Chapter 15
The old man was shocked: "What does this mean?"
Shi Ye looked towards the house in front of the yard and asked the old man, "Why did the family across the street have two rooms?"
The old man said: "His daughter-in-law was clamoring to divide the family property, so they built a new house next door and expanded the yard."
As they were talking, someone from that house came out. Seeing that there was a guest here, he took a broom and swept the floor and looked around.
"His family has suffered too. That daughter-in-law is not someone to be trifled with. She's extremely aggressive. Zhizhi was often bullied by her before. We simply cut off all ties with his family."
Zhizhi is the daughter-in-law of this family.
Wang Sheng approached Shi Ye and asked curiously, "Is there something wrong?"
Shi Ye nodded and said, "The gap between the two rooms of that house is facing this side, like a knife splitting through it. This is called the Heaven's Cutting Evil. And if the Heaven's Cutting Evil is facing your home, it's bad feng shui and will bring bad luck."
"What?" The old woman rushed out with her bedding, her face red with anger, and cursed loudly: "I told him that his family couldn't separate far away from each other, but had to be next to each other. Ever since that new house was built, our family has been unlucky. So it was intentional!"
Zhizhi went over to stop the old woman: "Mom, maybe they don't know this either, don't get angry and make yourself sick."
The old woman put the bedding aside, rolled up her sleeves, and walked away angrily: "I think they can't have children themselves, so they come to make Zhizhi unable to have children too. They are so cruel and vicious. Just wait and see how I deal with them."
"mother!"
Wang Sheng saw that there was something exciting to watch, so he immediately got up and followed. His father-in-law also flew over his head to learn new words.
Shi Ye calmly drank a sip of tea. The old man asked worriedly, "Master, you said there is a solution. How do you solve it?"
We have gotten used to living here, and there is no possibility of moving up the land to build a new house.
Shi Ye: "Just plant a few trees in front of the yard to block the evil spirit."
The old man nodded repeatedly. Now they were obedient and began to think about where to dig up two trees.
The other side jumped up and started cursing. The old woman just rolled up two lumps of mud and threw them at them, spitting out a few mouthfuls and cursing them as inhuman. The other daughter-in-law was no pushover either. She stood with her hands on her hips and scolded Zhizhi, saying that even if she could give birth, it didn't matter that she could raise the child.
The anxious old woman found a urine bucket and urine spoon in the field and poured it towards his house, almost splashing on Wang Sheng who was watching the show. He stepped back, scared half to death.
Who says women are inferior to men? Even gods would have to give way to them!
Later, the old woman won and came back cursing, followed by Wang Sheng with admiring eyes.
.
In the evening, the old woman took out her long-treasured bacon and fine wine to entertain them. Apart from that, she didn't know how to repay this kindness.
Wang Sheng drank half a bowl and quickly put it down. The wine was really strong and spicy, making him laugh. The old man also said that how could he not know how to drink when he was traveling around the world. Wang Sheng begged for mercy for a long time before escaping from here.
The old woman stood in the room and said embarrassedly, "There is only one empty room that can be cleaned up. You two will have to sleep well tonight."
The room was clean and airy, and a bed had been thoughtfully prepared on the floor. After Wang Sheng and the others expressed their gratitude, they went to wash up and prepare to rest.
Wang Sheng came back first with a handkerchief draped over his shoulders. Before he even stepped through the door, Wang Sheng lay on the bed and cried out, "Ouch! My shoulders, legs, and waist are so sore. It seems I can't sleep on a hard bed anymore."
Shi Ye was sitting at the table packing up his things. Seeing that he didn't respond, Wang Sheng stepped up his pace, frowning: "What should I do? If I can't sleep well, how will I travel tomorrow?"
Zhizhi, who was passing by with a basin of water outside the house, heard the noise in the house. Her cheeks turned red and she quickly poured the water and went back, fearing that she would hear something she shouldn't hear.
Shi Ye couldn't bear to listen any longer and interrupted him: "Shut up, you sleep on the bed."
As soon as he finished speaking, Wang Sheng's waist and legs no longer felt sore. He rolled over onto the bed and covered himself with the quilt.
He leaned to the side, propping his head up, and saw Shi was also tidying up the floor bed. He kindly patted his side and said, "This bed is so big, Master, why don't you come up and share? Besides, we are all grown men. I have slept in the big bunk before, so I don't mind yours."
As soon as Wang Sheng got the bed, he forgot his origins and tried to look around deliberately, but he also looked like he was collecting dust.
Shi Ye slowed down his movements, and the next moment, before Wang Sheng's wild laughter had stopped, he saw Shi Ye blowing out the lights and walking towards him with bedding in his arms.
He took a step back and asked tremblingly, "What are you going to do?"
Shi Ye looked calm as he placed the bedding on the outside of the bed and said, "Haven't you slept on the big bunk bed before? Why don't you invite me to sleep with you?"
"I, this, you!"
She didn't care about him anymore, just lay down neatly on the outside, closed her eyes and went to sleep.
Wang Sheng was speechless. He had done something wrong himself and no one could blame anyone else.
He glanced at the slightly damp floor and was reluctant to sleep on it.
Forget it, why should he sleep on the floor? Just sleep on the bed. Why would he be afraid of him?
He lay down again, looking at the beams. There was a fist and a half's distance between them, but it was a perfect sleeping position, and they didn't have to fight for territory at night.
