Chapter 1 Widow

Chapter 1 Widow

"I am General Ji's widow."

After knocking on the door of Ji's residence, Feng Qingsui revealed his identity with a sad face.

The concierge had a strange look on his face.

"Why is there another one?"

He muttered softly.

Another one?

Feng Qingsui felt a little depressed.

Could it be...

When she entered the mansion with her maid and the servants, she saw a young woman sitting on a throne in the hall with a three or four-year-old boy in her arms. Her heart sank completely.

She is not the only one who came to be the widow of General Ji!

She even brought a child with her!

Before going to the door, she considered every aspect, but she had never considered that someone else would come to the door to claim relationship with her at the same time.

It’s all the fault of that “Prime Minister who confiscated property”.

If he hadn't raided three households she wanted to go to, leaving her with nowhere to go and making her run to the Ji Mansion in anger, this kind of accident wouldn't have happened!

She walked to the other side of the chair with a stern face and sat down.

While the maid was serving tea, he took a closer look at the child. Seeing that his features resembled those of General Ji whom he had met before, his heart sank even more.

Could this mother and son really be Ji Changfeng’s wife and children?

She just wanted to get into a wealthy family, find out the truth about her sister's family being wiped out, and avenge them. She never thought about usurping anyone's identity...

The sister is not her biological sister.

She was born blind and was abandoned in a mass grave. Her sister went to the mass grave to pay tribute to her parents, picked her up and took her to the Salesian home and raised her.

When she was eleven years old, her elder sister married Jiang Jiyan, and she left Beijing with her newly-acquainted master to look for medicine to cure her eyes.

It has been seven years since we last met.

Half a month ago, she returned to Beijing excitedly to reunite with her sister.

When we arrived at Jiang's house, we saw only ruins.

Upon inquiry, I found out that my sister's daughter drowned half a year ago; then my brother-in-law angered the emperor and was thrown into prison, where he died.

My sister was so grief-stricken that she died of miscarriage.

My brother-in-law's widowed mother went to a temple in the suburbs to light a perpetual lamp for them. On the way back, she was frightened by her horse and fell off a cliff and died.

A good family, all died in less than ten days.

Neighbors sighed.

"...The servants in the Jiang residence were keeping vigil over the old lady's body when a fire started accidentally and they all burned to death..."

Feng Qingsui didn't believe that there was such a coincidence in the world.

My sister's family was definitely wiped out.

After finding out that her sister's daughter drowned in the Rongchang Marquis's Mansion on the day of the old lady's 60th birthday, she intuitively felt that the death of her sister's family was closely related to the Rongchang Marquis' Mansion.

But it is difficult to investigate the truth.

The Rongchang Marquis Mansion is the Empress's maiden home. The mansion occupies an entire street. The servants who serve the master personally are all family-born children and usually live in the mansion.

She couldn't even get in touch with these servants, let alone their masters.

After much thought, I realized that only by sneaking into a high-ranking family can I get a glimpse of the situation.

Who knew that Ji Changqing would show up unexpectedly...

The child noticed her gaze and grinned at her, making a face.

Feng Qingsui looked at the wide gap between his front teeth, and suddenly remembered something his master had said, and his heart suddenly calmed down.

She smiled back.

The young woman frowned and looked at Feng Qingsui warily.

A tall and slender figure with an extremely handsome face walked in from the door on the right side of the hall.

It was none other than the "Prime Minister Who Confiscated Property" Ji Changqing.

Ji Changqing untied his cloak, handed it to the maid serving beside him, walked to the armchair at the top, lifted his robe and sat down.

"My brother was a lonely man during his lifetime, yet after his death, he left two widows. If the world knew, they would probably think that my brother was no different from those playboys who flirted with everyone."

"I wonder how my brother has offended you two that you want to ruin his reputation?"

The young woman realized that Feng Qingsui had also come to recognize his relatives, and she said indignantly, "Second Master, how could you confuse me with this charlatan!"

"Our An Ge'er looks so much like the old man, anyone who sees him will know that he is the old man's child."

She pushed the child away so that Ji Changqing could see his face clearly.

He glanced at Feng Qingsui with contempt again.

"Unlike some people, who are obviously scammers at first glance, they dare to cheat me, they are really courting death."

Feng Qingsui said calmly, "You don't look like General Ji at all."

The young woman was about to retort when she was interrupted by Ji Changqing.

"How is it not like that?"

He looked at Feng Qingsui with interest.

"Teeth," Feng Qingsui replied. "Parents' dental conditions are often passed down to their children."

"This child has a big gap between his front teeth. General Ji's teeth are perfectly aligned, without a single gap. This woman's front teeth are also very close together. Why is this child so different from them?"

"His biological father must be someone else."

A trace of panic flashed across the young woman's eyes.

"Nonsense!" she shouted angrily. "Our An'er's teeth are wide open from gnawing on bones! Just look at his face and you'll know he looks exactly like you!"

Feng Qingsui: "I heard that all the men in the Ji family inherited the peach blossom eyes of the most handsome man in Jiangzhou. Even if your eyebrows and eyes resemble General Ji, it doesn't mean that he is General Ji's son."

"The girl has a point."

Ji Changqing suddenly spoke.

"This child doesn't look much like my eldest brother Ji, but he looks exactly like a member of the Ji family."

The young woman covered her face and wailed, "Second Master, it's fine if you don't want An Ge'er to recognize his ancestors, but why humiliate me like this! Don't you know who I'm with?!"

"Four years ago, my master returned to Beijing to report on his work and took a group of brothers to Paiyun Tower for a drink. I was singing there and was accidentally drugged and sent to the room where my master was resting while drunk..."

"When I woke up the next day, I fled in panic. Later, when I discovered I was pregnant, I wanted to talk to you, but I found out you had already left the capital."

"I had no choice but to give birth to the child alone, raising the baby while waiting for my uncle to come back. But who knew that what he received was bad news..."

After hearing this, Ji Changqing looked at the young woman quietly.

"You mean, my brother got drunk and got involved with you?"

The young woman nodded: "Exactly!"

"There's something you might not know," Ji Changqing said nonchalantly, "My brother gets short of breath when he drinks. He never drinks, so something like what you're saying would never happen to him."

The young woman was stunned: "How could it be, that night was clearly..."

"Let someone else write it."

Ji Changqing waved his hand.

"Someone, show the guests out."

The young woman was about to argue, but two maids waiting beside her grabbed her arms and carried her out. The child followed her away with a look of panic on his face.

Feng Qingsui looked at this scene with mixed feelings.

It is certainly a good thing that the opponent failed, but Ji Changqing sent the man away with just a few words, which shows that he is obviously not easy to fool.

I don't know if she can fool it...

When he turned his head, he met Ji Changqing's insightful eyes, and his heart skipped a beat.

"Okay, it's your turn."

Ji Changqing took a sip of tea and leaned back in his chair, looking like he was going to listen to an opera.

"I hope your story is more comprehensive than hers."

Feng Qingsui: “…”

She was silent for a moment, then spoke slowly.
