Chapter 46 Aunt Tao

Guo Fengjun's mother-in-law's surname is Tao, and everyone calls her Auntie Tao. She works as a pastry chef in a state-owned restaurant and has several apprentices. Her work is usually easy and she has plenty of time.

She is the most informed about what is happening in the neighborhood.

Everyone knew about Luo Juan’s incident the night before yesterday, and Aunt Tao made great contributions to it.

In the original owner's memory, although Aunt Tao was gossipy, liked to join in the fun, and had some minor flaws in her character, she was not a bad person by nature. When the original owner was starving and had nothing to eat, she even secretly fed him snacks made in the restaurant.

"Auntie Tao, I haven't eaten yet!" Guan Jibai smiled sweetly and raised the plastic ladle in his hand. "There's no rice at home, and my mother hasn't gotten off work yet. I came to borrow some rice. I'll return it to you tomorrow."

"Come in, come in."

Aunt Tao enthusiastically pulled Guan Jibai into her yard and looked him up and down. "Your sister Guo hasn't come back yet. She said she's busy with the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day performances and is rehearsing overtime! Don't wait for your mother, just have dinner at my house."

Guan Jibai jumped up in surprise, grabbed Aunt Tao's hand, and shook it affectionately. "Is it okay? I've heard that you're a chef at a state-owned restaurant, and the meals you make are all delicious."

Aunt Tao was showered with compliments and flattery, a fact not disliked by the young people in the alley. Guan Jibai's flattery and affection were too much for her to handle.

Who doesn’t like a young, beautiful, sweet-talking and lovable girl?

"Of course, I made a lot of delicious food. My son and daughter-in-law are working overtime, and neither of them came back to eat." Aunt Tao took Guan Jibai's hand and went in.

As expected, a meal was being served in the room. Sitting at the table was a serious-looking middle-aged man, about fifty years old. He was wearing a neat Mao suit and looked energetic, clearly an intellectual.

Being with the cheerful Aunt Tao, they don't seem like a couple.

But Guan Jibai knew that the two of them had a good relationship.

"This is your Uncle Zhuo. We are all neighbors and should help each other. Don't be strangers. If you have nothing to eat in the future, just come to your aunt's house." Aunt Tao introduced happily.

The couple are both working, the husband is a university professor, and they have two sons.

My daughter is married, and my son and daughter-in-law are busy with work and often not at home. I'm eager to have someone over for dinner. Of course, this person must be likable, like Xiaobai.

Liang Wenjing can't do that.

Aunt Tao has always disliked Luo Juan and Liang Wenjing.

"Ahem!" Professor Zhuo nodded at Guan Jibai. He was a serious person and spoke very little.

Guan Jibai washed his hands before sitting down. He took a bite and immediately praised the food to the skies. Even the serious Professor Zhuo blushed after hearing his lavish praise. He glanced over and saw his lover, so shy he looked like he'd just turned eighteen.

I had a higher opinion of this neighbor who came back from the countryside.

Unlike what was previously rumored, he is actually very well-mannered and good at talking, and even his lover can be overwhelmed by his praise.

Don’t underestimate it!

After dinner, if Guo Fengjun still hadn't returned, it meant Guan Wanwan hadn't returned either. Since they lived together and now worked in the same company, they would definitely leave together if they had to work overtime at night.

So Guan Jibai was not in a hurry to go home. Aunt Tao enthusiastically pulled him to sit on the sofa in the living room to watch TV and chat.

Professor Zhuo went back to his study to read.

"Xiaobai, did Luo Juan just return the house to you?" Aunt Tao asked mysteriously.
