Wind Rises at Yutai
Three days after agreeing to cooperate with Hong Jae-heon, Yu Li received a message from Seo Jae-dam, and still nothing was found.
Xu Zaitan's voice was bitter. "I've looked at everything that was left to me, and I can't see anything unusual. I even asked my father's family, and they've handed everything over to me, without missing anything."
That's strange.
To avoid overlooking anything, Xu Zaitan even asked Yu Li to go and see it in person: "There's nothing I can't show you. It's been more than ten years."
Yu Li thought about it and decided not to go. Besides Hong Jae-heon, there was another group of people interested in this thing, so she was not in a hurry.
Cui Ze studied and worked step by step. After getting the investment, he went to Yutai. The only time they communicated was before going to bed at night. They would send messages during the day, but they would not reply in time.
In Song Minjing's words: "Everyone is busy, so it's better to be busy."
Let Cui Ze just focus on his own things. It doesn’t matter if Lili is busy. She doesn’t have to work now, so she can be with Lili every day.
She occasionally returned to Tianshuitai to live, and when she heard Yu Li and Cui Ze talking on the phone, she would go up to them to ask about their well-being. Yu Li indulged her, and Cui Ze was so angry that his teeth were itching.
But the little fool who had never been in love didn't know that all the trouble she caused was remembered by Cui Ze on Yu Li, and he was just waiting to come back and demand double the reward.
Yuri:?
She is innocent.
A few days later, Hong Jae-heon couldn't help himself and called Yu Li: "Is Xu Zaitan really looking for someone? If you can't find him, I can be Hong Wuxu's best man."
The news of Hong Wuxu's marriage has spread. Li Xianzhu felt sorry when she heard it, saying that the woman was capable and independent, and she wanted to introduce her to Quan Zaijing.
Yu Li just smiled when she heard that, and didn't dare to say that Quan Zaijing was quite happy to see it happen, and he had no idea about getting married at the moment.
"Helping you is helping myself. Xu Zaidan is not stupid." Yu Li retorted calmly. Hong Zaixian on the other end of the line sounded calm and composed. "He has looked for it, but there are too few clues. He hasn't found it yet."
Hong Zaixian smiled, gritting his teeth a little: "In that case, why don't you let him hand over the things and I will help him find them?"
He can even say such words, it seems he is really anxious.
Yu Li raised her eyebrows: "If you can convince him, then go."
"Kwon Woo-ri!" Hong Jae-heon growled, then forced himself to hold back. It was clearly impossible; going to Seo Jae-dam would only bring humiliation upon himself.
Who would show others something passed down in the family when there are so many family secrets in it?
Yu Li didn't say anything until she was sure Hong Jae Heon had calmed down before she said, "If you're really anxious, I have an idea."
"Oh?" Hong Jae-heon said indifferently, "Tell me about it."
Yu Li: "Seo Jae-dam was attacked last year when he was hosting a cruise ship party. That group was looking for the same thing then. I suspect it's the same thing you're looking for."
"If you can find this group of people, not only can you get clues, but you can also help Xu Zaitan a lot. I believe he will be happy to hand the things over to you."
"Hong Wuxu is only engaged, not married. There's plenty of time. What do you think?"
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone.
Yu Li turned on the speaker and put down her phone. Was Hong Jae Heon hesitating or...
Before she could think clearly, the other party suddenly said, "Kwon Yuri, I also have something to tell you."
Yu Li: “Hmm?”
The office was quiet enough that one could discern Hong Jae-heon's emotions from his voice, which was one of determination and a hint of gloating.
Hong Jae-heon: "This thing not only involves my father, but also your father. Even so, can you sit still?"
He hung up the phone quickly without giving Yu Li time to ask any questions.
It was obvious that he felt the initiative was in his hands.
Yu Li was indeed stunned for a moment. Was it related to Quan Weihe? This fire could still burn her.
Hong Jae-heon definitely didn't know about this at first, Yu-ri thought. If he did, he would have told him when he first proposed the partnership, and he wouldn't have been in such a low position all this time.
I didn’t say it last time in the coffee shop, but I said it this time.
Did he find a new clue? Or did something happen in between?
Shaking her head, Yu Li put the unnecessary information behind her. The most urgent thing was to find the "thing" before Hong Jae-heon and the gang. Hong Jae-heon's words might not be credible, but she had to be on guard. If it was true, she would have a powerful weapon to deal with Quan Weihe.
What could possibly connect Quan Weihe, Hong Xian, and Xu Zaitan's father together?
It has been twelve years since Xu's father passed away. It is difficult to investigate things that happened more than ten or even twenty years ago.
After thinking for a while, he decided to let Zheng Ruizhen look for it first. He couldn't just sit and wait.
Before going to bed, I called Choi Taek as usual. The first thing Choi Taek asked was if Song Minjing was there: "If she is, I will contact her mother."
