Chapter 7 Abduction

When there was a knock on the door, Su Heng and Zhou Chao looked at Jiang Chuyi inquiringly.

After all, in their minds, this is Jiang Chuyi's home, and now that the owner is here, it is natural for her to make the decision.

Jiang Chuyi didn't understand their expressions. This was only the second day after she regained her freedom, and she was curious about everything and everyone in the outside world.

With this curiosity, she nodded to Zhou Chao, who was closest to her, and said, "Go, open the door."

She was not as indifferent to revealing her identity as she appeared to be. On the contrary, she cared a lot about her hard-earned freedom.

So she became more careful and knew not to use her strange ability casually.

But it was absolutely impossible to ask her to open the door for someone personally, so she could only ask someone else to do it.

"Me?" Zhou Chao pointed his index finger at the tip of his nose, so shocked that his eyes almost crossed.

He never thought that he was the only one who ordered others around, so how could anyone dare to order him around?

Seeing that the atmosphere had become tense, Zhou Chao quickly turned around and took the initiative to open the door.

Jiang Chuyi didn't care. She just wanted to ask someone to open the door. It didn't matter to her who went.

She curled up her legs and put them on the sofa, tucking her bare feet into her long nightgown.

The weather was indeed very hot, but there was definitely something wrong with her body. She actually felt a little cold in such heat.

She shrank back, almost completely burying herself in the cushions.

Soon, Su Heng walked in with two men, and the expressions of the three men were somewhat solemn.

These two men were in their prime, both strong and healthy, dressed like surviving exiles, and looked no different from Su Heng and the others.

Jiang Chuyi took a look and found that they were just two ordinary humans, so she lost interest in them. But when these two people saw her, their eyes suddenly became fixed.

Su Heng didn't notice their glances and said seriously, "The situation is not good. These two just came from the east. They found that a large number of zombies are gathering here, as if they have a unified command. If this continues, it will form a terrifying zombie tide."

Upon hearing that there would be a zombie tide, Zhou Chao immediately showed a look of horror. Jiang Chuyi's eyebrows twitched, and he already understood what was going on.

Her presence is too strong. Even if she kills all the zombies nearby, her aura has spread far away. As time goes by, more and more zombies will be attracted around her.

Su Heng introduced Jiang Chuyi to the two people: "This is the owner of this house. If you want to stay overnight or have food, you must get her consent first."

He is a decent person and would not actively think the worst of others. Moreover, the news of zombies is interfering with his thinking. Jiang Chuyi and Zhou Chao are not people who pay attention to details. Therefore, none of the three people in the room noticed that the two of them looked at each other and completed some kind of communication in an instant.

One of the honest-looking men smiled innocently, "Hello, little sister. As he said, we're a little hungry. Could you give us something to eat?"

"Why are you asking me what you want to do? It's none of my business." Jiang Chuyi didn't understand the etiquette of normal people. She didn't expect that the two newcomers would ask her all kinds of questions, and she immediately became impatient.

She touched her belly and looked up at Su Heng, "Is the meal not ready yet?"

She didn't care about the zombie tide or anything like that. The only thing she was worried about was why the food wasn't ready yet.

No one expected her to give such an answer. They were all stunned for a moment. Su Heng immediately said, "I'll go to the kitchen and ask."

After saying that, he looked at Zhou Chao hesitantly, obviously not feeling comfortable leaving him here.

Fortunately, a head popped out from the door. It was Wen Xi who had just gone to cook.

She just washed her face and hands, revealing her beautiful face.

"It's time to eat... Hey, another guest?"

She looked at the two newcomers with some surprise.

After seeing her, the two men's eyes lit up again. In a place where no one could see, they quickly exchanged gestures and then showed naive smiles.

"Hello, hello, we are just a little hungry on the road and want to find something to eat."

Such exiled survivors were very common in the apocalypse, and Wen Xi had no doubts. She looked at Jiang Chuyi, who looked as if it had nothing to do with her, and then looked at Su Heng.

