The younger brother in front of me doesn't look much different from usual.
Even the wounds on his face have completely healed.
But the black ring around his eyes, which was covered by demonic energy, and his scarlet pupils made his mind go blank for a moment.
"elder brother..."
The moment Shi Limingyue saw her brother, tears welled up in her eyes and she threw herself from her bed towards him.
Bang--
With a soft thud, Shi Limingyang, who had been stunned, was slammed hard to the ground.
However, Shi Limingyue was unaware of any of this; she simply nestled in the arms of her most admired older brother and cried loudly.
"I killed someone... Brother, save me..."
Shi Limingyang looked down at his younger brother who was crying in his arms, his expression blank, his eyes filled with endless regret.
I regret my arrogance, I regret not taking better care of my younger brother...
Tears welled up in my eyes and streamed down my face.
A drop landed on Shi Limingyue's neck.
Shi Limingyue stopped crying for a moment, then raised her head with tears streaming down her face.
He was stunned when he saw his brother's tears; it was the first time he had ever seen his brother cry.
"elder brother..."
He didn't know why, but seeing his brother cry made his heart ache.
He was instantly filled with guilt; he felt sorry for his brother's care and upbringing over the years.
Shi Limingyang snapped out of his daze, quickly wiped away his tears, and revealed his usual sunny smile. He gently wiped away his younger brother's tears and said with a smile:
"It's nothing, it's nothing, my brother just got some sand in his eyes."
He then used his hands to support himself on the ground, picked up Shi Limingyue, stood up, and said casually:
"Okay, stop crying. You can't cry on your birthday."
"But..."
"It's okay, your brother will take care of everything for you."
Shi Limingyang smiled and patted his head:
"Trust your brother."
With just a simple sentence, he instantly calmed his younger brother down.
He believed that his brother would solve all his problems.
After saying that, he picked up the cake from the ground, opened it, and found that it had rotted into a mess.
Seeing his older brother acting as usual, as if it were really a small matter, the younger brother felt much more relaxed.
But he didn't see Shi Limingyang's trembling hands when he opened the box.
"You are 11 years old starting today."
Shi Limingyang smiled and lit eleven candles.
"Make a wish?"
He said with a smile.
The younger brother nodded, closed his eyes, bit his lip, and silently made his wish.
Seeing this, the older brother sang a birthday song from the side:
"Happy birthday to you..."
He laughed as he sang, and then he cried.
He didn't tell his younger brother that this birthday was meaningless, that he had been forever stuck at the age of ten.
"elder brother..."
After making his wish, the younger brother asked softly:
Will my wish really come true?
The older brother said with a smile:
"It definitely will."
"Can even the wish to resurrect someone be granted?"
Shi Limingyang was taken aback. His younger brother bit his lip, looking like he was about to cry, and said sadly:
"I regret it, and I want those people to come back to life."
Although he was young, he knew that killing someone would lead to his arrest, and he didn't want to leave his older brother.
The older brother simply chuckled softly:
"Idiot, your wishes won't come true if you say them out loud."
"Oh, then, what should we do?"
"It's okay, you can make another wish next year."
"Oh... okay."
In the evening, as usual, the older brother told his younger brother a bedtime story. As he told the story, the younger brother fell asleep in his arms.
He shut his mouth and looked down at his sleeping younger brother in his arms.
The suppressed emotions finally erupted, and her expression twisted in pain.
He still remembered what his father had told him:
[Yang, as a spirit master, it's better to kill ten thousand innocent people than let one guilty person go free. The demon race will inevitably fall into depravity; it's the nature of this race.]
But... what if it's a younger brother?
What should I do?
Golden light shone in Shi Limingyang's hand, which he placed on his younger brother's head. His hand trembled incessantly, and tears streamed down his face.
He remembered many things, including the day he was born, when he excitedly danced and shouted in the hospital:
I have a younger brother!
I remembered the first time my younger brother called me "brother," and how he always liked to hug me while sleeping and always insisted on holding my hand when we walked...
The laughter and joy of the past caused the golden light in his hand to slowly dim.
Gently stroking his face, she said in a trembling voice:
"I'm sorry, Father, he's innocent. I'm the guilty one..."
As he spoke, he held his younger brother in one arm, glanced around, and took out a jade pendant with his other hand.
This was the only valuable thing his parents left him: a small alternate world. It wasn't very big, but it was big enough to move around in.
So he packed his things and fled with his younger brother overnight.
Shi Limingyue didn't ask any more questions. No matter what his brother wanted to do, he was willing to stay by his side.
Later, his brother told him about the demon race and spirit masters.
The two brothers began a life of wandering, catching demons and traveling along the way.
They can only take on side jobs to catch demons.
I can no longer accept those high-paying missions in the Spirit Master world.
To avoid attracting attention, he finally shaved off his silly-looking watermelon head.
When I came back, my younger brother teased me mercilessly.
