Chapter 115: The Doctor Appears (Part 2)

The hall was in a mess.

Ji Xia gave the order, asking everyone to retreat indoors. Although everyone was puzzled, after experiencing so many things, the status of the special forces in the hearts of ordinary people had reached its peak, so they all retreated obediently.

The screams came from the innermost part. Before others could check the situation, more people were thrown out one after another, their backs hitting the wall, dying.

The soldiers who stayed behind immediately became alert, but they couldn't even see the other party's appearance clearly. They only felt a gust of wind flash past their eyes, and then someone screamed.

"It's... it's that monster! It's not dead, it's not dead!"

"We are finished, we are all finished, save us, save us..."

"I don't want to die yet..."

Seeing the nightmarish white shadow, the soldiers' faces changed drastically.

No one could forget the fear that figure had brought, but hadn't it been killed? Killed by He Sizhao himself on the rooftop of that building, they even went to collect the body, confirming that it was indeed dead.

So what is going on now?

There's no way they can contend with this monster!

Suddenly, an invisible airflow rushed into the room, and the monster in the crowd seemed to be fixed in place.

Finally they could see where it was, and the people nearby immediately stepped back, while the soldiers took aim and shot.

After a burst of smoke and dust, there was not even a bullet hole on the white shadow.

However, it seemed as if someone was grabbing its neck tightly, and it gradually rose up. Its two arms were scratching its neck weakly, but it could not stop the coming of death.

Seeing this invulnerable and terrifying monster die in the blink of an eye, everyone was stunned. They didn't even remember to run away. They could only stare blankly at the figure hanging in the center, watching its black hair and hands and feet hanging down together, like a hanged vengeful ghost.

Soft footsteps came from outside.

Everyone turned their heads in a daze, only to see a girl in a white dress and black hair slowly approaching from the rainstorm. All the rain was blocked by an invisible membrane before touching her. Water stains danced around her body, reflecting the incandescent light behind her, as if she was immersed in light.

Someone recognized the girl and murmured in disbelief, "Miss Jiang...?"

Only then did people realize that this was Miss Jiang, whom He Sizhao had been treating like the most precious porcelain, holding her in his mouth for fear of it melting, and holding her in his hands for fear of it falling.

Jiang Chuyi stepped into the hall, his black and white eyes looking up at the hanged ghost above, and said, "Ji Xia."

Amidst everyone's astonishment, Ji Xia, who was entrusted by He Sizhao to be the temporary head of the base, immediately ran to Jiang Chuyi and said respectfully, "Thank you, Miss Jiang, for your help."

The others didn't understand the inside story, but Ji Xia saw it in an instant. It was because of Jiang Chuyi's help that the casualties were not so severe that they could not be reversed.

He immediately admired He Sizhao's foresight. Otherwise, who would have thought that she would care about the life and death of ordinary people?

"How many people died?" Jiang Chuyi asked.

After hearing the screams, she chose to jump off the windowsill in order to save time, but the thing was too fast, and even if it was only a few seconds, it was enough for her to kill several of them.

"Three people were seriously injured and fifteen were injured. Fortunately, no one died." Ji Xia said more respectfully. He knew very well in his heart that since there was a second monster, there was no guarantee that there would not be a third and fourth. They were simply powerless to resist. Jiang Chuyi was their only hope now.

Jiang Chuyi frowned, staring at the figure above, his tone extremely irritated.

"What a hidden trick that made me reach an agreement with He Sizhao."

Before leaving, He Sizhao made it very clear that he was going to blow up the doctor's lair and she stayed behind to protect the remaining humans. Now, because of this thing, the humans under her care were injured. Although no one died, she was still very unhappy.

A light flashed in her dark pupils, and then, in front of everyone's horrified gaze, the figure hanging high in the air was pulled to the sides by an invisible force, and then pulled hard -

Bits of flesh and blood and broken limbs fell to the ground, splattering the bodies and faces of those who were a little closer with blood.

