled. Zhang Qing shook his head helplessly and pointed upstairs.
Yu Wei took a steamed bun and put it in his mouth, then handed the rest of the buns to Zhang Qing and Yang Lie before slowly walking upstairs to the second floor.
In the narrow but tastefully decorated living room, Zhou Siyu, Yu Zhen, and Zheng Li sat on either side, staring at each other with wide eyes, the air crackling with tension.
Why are you here again?
Yu Wei mumbled through a mouthful of steamed bun, "There are three people in the living room, but only one steamed bun. Hmm... never mind, I'll just eat it myself."
"Good morning." Zhou Siyu looked at Yu Wei with a smile. "I've come to check on the progress of the car repairs."
Yu Zhen and Zheng Li stared wide-eyed. Holy crap! A face-changing artist!
"We haven't started yet." Yu Wei swallowed a steamed bun. "Let's see if we have time to take the engine off today. I've been a bit busy lately."
"I see." Zhou Siyu lowered her eyes, then raised them again, and sighed softly. "It's okay, we can take our time, there's no rush."
Yu Wei was stunned. What was with that mournful tone?
"It's really okay, it's just a bit inconvenient to go out, but it's alright... I'll get up an hour earlier..."
"I have done my best..."
"Alright, stop talking."
Zheng Li couldn't stand it anymore. Who was he trying to fool with this kind and pitiful act? He was just a moment ago baring his teeth, being sharp-tongued and sarcastic, but the moment he saw Yu Wei, he turned into a little white flower!
It's infuriating! The problem is, Yu Wei seems completely blind and can't see it at all! That's even more infuriating!
Upon hearing this, Zhou Siyu moved her lips, then bit her lip and lowered her head.
I feel wronged (yeah right), but I won't say anything (yeah right).
Zheng Li took out his car keys and placed them on the coffee table. "You should have said earlier that you didn't have a means of transportation. I would have lent you my car for a while."
"Is it really possible?"
Zhou Siyu raised her eyes and looked at Zheng Li with a mixture of joy and disbelief.
"Um."
Having already said it, and in front of Yu Wei, Zheng Li was too embarrassed to go back on his word. Looking at the keys on the coffee table, he felt a pang of heartache.
Good heavens! This is his brand new car!
"Thank you so much." Zhou Siyu smiled and picked up the keys. "You're such a good person."
Zheng Li twitched the corner of his mouth. If he hadn't suffered a loss at this guy's hands before, he would have really been fooled by this appearance.
"It's okay, as long as you're happy." Zheng Li gritted his teeth so hard they were almost ground to powder, barely suppressing the urge to rush up and tear off Zhou Siyu's mask. He said to Yu Wei, "Brother Yu Wei, my home is a bit far from the station. Could you please give me a ride?"
Zheng Li studies at the Fifth Planet University. He drives himself to the station and then takes the interstellar train. Every weekend, he travels a long way back and drives around.
“You have other cars at home.”
Yu Wei shook his head. He was just an ordinary person. If he hadn't helped Zheng Li by chance, they would never have met.
Zheng Li sighed; Yu Wei had indeed refused.
"Yu Wei, I'd like to ask you for a favor." Zhou Siyu said somewhat awkwardly, "I'm new here and not very familiar with the area. Could you be my guide?"
Just as Yu Wei was about to shake his head, Zhou Siyu immediately added, "It won't take you too long, four or five days will be enough..."
"Hmm..." Yu Wei hesitated for a moment, "I'm really too busy here, I'm afraid I don't have time..."
"Oh, I see. Never mind then."
Zhou Siyu lowered her head in disappointment, and the tuft of hair on her head drooped down.
Looking at the dejected Zhou Siyu, Yu Wei felt as if his heart had been ripped apart, and he felt extremely uncomfortable.
"It's not that...it's not possible." Yu Wei scratched his neck and said, "But I might only be available in the evening. If you have other plans..."
“Okay.” Zhou Siyu nodded vigorously. “I can wait for you to come together.”
"Anyway, I'm not familiar with this area, and I don't know the way when I go out. I just stay in the hotel during the day, which is very boring."
“That’s true, you can arrange it as you see fit.” Yu Wei swallowed the last bite of the bun, picked up the water on the table and took a sip. “I’m going down to work now, you can wander around and look around.”
After saying that, Yu Wei put down the cup and turned to leave, while Zhou Siyu picked up the cup with a smile, forgetting to tell Yu Wei that he had drunk from that cup of water.
"Don't be too smug. Yu Wei was just fooled by your disguise. Once he sees through it, he'll definitely hate you."
Zheng Li stomped his feet in anger. How could he be inferior to Zhou Siyu? Why did Brother Yu Wei ignore him but treat this guy so well?
“You’re too naive, little brother.” Zhou Siyu swirled his glass and took an elegant sip. “Since I dared to do it, I have a million ways to cover up the truth.”
"Besides, I didn't lie to him; I was just acting out how he saw me."
People believe what they see because it is what they want to see.
"You're despicable."
Zheng Li wished he could drag Yu Wei back and make him listen to these words from the beginning, so as to knock some sense into his blockhead.
“Baseness is the passport of the base, nobility is the epitaph of the noble.” Zhou Siyu stretched. “Little brother, you’re too young. You can’t compete with me in terms of tactics. Go home and drink your milk, okay?”
"I'm going to expose you."
