Chapter 35 Revenge (Part 2)

Jiang Chuyi returned to the tent, and Wen Xi quickly brought her a bowl of fragrant stir-fried vegetables.

Jiang Chuyi sniffed and it was indeed the taste of He Sizhao. Although the ingredients were obviously not fresh, the superb cooking skills could cover up this shortcoming.

He Sizhao did not lie, he had indeed prepared it.

Jiang Chuyi was very satisfied. He slowly picked up a piece of food with chopsticks and put it into his mouth.

She chewed it twice and suddenly felt something was wrong. She turned her head to look at the other living person in the tent.

Wen Xi seemed to have not expected that she would suddenly look at him. He looked startled and his eyes were flustered for a moment before he calmed down and looked at Jiang Chuyi with a smile.

"What's wrong, Xiaoyi? Did Captain He not cook to your liking this time?"

Jiang Chuyi slowly withdrew his gaze and stuffed another mouthful of food into his mouth.

Then she suddenly raised her head again and saw Wen Xi, who was so frightened that he almost jumped up, with a glimmer of doubt in his eyes.

"Your fearful aura is affecting me. Do you think you're hiding it well?" Jiang Chuyi stared at her, then glanced at the tent entrance. "Also, why hasn't He Sizhao come over yet?"

Wen Xi's heart tightened. She hadn't expected Jiang Chuyi, who seemed to care nothing about anything except his own affairs, to actually see through her emotions. He chose his words carefully, "Captain He's operation tonight is indeed very dangerous. I'm a little worried."

She deliberately ignored the latter question and prayed in her heart that Jiang Chuyi was just asking casually.

However, she didn't expect that Jiang Chuyi's simple character was due to his lack of understanding of the outside world, but simplicity does not mean stupidity.

She hadn't taken Wen Xi's fear and anxiety seriously at first, but Wen Xi's words, which were intended to cover up the truth, aroused her suspicion.

She stared at Wen Xi for two seconds, suddenly dropped the cutlery, turned around and was about to leave.

"Xiaoyi!"

Wen Xi ran over nervously to stop her.

"Finish your meal first, and then I'll tell you what's going on."

She was trying to delay as much as possible, hoping that Jiang Chuyi would stop thinking about He Sizhao after she had eaten her fill.

Jiang Chuyi looked at her with his dark eyes, and a dangerous storm began to gather in his pupils.

"Get out of the way," she said.

"Xiaoyi..."

Jiang Chuyi was impatient to waste time with her, so he pushed her aside, lifted the curtain and walked out.

She followed the same path back to the open space. The bustling crowds were no longer there. Only the soldiers in charge of guarding the camp were cleaning up the place. When they saw her come out, they all looked at her in surprise.

"Xiaoyi!"

Wen Xi quickly caught up. She looked at Jiang Chuyi standing straight and motionless in the open space. Her heart skipped a beat, and then she breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, there was no extreme reaction.

She forced a smile and tried to pull Jiang Chuyi's hand: "Su Mo and Su Heng are with Captain He, they will be fine, just let them go..."

Jiang Chuyi shook her hand away.

Wen Xi wasn't angry either. She said carefully, "Captain He didn't mean to lie to you. It's just that we received news that this operation is really dangerous, and they are also concerned about your safety."

Jiang Chuyi looked at her gravely: "Lie to me?"

Without waiting for Wen Xi to answer, she suddenly sneered: "Yes, he dared to lie to me."

Somehow, Wen Xi suddenly shuddered.

She racked her brains to think of what to say to coax Jiang Chuyi, but Jiang Chuyi didn't want to listen to her nagging, so she turned around and walked towards the tent.

Wen Xi breathed a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to follow, she heard Jiang Chuyi's cold voice: "Get out of here, stay away from me."

Wen Xi thought about it and stopped.

Anyway, Xiaoyi has to go back to the tent and can't go anywhere else. Let her be alone for a while, maybe her anger will subside.

Children's anger comes and goes quickly.

The focus now is to maintain the camp. Captain He and his team are not here, and Wen Xi is the team member with the highest rank, so she must take on the responsibility of staying behind.

Wen Xi took a deep breath, a look of determination in his eyes.

Wait until she is done, then go to the tent to see Xiaoyi.

Jiang Chuyi did return to He Sizhao's tent, sat down, and picked up the cutlery again.

She ate all the vegetables in the lunch box bite by bite, but if you looked carefully, you would see that her face was expressionless and her movements were fierce.

After finishing the last bite, Jiang Chuyi was about to get up when he suddenly turned his head to look at the clean sleeping bag he had just changed into.

She picked up the empty lunch box, poured all the vegetable soup inside into her sleeping bag, and then threw the lunch box on the ground.

After doing all this, she turned and walked out of the tent, leaving only a mess on the ground.

There were not many people left in the special forces team, and the others, like Wen Xi, thought that a delicate and weak girl would not have the courage to run away even if she was angry, so they did not pay much attention to her tent.

