Seeing her crying so sadly, Chi Yanhuai held her in his arms helplessly, patted her back with his warm palm, and said gently, "Don't cry, brother will protect you."
It wasn't like someone had passed by his yard asking for help these past few days, but he wasn't going to be a saint. His family was working far away at the base, and his brother would personally bring the troops to pick them up.
He couldn't possibly sacrifice his life for someone insignificant and let his family down.
Even so, he was not a cold-blooded person without any emotion. When he saw the child climbing a tree to survive, his heart was touched. Perhaps, he could give her temporary shelter, at least not watch her die.
In this way, Tang Anan settled down in the Chi family villa.
What a wonderful misunderstanding.
-
Stepping into the hall, Tang Anan's eyes and nose were red, like a cute white rabbit. Chi Yanhuai opened the refrigerator at home, looked sideways at the girl sitting obediently on the sofa, and spoke.
"What do you want to eat? Let me cook you a bowl of noodles."
Tang Anan stared at the pancake in his hand with clear and innocent eyes, and said in a soft and timid voice, "Okay."
She buried her face in the doll's shoulder again, looking at him with wet eyes like an innocent little deer, and whispered, "As long as it's made by brother, An An likes it."
Chi Yanhuai laughed, and instantly felt like he had a younger sister. He responded and buried his head in the kitchen cooking noodles.
After a while, the fragrance filled the hall and floated in the air, immediately arousing Tang Anan's appetite after eating fast food for several days.
She jumped off the sofa and ran towards Chi Yanhuai curiously. She stood on tiptoe and saw that the noodles were already cooked and he was scooping them out. At this moment, a few drops of soup accidentally splashed out. Chi Yanhuai glanced at the little head that appeared on the side, and immediately put down what he was holding and carried Tang Anan off the ground.
His deep black eyes stared at her childish face. He pretended to be angry and flicked her forehead with two fingers, saying with concern, "Why didn't you wait for your brother on the sofa? What if the soup splashed into your eyes?"
Tang Anan felt a very light force. She covered her forehead with one hand, her eyes bright and she suddenly smiled, as if she had let down her guard against Chi Yanhuai.
"Brother won't let me get hurt." She glanced at the bowl of noodles on the kitchen counter and whispered, "An An is hungry."
Chi Yanhuai's eyes were filled with smiles, and he sighed dotingly and helplessly. He placed her on the dining table chair and stroked her black hair. "Be good and sit down. I'll get you a bowl now."
"Okay." Tang Anan nodded obediently and waited for him quietly.
Chi Yanhuai brought a bowl of beef noodles. In the bowl, light yellow noodles floated on the milky white bone broth, and a few pieces of reddish-brown beef and juicy green leaves were dotted on the side. The red and green were visually shocking.
A bowl of steaming beef noodles was served on the table. Tang Anan was enveloped in the lingering hot air, and the fragrance was so tempting.
Tang Anan's clear eyes sparkled. She took a deep breath and exclaimed in surprise, "It smells so good."
She had never expected this spoiled young master from a wealthy family to be such a skilled cook. It was not like she had never tasted delicious food before, but she was just curious about his cooking skills.
Chi Yanhuai carefully took out another small bowl for her, separated some of the food from it, and placed it in front of her, saying, "Eat."
Tang Anan took the chopsticks and felt the heat as soon as they touched her lips. She stared at the noodles in the bowl with pain and grievance. Chi Yanhuai put his fist to his mouth and smiled muffledly, asking her to eat slowly.
He looked at the doll in her arms again and suddenly asked, "Can we put the doll aside first and bring it back after we finish eating?"
