Chapter 155 An unexpected encounter with Qin Huairu at the pigeon market

Instead of going straight home, Ma Hua rode his bicycle straight to Pigeon City. Now that he has money, he can't resist buying things!

As they approached Pigeon Market, Ma Hua packed up his bicycle and covered his face with a scarf. After disguising himself, he walked inside.

The lookouts saw that the MCA members came empty-handed, but they didn't bother to ask any questions. The more people who came to buy things, the better, because that would make their business thrive.

Although the lookout didn't ask, MCA still took the initiative to go up and chat with him.

"Comrade, excuse me, are there any ticket scalpers around here? I'd like to exchange some tickets." Ma Hua took out a box of Daqianmen cigarettes from his pocket and handed it to the lookout.

To everyone's surprise, the man just stared coldly at Ma Hua without saying a word, nor did he take the cigarette from Ma Hua's hand.

Ma Hua wasn't angry when she saw this, after all, she had indeed been a bit rash: "I'm getting married soon."

"We don't have enough tickets at home, so I wanted to exchange some here. Look, I've already prepared the money."

The man relaxed when he saw the money in Ma Hua's pocket. Then he looked Ma Hua up and down.

Once he was sure the man wasn't there to scout the place, he took the cigarette from Ma Hua's hand. Then he waved into the alley.

A moment later, someone came out. The lookout muttered to the man, "The one exchanging tickets. A greenhorn."

The man nodded and led Ma Hua to the corner of the alley.

He whispered to MCA, "I want to exchange for some votes. What kind of votes do you want?"

“What kind of tickets do you have?” Ma Hua said softly.

"Kid, you can't sleep and you're here to amuse me? Trying to distract me, huh?!" Ma Hua's words immediately enraged him. What did he mean by "what kind of tickets do you have?" You won't tell me,

How am I supposed to know what kind of ticket you want? Damn it, this guy talks just like his wife.

"Ahem, that's not what I meant. I'm getting married soon, so I need a lot. Let me see what you have here." Ma Hua coughed twice and said somewhat embarrassedly.

"Yes, I have four sugar coupons, ten liquor coupons, and five cloth coupons here. Do you want the grain coupons and meat coupons?" the man said, looking at Ma Hua.

“Yes,” Ma Hua nodded, though he still intended to go and buy things on the surface.

"Okay, the total is forty-seven and one cents, I'll just give you forty-seven." The man was overjoyed; what a big customer! He was really making a killing.

The current MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association) doesn't take the 47th price tag seriously, and the man wasn't overcharging. They simply made the deal with him directly.

After Ma Hua finished the transaction with that person, he walked towards the pigeon market and pretended to browse and select items inside.

Actually, he was observing whether anyone was watching him. Only when he saw that no one was watching him did Ma Hua feel relieved.

Suddenly, Ma Hua noticed a young man's stall with several bottles of liquor on display.

Ma Hua walked over to the young man's stall with some interest and asked, "How much is this Moutai liquor?"

"Ten yuan a bottle," the man said lazily without even raising his eyebrows.

"Comrade, you've gone a bit too far. It sells for 2.96 yuan at the supply and marketing cooperative. This is..." Ma Hua was somewhat shocked; it was too expensive.

"Hmph, I don't need liquor coupons. Do you think the supply and marketing cooperative will accept them? And even if you did have liquor coupons..."

But does the supply and marketing cooperative have this wine in stock?

Even if the supply and marketing cooperative had the goods, would you even have a chance to buy them? You still wouldn't be able to get them! Unexpectedly, the man scoffed, leaving Ma Hua speechless.

What that person said was true; this stuff is indeed hard to buy, especially with the Lunar New Year approaching, when supplies are even tighter.

Moutai, Wuliangye, Fenjiu and the like are all extremely rare. Brother Liu kept an eye out for me for a long time and only managed to get me a few bottles of each.

"Ahem, that's true, but it's really too expensive. How about 5 yuan a bottle?"

Ma Hua then stabbed him in the waist.

"Pah, five yuan? I'd rather keep it for myself. You really want it? How many bottles do you want?"

The man realized Ma Hua wanted to buy, and immediately became interested, since he himself had been setting up his stall for several days.

Nobody asked about it at all, and now I'm a bit at a loss. I'm just thinking of making a quick sale to have a good New Year.

“I’ll take them all as long as the price is right,” Ma Hua said casually, pointing to the four bottles of Moutai and two bottles of Wuliangye on the ground.

The man thought for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said, "If you buy them all, it'll be 60 yuan, how about that?"

"It's not very good. The wine is good, but look at this place. I'm afraid that, apart from me..."

Nobody's going to buy it all for you, right? I'll give you an honest price; if you're okay with it, I'll buy it all.

If you say no, then this matter is settled.

The man nodded.

“It’s 40 in total. If you think it’s worth it, I’ll buy it. If not, then forget it,” Ma Hua said, staring into the man’s eyes.

The man thought about it for a long time and then gritted his teeth and agreed. Actually, the thing itself wasn't expensive, and he could make a profit.

Right after buying the wine, Ma Hua discovered that a nearby stall was also selling geese. Haha, the sauerkraut at this stall was already pickled; they were just waiting for the goose to be cooked!

What a coincidence! Ma Hua was too lazy to haggle and just bought both geese and several goslings for ten dollars.

Seeing that there was nothing he wanted, Ma Hua headed towards the exit of the pigeon market.

Actually, MCA didn't really want to buy anything; they just came to exchange for tickets. But since you're already here...

What kind of shopping trip is it if you don't buy anything? Is it even considered shopping if you go empty-handed?

Before Ma Hua could even leave Pigeon City, he spotted a familiar figure around the corner. Qin Huairu?