Just like that, without alerting anyone, Jiang Chuyi left the camp in the dark.

"Hey, where is He Sizhao?" she asked in her mind.

The system, already accustomed to using it for various purposes, couldn't help but say: "Host, it's okay for me to navigate the landmarks, but there's no DPS installed on a living person, I really can't find it."

"It's really useless." Jiang Chuyi frowned. She thought for a moment and changed the question, "Scan from a distance. What are the places nearby?"

She thought simply, since they were going out, they had to have somewhere to go.

Take a look at what's nearby and your search will be narrowed down a lot.

The system could handle this question. It was silent for a few seconds, then quickly replied, its voice somewhat subtle: "About 20 kilometers from here, there is a branch base of the Shouli Tea House. It was mentioned in the original plot, but was later destroyed by the male protagonist."

"That's all?" Jiang Chuyi was a little confused. "Could they have gone there? But why would they go there?"

"To destroy this place, right? The last time they met you was when you were destroying that branch base." The system guessed.

"Didn't Su Heng deliberately ask He Sizhao to save Wen Xi?" Jiang Chuyi felt that the system was a bit stupid and didn't want to talk to it.

She looked at the vast night sky, and from time to time she could hear the howling of zombies in the distance.

In such an environment, not to mention a little girl, even a strong man with armed force would feel scared.

But for Jiang Chuyi, this was the freest air.

She took a deep breath and raised her hands habitually, as if waiting for someone to hug her.

However, as soon as she moved, she remembered that her mount had just secretly broken free from the rope and escaped.

Jiang Chuyi withdrew his arm expressionlessly, and the anger in his heart grew even more intense.

It’s such a hassle, and I have to let her move her legs herself.

Reluctantly, she activated her energy, took off into the air, and flew towards the direction of the system navigation at an extremely fast speed.

Just like the previous branch base, there is no sign of buildings here on the surface, just an ordinary forest. I wonder where they have hidden the entrance.

Jiang Chuyi landed on one of the trees and glanced around suspiciously: "Where are they? Have they gone in?"

"That shouldn't be the case," the system said hesitantly. "If they had already gone in, they would have been fighting by now. It wouldn't be as peaceful as it is now."

"Then where did they go?" Jiang Chuyi became angry. "Or did they not come here at all? Are you sure this is the only place around here?"

"This area is surrounded by jungles. It was sparsely populated before the end of the world. Where else can we go?" The system was in tears.

"Rarely visited? Then what about those zombies just now?"

"So, is it possible that zombies have long legs?" The system sneered. "They're not picky about where they live, so it's not surprising that they're everywhere."

Jiang Chuyi accepted this answer, but it was an indisputable fact that there was no sign of He Sizhao here. She slapped the tree angrily, and a thick branch snapped and fell to the ground.

Then she saw something like a telescope emerge from the bushes and scan the area where the branch had fallen.

"Is that the bug from this base?"

"It should be." The system said, "Hey, host, look, there is other movement in the bushes."

It was too dark, and even if Jiang Chuyi had better eyesight than others, he couldn't achieve night vision.

She squinted her eyes and looked down carefully, only to see some black figures wrapped in vines and weeds, crawling carefully towards her.

When they almost climbed near the tree, Jiang Chuyi recognized who was leading the group at a glance.

"That's the person you're looking for, host!" The system's voice suddenly became excited. "I didn't expect it wasn't that they didn't come, but that you were too fast. They left much earlier than you, but arrived later than you."

Jiang Chuyi didn't answer. She stared at the figure that was approaching, with inexplicable thoughts in her eyes.

The system excitedly called out for a moment, then realized something was amiss: "Host, you've seen the person you're looking for, why don't you go down and find them?"

"Looking for them?" Jiang Chuyi sneered, "Who said I was going to look for them?"

"...Then why did you come to this place instead of eating and sleeping in the tent?"

Jiang Chuyi sat on the tree trunk and began to look around.

The system began to have a bad premonition.

Its hunch proved correct.

The special forces were advancing steadily. Although there were a lot of people, they did not make any noise. If everything went well, they would directly reach the door of the base and catch the people inside by surprise.

But that's if it goes "smoothly."

Jiang Chuyi finally found what she was looking for. She raised her hand and an invisible shadow hand condensed in the night sky.

"Host!" The system was shocked. "Your body hasn't absorbed all the energy yet. You won't be able to control it if you use such a large amount of energy now!"

"You can't control such a small thing?" Jiang Chuyi said contemptuously.

The shadow hand twisted off several large trees nearby out of thin air and threw them to the ground.

Bang-dong—gulp-dong—

The entire ground was shaking and a huge sound resounded through the night sky.

The system was stunned, and the special forces were also stunned by this sudden and strange situation.

Just as they were stuck in a stalemate, the telescope camera that had just entered quickly emerged from the ground again.

It faced the face of the leader He Sizhao.

Camera:……

He Sizhao: ...

At the same time, the howling of zombies, which originally came from a very far away place, seemed to be getting closer and closer in this direction.

The author has something to say:
