Chapter 75: One force can overcome ten techniques.
Noticing the state of the people around her, Mo Xiu couldn't help but smile.
What's wrong with these guys? They all have this death-defying look on their faces, as if they're going to die with me and this place.
Perhaps this rebirth was actually quite good; he truly gained so much that he never had in his previous life, except...
"I say, aren't you all a bit too tense right now?" Mo Xiu said with a hint of helplessness.
When we first saw the dark figure rushing towards them, it was indeed quite frightening.
But with his many years of combat experience and the sudden increase in his superpowers in this life, he was able to quickly estimate the opponent's level and strength.
Mo Qi, who was standing in front of him trying to protect him, chuckled softly upon hearing this.
There was nothing to be nervous about. With him around, he would be his partner's strongest support. "Go ahead and do it, I'll take care of everything."
As Mo Qi spoke softly, he saw a big smile appear on Mo Xiu's face beside him.
The light emitted by the lightning ball grew increasingly dazzling, illuminating the entire road in the research institute and allowing them to see clearly what the source of the sound was in the distance.
Seeing those menacing creatures, their appearance could no longer be described as human; rather, they resembled a community with both human and zombie characteristics.
Mo Qi could clearly sense the surging demonic energy within these creatures, yet they were not completely dominated by it.
The bulging, knotted muscles, and their ferocious, greedy expressions, gave Mo Qi a strange sense of familiarity. Wasn't this the aura often associated with those cultivators who had fallen into demonic possession in their pursuit of power?
It's important to understand that while demonic cultivators rely on demonic energy for cultivation, that's completely different from being a fallen demon. Those who have fallen into demonic ways cannot be entirely called human; they seem to have willingly become another kind of being in pursuit of power.
So, is this the truth behind the research that professor was doing at the institute?
As Mo Qi was thinking, he saw the lightning ball in Mo Xiu's hand slowly expand, and then instantly transform into several lightning dragons, rushing towards the monsters opposite.
It was rare to see his beloved so energetic, and Mo Qi was delighted to see it happen. He watched as the monsters were instantly struck by the level eight thunder dragon and turned to ashes.
Mo Qi couldn't help but want to applaud and cheer. Sure enough, the person he admired had his own style; his actions were incredibly swift and decisive.
Cheng Cheng and his men, who had been following behind them, were dumbfounded. Cheng Cheng didn't even have a chance to swing his thorny whip before all the enemies were wiped out.
"My God, Brother Mo, you're amazing! Has your superpower upgraded again?" Cheng Cheng exclaimed, his mouth agape.
Xiao Wan, standing to the side, also froze, ice pick in hand. She'd assumed they'd come to fight to the death. But now, seeing the situation, it seemed quite different from what she'd imagined…
Seeing their expressions, Mo Qi felt even more pleased and burst out laughing.
Not wanting to waste any more time, and since his partner wanted to take action and enjoy the thrill of battle, he naturally had to play a good supporting role.
A vast divine sense spread out, instantly enveloping the entire research institute. Mo Qi easily used this divine sense to know who the other enemies awaited them ahead.
All the enemies here have one thing in common: their bodies are filled with demonic energy.
That professor certainly knew how to hide, gathering a whole bunch of lackeys to block them. He himself remained holed up in the deepest corner; did he really think that way he could comfortably remain the mastermind behind everything?
"Baby, this way." Mo Qi said with a smile. Although it was a narrow and dimly lit corridor, he strolled out as if he were on a leisurely outing in the wilderness.
Mo Xiu followed closely behind. The high-level mutated monsters they were about to fight were clearly not as disgusting as the previous batch. If one could ignore their somewhat abnormal skin color and their blood-red, murky eyes.
It must be said that their strength has indeed increased a lot after they became this ugly, but they are still no match for Mo Xiu's current strength.
Just thinking about how that guy named Lao Liang had rushed away to hide after bringing them here, it was clear that he knew exactly what the research institute had become.
But the increase in enemies coming to cause them trouble wasn't entirely without its advantages. At least the others finally had something to do, instead of just watching Mo Xiu wreak havoc.
The thorny vines of those mutated plants, all sorts of talismans, and ice spikes finally found their purpose.
In the end, Mo Xiu even detonated a lightning ball, causing a huge explosion that wiped out the entire enemy force as a cleanup.
When Mo Xiu did this, he clearly had no scruples, because even the thick wall next door was blown open by two layers.
As the dust and ashes slowly settled, and people became visible, they unexpectedly discovered the culprit behind the entire incident.
Professor Frank, wearing a white lab coat and with disheveled hair, stared at them in disbelief. He seemed never to have imagined meeting them in this way.