Yu Li was amused: "Why did you contact her mother?"
Cui Ze: "Take her back, it's not like she has no home."
"Choi Taek," Yu Li teased as usual, "Tianshuitai is also Minjing's home. She has her room here."
Although the house was bought by Yu Li, she had already divided it up from the beginning. Cui Ze and Song Min Jing each had a room. There was no need for the three of them to be formal with each other and they could just treat it as their own home.
Cui Ze said seriously: "You reminded me."
Cui Ze: "I want to buy a new house."
Cui Ze: "You won't be returning to Tianshuitai anymore."
There was no point in being jealous of Song Minjing. He only needed to reveal something to Song's mother, and Song's mother would give Song Minjing some advice. He didn't do that because of Yu Li.
He has no friends whom he truly trusts, but Yu Li does.
After the joke, Yu Li asked about Yu Tai's progress: "How long will it take to be completed?"
It was different from before. When Cao Yujing was there, it was planned that phases one and two would open first. After Cao Yujing was rejected, Cui Ze re-planned phases one and two. In addition, phase three was about to be completed, so he planned to open phases one, two and three at the same time.
Cui Ze said that the earliest he could do so would be in the second half of the year: "After what happened last time, the inspections are very strict this time, and it's difficult for me to publicize it in advance."
The Yutai project had already been advertised, promising a March opening and releasing a large number of early bird tickets. However, Gao Taizhuo's bombshell completely destroyed it. To appease tourists who bought tickets but couldn't come, Cui Ze paid a price higher than the ticket price, even spending money on press releases and treating the media to dinner.
If something goes wrong with the advance promotion again this time, as they say, the first effort will be followed by a second and a third, and then there will be no more business if it happens a third time.
"That sounds so pitiful." Yu Li didn't offer any comfort. Just like she didn't need Cui Ze's help when ISG was in trouble, Cui Ze didn't need her help either. "How long are you going to stay there?"
"I'll be back in two days." Cui Ze asked Yu Li if she missed him. He had only one project at Yutai, so he could only come over to supervise once a week. He had to stay in the capital for the rest of the time.
He stayed longer this time because the project had just been restarted and he had to keep an eye on it.
"I miss you." Yu Li answered straightforwardly. Just say what you think. There is no need to be shy - Cui Ze is not here anyway, so she can tease him.
As soon as he finished speaking, Cui Ze's breathing became noticeably heavier.
"Cui Ze, do your best in Yutai." Yu Li was very skilled at starting a fire and running away. "I'm going to sleep first."
"Okay." Cui Ze didn't insist. He remembered everything. "Kwon Yuli, see you in two days."
The last four words were pronounced with great emphasis.
Hmm... Yu Li looked at the hung up phone. Except for the first two years when they knew each other in elementary school, Cui Ze basically didn't call her full name.
After they were together, calling her by her full name seemed to become some kind of hint, like a kiss preview. Whenever Choi Ze called her by her full name, it meant that Choi Ze was ready and she couldn't run away.
Ah Xi, she just said it casually.
She lifted the blanket with a smile and just as she sat down, Yu Li froze. Yu Tai? It seemed like she had forgotten something.
The next morning, Yu Li messaged Jung Seo Jin on her way to school to investigate the Yutai situation, specifically whether Seo Jae Dam's father had any connection to the Yutai development project. Choi Taek had spoken to her briefly during their February trip to Yutai, and he knew the project had previously had a developer, but one of them had died, leading to the project's demise.
The deceased was a wealthy local businessman in Yutai, while the other collaborators were from the capital.
Thinking of asking a few more questions when talking to Choi Taek on the phone in the evening, Gao Zhuyan and Pei Haocheng caught up with Yu Li from behind. The three of them had the same public elective class today, so they greeted each other. Yu Li noticed that Pei Haocheng had a sour expression.
"What's wrong?" He glanced at Gao Zhuyan, who was the same as always. "Did you guys quarrel again?"
If they quarrel, both of them will probably look unhappy, and both of them have sharp tongues. Quarreling will definitely hurt both sides, and there is no situation where one side wins completely.
"I wasn't the one who quarreled with him." Gao Zhuyan lowered his head to eat breakfast, which he bought at the breakfast shop across from the school. Because of the quarrel, Pei Haocheng didn't even cook this morning.
It’s Pei Haocheng’s turn to cook today, damn it.
Pei Haocheng snorted and didn't hide it from Yu Li: "I had a fight with my dad."
Pei Yanbin is useless, and Old Man Pei has never given up power. In addition, Pei Yanbin has been abroad when Pei Haocheng did not return to the Pei family. Pei Medical relies on the support of the old man. Although he is a doctor himself, the old man cannot stop.
"He fainted during a meeting yesterday morning. The examination showed that he was overworked. My father asked him to retire and take good care of his health."
Being able to say it out loud meant that the old man’s illness was not serious. Yu Li nodded to indicate that she was listening.