After receiving his affirmative sign, she nodded and said, "I just prepared some extra food. Let's eat together."

Hearing that the food was the best, Jiang Chuyi moved and stood up from the sofa.

Wen Xi led them to the restaurant, and said with some surprise on his face, "I didn't expect the water and electricity here were still connected. Although the vegetables in the refrigerator's refrigerated section have gone bad, the meats in the frozen section are still good. This is a rare delicacy in the end times."

Hearing that there was meat to eat, not only Jiang Chuyi, but even Su Heng's eyes lit up and he walked a little faster.

After the outbreak of the apocalypse, it became increasingly difficult to collect supplies. Being able to eat something was considered a blessing, so how could one expect to be able to cook a good meal of meat?

Wen Xi brought Jiang Chuyi to the main seat and considerately pulled out a chair for her.

Jiang Chuyi glanced at her and singled her out in his mind, listing her as the only one who was pleasing to his eyes among the group of people.

Just as Wen Xi said, the table was full of meat dishes, including chicken, duck, fish and goose, and it was surprisingly rich.

She hadn't eaten such delicious food for a long time, so she was inevitably excited when making it. Only then did she realize that it was not hers. She didn't know if it would be wasted too much, so she looked at Jiang Chuyi nervously.

Jiang Chuyi was looking at the food with a strange look, then slowly picked up a piece of roast goose and put it into his mouth.

Seeing that she didn't show any dissatisfaction, Wen Xi breathed a sigh of relief.

However, not to mention that these were not originally Jiang Chuyi's, even if they were hers, she probably wouldn't know how to write the word "waste".

She chewed the roast goose in her mouth, her movements becoming slower and slower.

Everyone else started eating like crazy with shining eyes, but she frowned and swallowed the roast goose, then carefully picked up a piece of chicken.

After trying them one by one, she put down her chopsticks.

Wen Xi noticed her movements and asked with concern: "What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

If someone else had asked, Jiang Chuyi might have turned her face away, but now she had some good feelings towards Wen Xi, so she didn't leave immediately. She just said directly, "It's too disgusting."

As soon as these words were spoken, several people put down their chopsticks, and Wen Xi's face looked a little embarrassed.

Time was tight, and since the frozen food was already seasoned, she didn't really do any complicated processing, but...

She looked at her greasy hands and the other men who were eating as if they wanted to swallow their tongues, and couldn't help but sigh deeply.

This girl's previous protector must have made her such a delicate and picky person.

"Is there nothing else to eat?" Jiang Chuyi asked, "Green, crispy vegetables, called green vegetables. Have you ever eaten them?"

This problem is not solved by several people.

Wen Xi looked at Jiang Chuyi with a loving gaze and said softly, "The vegetables in the kitchen are all spoiled. At a time like this, fresh vegetables are harder to find than meat. Don't you like meat?"

Jiang Chuyi shifted his gaze to the meat on the table with a strange expression.

In order to ensure the purity of her body and mind, those people never fed her meat, saying they were worried about polluting her.

She used to watch TV and when people on the show ate something she had never eaten before, she would make a fuss and ask for it. But not only was she not satisfied, but even her TV was confiscated for a week.

From that day on, she never tried to ask what she wanted again.

After so many years, her taste buds and stomach can no longer accept this kind of thing.

Jiang Chuyi recalled the experiences of his previous life and his mood suddenly became bad.

But she didn't do anything, just sat in her seat and stared at the food as if she wanted to kill it.

Seeing that she didn't reply, Wen Xi couldn't resist his desire for food, so he put her aside for the time being and started eating again.

When everything was almost cleared out, these people began to worry about the zombie tide.

"We originally wanted to stay here for one night, but now it seems that's not possible." Su Heng said with a wry smile, "Without a car, in order to avoid the zombie horde, we can only set off as soon as possible and move forward as fast as possible, hoping to avoid their path."

"Hurry again?" Zhou Chao let out a strange cry, looking reluctant. "I've been walking for several days and I'm almost dead tired. Can you guys get a car?"

