Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Wang Sheng took a quicker step, leaned over, and asked Shi Ye, "Master, where are you going? You're not going to catch ghosts in broad daylight, are you?"

Shi Ye seemed to be walking aimlessly, looking around.

Wang Sheng followed to see, but he didn't pay attention for a moment and blocked the road in front of him. Shi Ye turned around and bumped into him.

Wang Sheng quickly took two steps back and apologized, "Oh my god, I didn't mean to do that."

The man in front of him waved his hand without much sincerity. Shi Ye stopped, looked at him, and asked, "Are you usually like this, idle and unruly?"

"Who said that? My stall is still there. I just thought we were destined to meet and wanted to chat more." Wang Sheng grinned, walked to the bun stall next to him, and threw a few copper coins.

"Give me a sesame cake."

Boss: "Okay! Hey, this guy next to you looks unfamiliar, he's here for you." He winked at Wang Sheng.

Wang Sheng threw a few more copper coins and said, "No way, stop asking questions and give me another one."

The boss chuckled and said, "Yeah, he's much more straight-looking. Come on, I'll pick the bigger one from his."

Wang Sheng, who had just taken a bite of the pancake, almost choked and pointed at him angrily, "Why? Can looking good be eaten? I don't even have that kind of treatment."

"Go, go, go. Everyone who comes is a guest. Come, take the sesame cake."

The boss stuffed the big pancake into Shi Ye's hand while he was standing upright. Shi Ye was holding the oil paper in his hand, looking very surprised.

Wang Sheng found him so silly that he was amused. He went over and bumped into his shoulder: "It's your treat. Even gods need sesame cakes."

Then I took a big bite, the meat was juicy and looked delicious.

Wang Sheng walked away mumbling, "How did you make this? Why does my food always taste a little off?"

Shi Ye lowered his eyes. The pancake in his hand was still hot. He wrapped it in oil paper, held it in his hand, and then walked forward.

"Let me tell you, even though Zhang County is remote, there are so many interesting things there. Otherwise, how could that kid Zhang Wei make so much money? There are restaurants all over East Street. You can ride horses in the north, listen to music in the south, and go fishing in the west."

Seeing him acting like a local tyrant, he suddenly blurted out, "Didn't you say you couldn't recognize everyone?"

Wang Sheng paused, suddenly remembering that he had said this before. He didn't expect that this person still remembered it. He said reluctantly, "I can't recognize them all. How can I recognize a girl like you..."

Someone stopped him and asked, "Mr. Wang, what vegetables are you buying today?"

He waved his hand: "It's still early, come back in the afternoon to buy."

This interruption was a way out for Wang Sheng to save face. He simply put the matter behind him and concealed the fact that the girl did not like him.

He touched his nose and saw that Shi had not eaten the pancake, so he asked, "Why don't you eat it..." Wang Sheng stepped on a slippery stone, and suddenly felt dizzy and fell backward.

Shi Ye, who was following behind, subconsciously grabbed his arm and pulled him back with force. Wang Sheng's forehead hit Shi Ye's face directly.

After Wang Sheng stood firm, he breathed a sigh of relief and patted his chest in fear. "I'll go! I'll scare your dad to death."

In the attic next door, several beautifully dressed girls covered their mouths with handkerchiefs and exclaimed, "Oh! Look, there's blood!"

Wang Sheng looked at Shi Ye and suddenly felt that the sky had darkened. A stream of blood flowed down Shi Ye's handsome face. Shi Ye's face was ashen and he glared at Wang Sheng. His eyes seemed to have substance and could immediately turn into a knife to stab Wang Sheng.

"I, I'm going to find some medicine for you. Wait for me, I'll be back soon!"

He pressed two acupuncture points on his body and his nose stopped bleeding. It was not right to just wipe the blood with his hands, nor was it right to just leave it alone.

"Brother, go on."

A balled-up handkerchief was thrown down from the attic, fluttering towards him. Shiya caught it out of politeness.

The girls were a little anxious and worried, "Hurry up and wipe the blood off."

Tokiya hesitantly covered his nose and nodded, "Thank you."

Suddenly, he saw a puppet on the ground. The puppet had a ponytail standing up and a sword on its back. It was so vivid that one could recognize who it was at a glance.

Is this the one Wang Sheng was carving last night?

He picked up the puppet, why him?

The girls all said one after another: "This puppet is so beautiful. It must have been dropped by that boy just now."

Someone brave enough asked Shiye directly: "Can you sell this to me? It looks really nice."

"Forget it, this guy might not want to sell it. Who would carve puppets specifically for other people?"

After the girls looked at each other, they all laughed like silver bells with ambiguous meanings.

He stuffed the puppet into his inner clothes and walked away while covering his nose.

Wang Sheng stumbled to a clinic and rushed in, asking, "My friend has a nosebleed. What should I do? Doctor!"

"Why are you in such a hurry? A nosebleed won't kill you." The doctor came out from the inner room, fiddling with medicine, frowning and saying dissatisfiedly.

A nosebleed won’t kill you, but it will kill someone else immediately.

Wang Sheng ran directly to the medicine cabinet and rummaged through it. "Golden wound medicine, golden wound medicine."

The doctor quickly came over with a handkerchief to stop him: "What kind of medicine do you need? Just soak this handkerchief in water and cover your face with it."

Wang Sheng took the handkerchief, thanked the doctor, and rushed back with the wet handkerchief, but found that the person was no longer there.

