Chapter 4 System Upgrade

Following the instructions on the map, Yan Jili successfully arrived at the largest shopping mall in the city with the widest variety of goods.

It’s just that the mall is big and there are a lot of people, so naturally there are a lot of zombies.

At this time, groups of zombies crowded the first-floor entrance of the mall, and human entry and exit were restricted.

Yan Jili knew that this was not something he could solve alone.

He parked the car in a blind spot, a place where few people would notice him. As long as he didn't make any loud noise, he wouldn't attract zombies.

He gently woke Tang Anan up and whispered, "The zombies have blocked the entrance. How can we get in?"

Tang Anan rubbed her eyes, opened them and looked at him, "Are there any mutant zombies?"

"I don't think so." He just took a quick look and didn't look closely.

"Sit down and take a rest. You don't have any special abilities yet, so the workload will be huge." After all, places like shopping malls are mostly populated by young people, so the possibility of mutation is greater.

"I'll do as you say." Yan Jili returned to the driver's seat and closed his eyes to rest.

Tang Anan leaned her head back against the small pillow, also with her eyes closed. The golden thread of her finger extended rapidly, actually reaching towards the mall.

A few minutes later, Tang Anan patted Yan Jili on the shoulder and said, "Get up and get to work."

He yawned. Although he had some time to rest these days, he had never been able to chop something almost non-stop.

I have to get used to it in the future. I don’t know when this kind of life will end.

"Just kill them?" he asked.

After all, this is very much in line with Tang Anan's style.

"No." Tang Anan shook her head, "Take the safe passage."

When the apocalypse happens, no one has time to react. They are chased by monsters, and their first reaction is to run towards the crowd and escape towards the gate.

Very few people chose the safe passage, so many people survived.

In comparison, it would be easier to take the safety passage.

Tang Anan briefly explained a few things to him. Under Yan Jili's eager gaze, she looked up at him and said, "Anan wants to be hugged."

The soft and cute little face is very adorable, and the voice is soft and sweet.

If he didn't know her true personality, Yan Jili felt that he would not be able to resist. Who could refuse a beautiful little girl's request for a hug?

But they were ordinary children.

If it was her request...

"Do you have any new plans?"

"No."

"Then why?" She didn't let him hold her in the hospital either.

"The only emergency exit is stairs." She looked aggrieved, her pink lips pouting to express her dissatisfaction.

"......" Yan Jili looked at her small arms and short legs. After all, she was still a child and could not walk fast. "I'll hold you."

He bent down, picked her up, and quietly walked towards the safe passage.

"There are a few people blocking the door at the safe intersection, be careful." After saying that, Tang Anan leaned on his chest to rest, and only the golden threads he released occasionally harvested the crystal cores of the surrounding first-level zombies.

Upon hearing this, Yan Jili immediately became cautious. Although he was confident in his own strength, he was not sure about the opponent's background after all. If the opponent was armed with a gun, he might not be able to defeat him.

Yan Jili tried to push open the door of the emergency passage, but found that it was blocked by something inside and could not be pushed open easily.

"Is there anyone inside? We have no wounds on our bodies, can you let us in?" In order to prevent the noise caused by the fight from alerting the zombies, he planned to negotiate with the people inside first.

I'm not afraid of a small number of zombies, but I'm afraid that all the zombies on this floor will rush over here.

It is better to reduce unnecessary fighting and conserve energy.

"......" There was silence inside and no one responded.

Yan Jili patiently called out a few more times, but still received no response.

He looked down at the girl in his arms and asked, "Are you sure there's someone on the first floor?"

"It seems that the people inside are very vigilant." Tang Anan smiled and stretched out his hand. "We'll know if there's anyone there if we try."

The moment she touched the door, the wooden door broke and debris floated away with the dust, revealing an obstacle against the door and a group of people with different expressions.

They gripped their weapons tightly and looked at them warily.

Most people breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the tall and mighty man holding a young girl in his arms.

"I'm sorry, this may have frightened you." Yan Jili said this without a trace of apology on his face.

"Who are you?" the leading young man shouted with a frown.

"Brother, he is so fierce, An An is scared." Tang An An's young face showed a timid and panic expression. Her little hands grabbed the corner of Yan Jili's clothes, half of her face was buried, and one eye showed fear.

Yan Jili was frightened by her. When had this little girl Tang Anan ever been afraid?

But he quickly reacted, patted her back, and said softly, "Don't be afraid, An'an, I'm here." He then looked at the young man and said, "Please be quiet, there are children here."

"I guess you don't want to attract zombies by making loud noises, right?" He strode in.

The young man, hearing the girl's address, subconsciously assumed they were brother and sister. Then, seeing how pretty and lovely she was, and how frightened she seemed, he couldn't help but feel guilty.

He has never been hostile to good-looking people, and these two people don't look like the rude group from before.

As he thought about it, his tense body slowly relaxed.

"Excuse me, may I ask you..." The young man lowered his voice and looked at them hesitantly.

"We don't have much food left at home, so we thought we'd try our luck." Yan Jili glanced at Tang Anan, and seeing she didn't react, he continued, "Don't worry, we don't have any wounds on our bodies, so there's no possibility of mutation."

The young man relaxed his guard when he heard this. This was the reason why he came to the mall to take the risk. The apocalypse had just begun and supplies were not too scarce, so people were not too resistant.

They all thought that the situation would be brought under control quickly and that the suffering would not last long.

Just as the young man was about to accept them, a sharp female voice suddenly interrupted.