But, "Back off?"
Did Pei Yanbin simply ask the old man to abdicate and make way for someone more capable?
Gao Zhuyan sneered and thought Pei Yanbin was really interesting.
Pei Haocheng was also helpless. He felt that Pei Yanbin was sincere in what he said. Pei Yanbin was an only son and the relationship between father and son was very good. But why didn't the old man give up power for so many years? Didn't Pei Yanbin know this?
"The old man didn't want to, and my dad guessed it himself, so he asked the old man if he was going to skip him and pass the position directly to me."
Arriving at the classroom, the three of them found a seat near the back. Yu Li put her bag down and asked, "Did your grandfather admit it?"
Pei Haocheng leaned back in his chair. "The old man didn't admit or deny it. He just told my dad not to get involved. But my dad was convinced and asked me if I wanted to take his place."
Pei Yanbin prefers being a doctor to power. He has good intentions, but he always does things wrong. Pei Haocheng is still young, and passing the position to him is simply nonsense.
"We had a big fight and he said if I didn't want to be the guild leader, I should help him persuade the old man. If I didn't persuade him, he just wanted to be the guild leader."
This caused Pei Haocheng to not stay at home and he returned to his house near the school overnight.
"You're sick," Gao Zhuyan said bluntly. Born in a family like this, telling his son not to care too much about money and power? Gao Rixi would have called him an idiot if he heard it.
Yu Li couldn't say much about other people's family affairs, so she just calculated the time: "It will take at least ten years for you to graduate and inherit Pei's Medical. Your grandfather wants to leave the position to you, so the next few years will not be easy."
No one is a fool. Pei Haocheng is too young. Not only Pei Yanbin will have doubts, but other people in the shareholders' meeting will also have doubts. Inheritance is not something that can be resolved by just issuing a notice.
Pei Haocheng knew that Yu Li was right. Not to mention whether he could bear the responsibility, it was a question whether the old man could last for ten years.
Gao Zhuyan doesn't understand the saying "a friend in need is a friend indeed" and only gloats: "Future Chairman Pei, please do your best, or you will be the first to be left behind."
Pei Haocheng gave a middle finger.
The bell rang and the three of them stopped chatting.
There wasn't much work to do today, so Yu Ri stayed at school all day instead of going to the office. Hong Jae Heon didn't react, perhaps thinking he'd just revealed the news yesterday and "thoughtfully" giving her time to think.
Back at Tianshuitai in the evening, Yu Li asked Zheng Ruizhen about the progress of the investigation. Not much could be found in one day, and there were signs of a human cover-up. Zheng Ruizhen changed the angle and started from the dead wealthy businessman.
She needs time.
After chatting with Jung Seo-jin, Yu Li glanced at the wall clock. It was still early, so she ran for a while and dealt with some emails before calling Cui Ze. He picked up quickly, and she got straight to the point: "I have something to ask you."
Cui Ze choked.
As expected, it’s Kwon Wook-ri.
"What's up?"
Yu Li stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window without closing the curtains. The floor was high, so the scenery on the street was in full view.
Everything is lush and green, summer is coming.
"When I went to Yutai with you before, you told me that the previous developer of Yutai was from the capital."
Later, my attention was diverted by other things and I put this matter behind me.
When I heard it, I had a hunch that there might be some relevance in the future, and now it seems that my hunch was correct.
It happened more than ten or twenty years ago, and was related to Xu's father, Quan Weihe, and Hong Xian. She immediately thought of Yu Tai.
"Yes," Cui Ze replied. He had researched this before, and it took a lot of effort to come up with some results. Without Yu Li asking, he explained everything. "It happened twenty years ago. Except for the person who died, everyone else was from the capital. It's said that Yutai was originally a key development area. Developers bought the land hoping to build housing and a commercial street here. But then someone died, and the development plan was changed, so it's been left unused."
He hesitated at this point. Yu Li's question probably meant something was up. He told her everything he knew, "From what I've found recently, this group of people isn't ordinary. They're high-ranking and have big appetites. They're planning to take over not just the shopping street, but also hospitals and hotels."
I have the delusion of turning Yutai into a livable city that everyone aspires to.
This was heard from the elderly people in Yutai. When the locals heard that Yutai was going to be developed, they were very happy.
High status? Hospital? Hotel? Yu Li's eyes narrowed when she heard this. If that was what she thought, there would be more people involved than she imagined.
"I understand." After returning to her seat, Yu Li sent a message to Xu Jae-tan on the computer, leaving her cell phone aside. She made an appointment to meet tomorrow, but she found that Cui Ze had not hung up the phone yet.
"Anything else?"
It was purely a conditioned reflex. As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I felt that something bad was going to happen. Sure enough, a laugh came from the receiver.
“Just throw it away after use?”
"Good job."
"Kwon Woo-ri, one more day."