"You don't have a car? In this world, it's hard to get around without a car." One of the two men who came later looked surprised. He didn't hear Chu Yi when they introduced each other's names, so he didn't know his name.

"Third brother, to be honest, we originally drove here, but starting from a few days ago, for some reason, the zombies in this area have been gushing out like crazy, and it has become difficult for us to escape." Wen Xi said.

Oh, so his name is Lao San, Jiang Chu thought.

As for why there were suddenly more zombies... she thought it was because her original body had gradually evolved here before, just like her now. Before she completely turned into a zombie king, she had an inexplicable attraction to zombies, which caused Su Heng and the other two to suffer.

Another man asked, "Where are you guys going in such a hurry? Do you have a destination?"

"We are going to the survivors' headquarters." Su Heng said.

"Main base?" A gleam of light flashed in the eyes of the third brother, and then a look of worry appeared on his face. "That road is very long. Are you planning to walk there like this?"

"There is no other way. We have searched all the abandoned cars on the road, but none of them are usable." Su Heng said helplessly.

"Tsk." Zhou Chao rolled his eyes and spat softly, "Useless thing."

Su Heng and Wen Xi both looked unhappy.

Is it hard to find the car? Jiang Chuyi blinked and thought of the sports car he parked outside the door.

The third brother and the other man looked at the turbulent look of the three people, and a calculating look flashed across their faces.

Another man spoke, seemingly nonchalantly, but actually echoing what the third man had just said: "Then why don't you find a base first and restock your supplies before leaving? At least you need a car, otherwise how can you hold on?"

"Base..." Wen Xi seemed to be thinking, "Is there a survivor base nearby?"

"Of course there is." The third brother said immediately, "It's not particularly close. There is a medium-sized base over a hundred kilometers away. It turns out to be Ning City. We are from there. You can go back with us, find a car and continue on the road."

"More than a hundred kilometers..." Su Heng hesitated.

The system explained to Jiang Chuyi in his mind: "Ning City and the main base they are going to are not on the same road. If they deliberately go around it, it will delay them."

Jiang Chuyi listened, thought for a moment, and said encouragingly, "You did a great job, Chuchu."

System: What's with that tone of voice that's like praising a dog for bringing back a frisbee?

Jiang Chuyi: If your pet does what you like, shouldn’t you encourage it?

"Over a hundred kilometers isn't a big deal in peacetime, but with the current situation, there are so many variables that we don't dare take the risk." Wen Xi said apologetically, "Thank you for your kindness."

"Wen Xi, are you out of your mind?" Zhou Chao suddenly turned his head and looked over. "When you didn't have a car, you said you didn't have one. Now that you finally have a base and give you a car, you don't want to go anymore? Are you deliberately making me suffer?"

"How could there be such a question?" Su Heng's face darkened. "Wen Xi has already explained the reasons. What are you still doubting?"

After all, he was born into a military family and had a fierce aura about him. Before, he had a gentle personality, which made people feel easy to approach, but now he suddenly became gloomy, and that aura pressed towards him, making Zhou Chao speechless for a moment.

Jiang Chuyi glanced at him in surprise. This person...

Zhou Chao's face gradually darkened. He lowered his head and stopped talking, with a sinister glint in his eyes.

"Ah, you're worried about the long distance and the detour, right?" The third brother said understandingly, "Don't worry about that. We're actually a small team out here looking for supplies. We've set up a simple camp a few kilometers away. If you don't want to go to the base, you can come with us to the camp and see if there's any extra vehicles we can share with you."

"Really?" Wen Xi immediately raised his head, "That's great!"

Su Heng's eyes lit up, but he still had some concerns: "But..."

"Oh, there's no but. The world is full of monsters now. Shouldn't we living people help each other?" The third brother said with a smile, hiding the look in his eyes.

Then when Su Heng and the other two were happy, he turned to Jiang Chuyi.

"Miss, it's not safe for you to live here by yourself. Why don't you come with us? It's up to you whether you want to go to the main base with them or follow us back to the Ning City base."