Wang Sheng tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. In the past, when he had no money to rent a room in an inn, he would sleep in a temple with some beggars, and he could fall asleep even with their snoring. But tonight, strangely, he couldn't fall asleep at all.
There was a maggot lying next to him. Shi Ye could no longer bear it and opened his eyes to throw Dao Zi at him: "If you don't want to sleep, go out and catch ghosts."
Wang Sheng begged for mercy: "I'll sleep, I'll sleep, isn't that okay?"
It’s so abominable. I have to take care of him when he takes a shit and sleeps. If he has the ability, he can just sleep on the floor himself.
Of course, he would never dare say such words in front of Shi Ye. He could only complain in his heart and then force himself to close his eyes wisely.
Not long after, Wang Sheng's eyelids moved for the last time and he fell asleep.
Shi hadn't gotten a full night's sleep in days, and today seemed to have made up for it all. In his dream, he felt some pain in his body, as if he had been punched several times. He pulled out his gun but couldn't find it, and looked around but couldn't find who was hitting him.
Outside the dream, Wang Sheng leaned over with one foot, and brought his right hand down from above, striking Shiye in the chest. Shiye's chest was as hard as stone, and he didn't wake up. Instead, it was the pain in Wang Sheng's hand that woke him up.
While he was half asleep, he saw something moving on the roof, which made him a little dizzy, so he opened his eyes and took a look.
When he saw clearly, his face turned pale instantly.
On the roof, there were two babies, one big and one small, clinging to the beams with their limbs. The smaller one had particularly short hands and feet, a cone-shaped skull, and a face that had not yet opened. In the night, his skin was a strange red.
The older one, with slightly longer hair and longer arms and legs, was hanging upside down, greedily looking at Wang Sheng below.
The moment Wang Sheng made eye contact with them, they seemed to have tasted something sweet. They opened their pitch-black mouths and fell down.
“Oh my god!”
For the first time in his life, Wang Sheng quickly slipped under the covers and lay on top of Shi Ye. Shi Ye suddenly woke up and quickly pulled out the Wu Men sword that was lying on the bedside. A cold light flashed, and the sword reflected the hideous appearance of the two ghost babies.
Shi Ye swung his sword, and the two ghost babies fled and avoided the sword.
Shi Ye hugged Wang Sheng and got off the bed. After letting him go, he swung his sword at the ghost baby again.
Wang Sheng gritted his teeth and took out the talismans he had stolen. He murmured, "I hope it works, I hope it works." Then he imitated Shi Ye and threw them out fiercely: "Thunder, break!"
Various talismans fell to the ground, but none of them showed any magical power.
Wang Sheng: "No."
The space inside the house was small, and the ghost babies pressed closer and closer. The smaller one was hit by a sword and was emitting black smoke. The larger one escaped through the window first, and the smaller one followed closely behind.
Shi Ye climbed out of the window and immediately inserted Wu Men into the ground. He pressed the hilt of the sword down an inch, then quickly formed seals with both hands. "The four directions are the boundaries, the five elements are the center. People have a way in, but ghosts have no way out!"
In the sky, a barrier formed as ripples spread out from the water, enveloping the family's house.
The ghost baby saw that something was wrong and wanted to escape from the barrier, but he was a step too slow and was blocked inside.
Candles were lit in other houses, and someone came out in a coat. The old woman could not see the barrier or the ghost baby, but only saw Shi Shi holding a sword and full of murderous intent.
"What's going on?"
Shi Ye turned around and asked her, "Your daughter-in-law had a miscarriage and another stillborn. Where were the dead babies buried?"
The old woman replied, "We were afraid the child would blame us if we buried him too far away, so we buried him under the willow tree in the yard."
Wang Sheng, who was hiding in the house, felt that something was wrong when he heard this.
Willow trees are mostly planted by rivers and in mass graves, and they tend to gather negative energy. This family also buried the dead baby under the tree. Even a layman like him knew that something bad would happen.
Shi Ye: "Dig out the body, quickly!"
Digging up the body? That's unacceptable.
The old woman was a little hesitant. She didn't know what she was doing. Digging up corpses was an act of disrespect to the dead no matter where they were.
The ghost babies, crouching on the fence, saw that the old woman showed no joy at seeing her family. If Wang Sheng hadn't provoked them tonight, they would have remained dormant for a long time before emerging to cause trouble, and would not have allowed this family to live in peace.
The younger one was injured, so the older one signaled the younger one to deal with Wang Sheng, and then it pounced on Shi Ye, trying to stop Shi Ye.
Shi Ye brushed the Sin Bell with his palm, and the bell tongue loosened, and the bell rang. The two ghost babies stopped, covered their heads and roared in pain.
In an instant, half of the willow tree's branches withered and leaves turned yellow, and nutrients flowed into the ground.
If Wang Sheng hadn't been afraid of delaying Shi Ye, he would have rushed out to dig up the body long ago.
Wang Sheng looked at the old woman and said, "Those two dead babies have turned into ghosts and are coming to find your wife. If you don't dig them out, your daughter-in-law will die."
The old woman was already frightened by the time, and Wang Sheng exaggerated and frightened her again. She quickly went to find a hoe and started digging under the tree.
The ghost baby recovered and was very strong, so both of them turned to deal with him.
They started fighting, and Shi Ye seized the opportunity and chopped the bigger one to pieces with one sword. But not long after, it gathered together again and pounced on Shi Ye.
Wang Sheng was stunned. How could they not die? If these living people just died immediately and turned into ghosts, wouldn’t they have eternal life?