All sounds disappeared.

If you can't see at this moment that it was Jiang Chuyi who easily killed that monster just now, then you are a fool.

After Jiang Chuyi dismembered the culprit, his expression became noticeably calmer.

Ji Xia was silent for a moment, then asked cautiously, "Miss Jiang, do you want to remain on guard?"

"Whatever." Jiang Chuyi controlled his giant hand to pick up the broken limbs. "Although your defense is useless, it's okay to do something to show that you are trying hard."

As she spoke, she threw the severed limbs out of the hospital.

"Since you want to lure me out, just move on to the next step." She looked outside and said to the pouring rain, "I haven't seen you for a few days, and you've become even more disgusting."

Ji Xia thought of something and his expression suddenly changed.

The others looked at Jiang Chuyi with fear on their faces and didn't dare to speak.

Amid the crackling sound of rain, a tall and thin figure slowly walked out of the rain.

He was holding a white umbrella and strolling leisurely in the garden. Such a heavy rain did not hinder his walking at all.

The tall and thin man stopped a few meters away from the hospital, and a familiar voice came into Jiang Chuyi's ears.

"For you, it's only been a few months, but for me, it's been twenty-three years, Xiaoyi."

Jiang Chuyi's expression remained unchanged.

From the moment she saw her original self in her original self's memory, she had speculated whether the Doctor had also traveled through time, and now this situation was within her expectations.

She walked into the rain and scolded Ji Xia who wanted to follow her.

"Everyone stay inside and don't move a step."

Ji Xia didn't dare to resist and could only watch her walk into the heavy rain. He anxiously took out his communicator and started sending messages.

When others asked, "Who is she?", he kept his mouth shut and refused to say a word.

Jiang Chuyi no longer cared about what was happening behind her. She walked out of the hospital, and the raindrops once again danced around her body through a layer of film.

As she got closer, a familiar face came into her sight.

"It's you." Jiang Chuyi said, "You know it's me, not the one you raised?"

The doctor smiled. He had a pair of young and shrewd eyes, but his smile was gentle and elegant. He spoke to Jiang Chuyi like an elder lovingly teaching an ignorant child.

"Look at what you said. Whether it's you or her, aren't we both raised by me?"

He stopped in front of the severed limb thrown by Jiang Chuyi. The rain washed away the black hair on the monster's face, revealing its scarred face and wide-open eyes.

It was as if he was stepping on one Jiang Chuyi and speaking gently to another Jiang Chuyi. This scene was weird no matter how you looked at it.

Jiang Chuyi didn't argue with him, but just looked at the face under his feet.

"You used all the things you stole from her to build these things?"

"Aren't you going to ask me why I'm in this world, why I want to raise another you, and how I know you'll turn back into yourself?" The doctor acted as if he didn't hear Jiang Chuyi's words. He didn't wait for her to ask, and after she finished asking, he answered without thinking, "You still remember that explosion, I think I died there. When I opened my eyes again, I thought I was dreaming. I turned into another me, with the same identity, the same trajectory, and... you who are about to come."

He smiled nervously, but his eyes became more gentle: "I have always liked you when you were a child. You never looked at me with cold and hateful eyes. I never thought that one day I would be able to raise you again. You have no idea how happy I am."

"You don't know how much I want to vomit." Jiang Chuyi said.

The doctor shook his head fondly. "I tried a different approach this time. I wanted to keep your smile, and I succeeded. The other you always treated me like a father, which made it hard for me to extract genes from her every time."

Jiang Chuyi didn't waste any more words and waited quietly for him to finish what he wanted to say first.

He has been like this since the beginning. His strong desire to perform makes him like a drama queen. Although he is a cold-blooded abuser, he always calls her "daughter, daughter" when he is in a good mood. He will also teach other staff members a lesson if they are mean to her, as if he is really a good father.

Of course, Jiang Chuyi never paid any attention to his self-conceit. Now it seems that his acting addiction has become even more serious and there is no cure.