The scene he imagined was clearly Mo Xiu's entire team being impacted by public opinion and besieged by the enraged people of the Shanhe Base.
Then they would legitimately capture them and take them to the research institute, where they would become his experimental subjects.
"How... how could this be..." Professor Frank stammered, as if the scene before him had exceeded his comprehension.
Mo Xiu walked over with a cold look in her eyes and grabbed the other person's neck.
Before he could do anything, he heard footsteps approaching from behind. Mo Xiu frowned instantly, thinking someone was coming to disturb him, but when he turned around, he saw several very familiar faces.
Perhaps the commotion they made was too loud, alerting the Xiong brothers who had been waiting outside. Xiong Gangyong was so afraid that something had happened to them that he couldn't help but rush in.
Seeing that his younger brother had run in, Xiong Mingyuan naturally followed suit with his men.
When the large group of people entered, they saw the research institute, which had been reduced to half ruins, and Mo Xiu and the others, who were unharmed.
"This, this... Boss, Brother Mo..."
Xiong Gangyong didn't care that the so-called professor was being held in Mo Xiu's hands, but he suddenly realized that there was nothing he could do after rushing in, and he was at a loss for a moment.
Mo Xiu's expression softened considerably when he saw that the newcomers were them, but then, many more people followed and rushed into the research institute whose gate had been damaged.
Most of them were residents of the Shanhe Base. They went to Moxiu's apartment but couldn't find him. Later, they heard that he had gone to the research institute, so they followed him.
They came here to launch a campaign, but who knew it would turn out like this?
Mo Xiu and his group were not only unharmed, but it seemed they had even taken the professor hostage. However, before the public could voice their accusations, someone discovered a monstrous, scattered corpse not far away.
"My God, what is that? Is it a zombie? That's terrifying!"
"How come there are so many zombies in the research institute? No, these don't seem to be zombies. They're different from the zombies I've seen before."
"Hey? Isn't this Xiao Li? He said he was going to help out at the research institute a while ago, but he came back a few times and his speech was acting strange. What happened to him? He's become a monster!"
The people around them were chattering amongst themselves, their faces filled with fear. Mo Qi followed their gaze and saw the things they had previously defeated, raising an eyebrow.
The man stepped forward and said, "Do you see this? This is the result of the hard work of the professor you respect, admire, and want to protect. Is this what you want?"
Given the current scene and Mo Qi's words, what else could the people present not understand? These monsters were clearly "produced" in the research institute.
Unexpectedly, the professor they had been hoping to find a solution to the zombie virus in the apocalypse had actually been researching these monsters all along.
This is absolutely terrifying!
Given the current situation, who would still be willing to speak up for Professor Frank? All the insults and accusations that were about to burst out were swallowed back down.
Seeing the scene unfold as expected, Mo Qi was fairly satisfied. Mo Xiu, on the other hand, was less satisfied. With so many people around, if she were to try anything more, it would become quite troublesome.
He originally intended to use torture to extract information. But it would be better if it were just their own people.
With so many strangers coming, and Professor Frank manipulating demonic energy using some unknown method, he feared that the truth of the matter might involve secrets related to Mo Qi.
Mo Qi, who was standing to the side, clearly sensed his partner's concerns. He chuckled and patted Mo Xiu's shoulder reassuringly.
Then he turned to Xiong Mingyuan and said, "Chief Xiong, the situation is a bit chaotic right now. I'll leave the rest to you."
As for Professor Frank, let's keep him locked up for now. Just in case he does something terrible we don't know about, which might endanger the base!
Seeing the scene before him, and having fully grasped the terrifying strength of Mo Xiu and the others, how could Xiong Mingyuan refuse?
He quickly dispatched men to help capture Professor Frank and take him to a suitable place for detention.
After everyone else had left, only the professor, Mo Xiu, and Mo Qi remained in the room.
Mo Xiu then stepped forward, grabbed the other man's neck tightly, lifted the withered old man up, and glared at him with a fierce look.
"Tell me, what else did you do?" Mo Xiu asked.
Even though Professor Frank's face turned blue, he remained silent, with a strange smile on his lips.
Seeing this, Mo Xiu narrowed her eyes and threw the person to the ground.
The lightning crackled in the young man's hands, reflecting his cold expression, and every word he uttered seemed to freeze into ice.
"Since you're unwilling to tell me yourself, I have some methods that I can use to give you a taste of what's what."
But at that moment, Mo Qi coughed lightly, interrupting Mo Xiu's anger that had just ignited.
The man made an inviting gesture and said to Mo Xiu with a smile, "I am not very talented, but I know a little about incantations."