"Where's he?" He looked around, and then someone above him smiled softly and said, "He left out of shyness."

Gone? Still shy? Wang Sheng really didn't understand.

Not finding the person, he could only turn back and ask the waiter if he had seen the man with a nosebleed coming back. The waiter shook his head. He could only give up and go back to guarding the stall.

It was almost dark but Wang Sheng still hadn't seen Shi Ye. He looked at the sky and had no choice but to grit his teeth and go home.

Wang Sheng became more and more suspicious as he thought about it along the way. He couldn't offend Shi Ye by embarrassing him in the street, right?

Forget it, I'll go and apologize tomorrow. By the way, I still have some carving to do on that puppet, so I'll send it out when I get back and finish it.

From a distance, he saw someone standing at the door. When he got closer, Wang Sheng was quite surprised. "A Yue? When did you come back?"

When the man heard the voice, he turned around in surprise. He looked like a handsome scholar, and his manners were elegant but not pretentious.

The voice was gentle: "Xiaosheng, you are back. I thought you were out performing rituals for others again."

Wang Sheng asked him, "Shouldn't you still be in the academy at this time? Why are you back? Did something happen?"

Hearing Wang Sheng's three questions, Xia Yue smiled and replied, "Nothing happened in the academy. I just came back to rest. But you, since you didn't go to perform a ritual, why did you come back so late?"

Xia Yue was worried about Wang Sheng's eyes. He only knew that Wang Sheng could not see clearly at night and could not stand strong light, so he needed to cover his eyes.

At the same time, only Xia Yue, who was his best friend in Zhang County, read the books of sages but was not pedantic. He almost supported Wang Sheng to make a living with this craft. According to Xia Yue, any business that could support oneself was a good livelihood.

Wang Sheng: "Something delayed me. If you had told me earlier, I could have come back earlier to buy some food and walked in."

After sitting down, Xia Yue handed the book in his hand to Wang Sheng: "I borrowed this from the academy. Do you think you are interested?"

Wang Sheng took it, opened it, and his eyes brightened up.

"This is the handiwork of Master Li from the previous dynasty! How did you bring it out from the academy?"

This hand-made book records all of Master Li's works, big and small, with various mortise and tenon structures recorded in detail. Wang Sheng has been looking for this kind of hand-made works for a long time, and without exception, they are all incomplete copies and rubbings.

Xia Yue: "I also happened to find this handmade book in the academy. I thought you might like it, so I borrowed it. You can take your time to read it. There is no need to rush to return it."

He couldn't take his eyes off Wang Sheng, so he closed his hands.

"Okay, let's go to my house for dinner. My mom made your favorite food. It will be cold if you go back later."

Wang Sheng immediately retracted his gaze: "Okay, it just so happens that we don't have time to cook tonight, let's go."

.

The hotel's superior guest rooms.

Shiye changed into clean clothes and the bleeding stopped.

The puppet was placed on the table, the big one and the small one just staring at each other.

He didn't take what the girls said today to heart, he was just a little curious about the puppet. After all, he was not very good at it, but he was pretty good at paper cutting.

This made Wang Sheng even more suspicious. He could carve, his eyes were attractive to ghosts, but on the surface he seemed to be incompetent.

There was some movement outside the window, and he shifted his gaze. A carrier pigeon flew over and perched on the windowsill, puffing its feathers, then a not-so-perfect paper figurine emerged from the mailbox at its feet.

The paper figure floated in front of Shi Ye, rolled over, and made a childish voice: "Uncle Master, the north is not peaceful. You should go somewhere else."

The paper figure paused for a moment, then said, "Master, when will you come back? I miss you."

Shi Ye sighed, this was another piece of news that was released without telling the other uncles in the sect.

He wrote four words on the paper figure: "Don't worry when you come back late" and sent it away.

Watching the carrier pigeon fly away, Shi Ye collected his expression. He stayed in Zhang County for a few days and would set off tomorrow.

The father-in-law flew over and stood on the puppet, but the puppet was pulled away and left the room.

.

Wang Sheng and Xia Yue came back together. Xia Yue was worried about him and insisted on sending him home before turning back.

Wang Sheng: "Okay, I'm not blind, let's go back."

Xia Yue pursed his lips. In the moonlight, he stared at Wang Sheng and said, "What do you think of that small courtyard my mother mentioned? Haven't you always wanted to move to the downtown area? With my mother around, the price won't be too high."

Xia Yue's mother picked out a small courtyard for Wang Sheng and asked Wang Sheng for his opinion during dinner. However, Wang Sheng, who always wanted to make life convenient, hesitated and temporarily rejected this good intention.

Wang Sheng: "Let me think about it. This is not something that can be decided in a short time."

Not hearing the answer he wanted to hear, Xia Yue lowered his eyes and stopped persuading.

Wang Sheng seems careless and doesn't take anything to heart, but in fact he is more opinionated than anyone else.

After Xia Yue left, Wang Sheng sat in the yard and played the flute for a while.

He has been wandering around the world alone for so long. To be honest, he is very happy staying in Zhangxian, which is also the place where he has stayed the longest.

I have developed feelings for this small courtyard after living here for several years, not to mention the people I know.

If possible, he doesn't want to leave. It's not a bad idea to spend the rest of his life here.

The sound of the flute is no longer as cheerful as before, but carries with it an infinite melancholy, making it difficult to understand what it conveys.