The doctor pretended to wipe his eyes twice, as if to wipe away non-existent crocodile tears: "That child has always affectionately called me Dad. I have been thinking for more than 20 years, how great it would be if you could also call me Dad with such sincerity..."

However, seeing Jiang Chuyi's motionless and indifferent face, he immediately put down his hand in boredom.

"You're still so cold." He said helplessly, "But don't be sad, Daddy still loves you the most. Raising another you is just a substitute. My true love is still you."

"You know her identity and what she will become." Jiang Chuyi said in a certain tone, "Otherwise, you wouldn't have suddenly brought her, who never leaves her house, to work at the military headquarters, and you wouldn't have orchestrated her framing."

"What?" The doctor was surprised. "How do you know these things... Did she tell you before she died?"

Jiang Chuyi's eyebrows moved. She keenly realized something from this sentence, but did not speak immediately.

The doctor took it as his acquiescence. He sighed softly and pinched the bridge of his nose. "It's really a headache... I thought she died on the spot, but I didn't expect she could even talk to you for a few words."

Jiang Chuyi echoed his words, "She's very simple. Besides studying, you're the only thing in her life, so you're the person she trusts the most. She can't believe you planned all this, but from what I know about you, you must have your own purpose. What is it?"

Hearing her say this, the doctor actually laughed happily.

"Xiaoyi baby, you really don't say it, but you actually care about me very much. As soon as you heard what that silly kid said, you knew it was me."

Jiang Chuyi confirmed his guess.

She originally thought that the doctor, like her, had a system or something else that allowed him to know the trajectory of this world, so he planned to train the original body into the zombie king as described in the original work, but he didn't expect that the original body would be usurped.

Now it seems that the Doctor had no idea that this world was a book, nor did he know that she had traveled here in her original body. He thought that she and her original body were two different people, and that her original body had just died when she arrived, so he took the opportunity to have a conversation with her.

This is a very important information gap.

Jiang Chuyi recalled He Sizhao's expressionless face, and imitated his expression, her voice becoming colder: "So why did you do this?"

"Because it's interesting," the doctor said. "I discovered that this world may seem the same as the previous one, but there are still many differences. For example, medical technology is far more advanced than that era. There's even a super-active virus that can free organisms from the basic needs of eating and sleeping, allowing them to work endlessly... Of course, humans call it the zombie virus."

Even though Jiang Chuyi didn't have many human emotions, he couldn't help but feel a little cold after hearing these words.

The Doctor single-handedly brought about the apocalypse, simply because he found it interesting and wanted to study the virus?

"You've become even more disgusting," she said commentarily.

"Thank you for the compliment," the doctor said politely. "But I'm still a little disappointed. This Jiang Chuyi is nothing like you. Perhaps I'm more suited to being a strict father... Loving fathers often spoil their children. This Jiang Chuyi is so fragile that she can't withstand any blow. Such a great talent is wasted. I wanted her to be the Zombie King."

His tone was full of regret, as if he was complaining about his own child who didn't get into college.

Jiang Chuyi's heart moved.

The doctor changed the subject and looked at Jiang Chuyi with pride: "Unlike you, who grew up in torture and hardship and has a strong mind. If it were you, we would have achieved my goal."

"You framed the other me just to force her into a desperate situation and then turn her into a zombie king?" Jiang Chuyi said tentatively.

The doctor nodded decisively. "I've long since discovered that she... or perhaps I should say you, your cells are capable of perfectly integrating with the super-active virus. That's why I entrusted this most important project to her and placed such high hopes on her. I didn't expect her to be so mentally fragile and, having never trained, unable to even use her abilities, to die at the hands of a human."

"So you came to me because you think I can become the Zombie King?" Jiang Chuyi asked, "You want me to replace her?"

The doctor suddenly smiled gently.

"Why, you have a boyfriend, can't dad come and see him?"
