Chapter 26 The Generous Director Li

Back inside, Ma Hua was unaware of all this. He was excitedly looking at the lush green sweet potato vines and potato seedlings. Through the controller, he learned that the crops would mature in just three days.

This is hilarious! MCA (Ma Hua's nickname) is practically laughing himself to death. This is amazing! He's got incredible luck! Why would he need to work anymore? Selling grain would be enough to make him rich!

After fantasizing for a while, Ma Hua finally calmed down. He abandoned his unrealistic ideas; if he were to produce large quantities of food in this era, he'd be doomed. Forget it, his life was more important.

Ma Hua practically fell asleep humming a song that night. After all, dreams are full of possibilities, and they're especially beautiful. Time flew by, and before she knew it, it was the next day. As usual, Ma Hua got out of bed, got ready, and went to work, meeting her mother Chen Hongyan's eager gaze.

When Ma Hua arrived at the steel rolling mill, he realized he was the first one there again. Well, since he was already there, he decided to go get some hot water first. After Ma Hua returned with the water…

Just then, Liu Lan and a few other middle-aged women were chatting away. When Liu Lan saw Ma Hua returning with water, she couldn't help but tease him, "Master Ma, why did you go fetch water yourself? We could have just done that."

"No, no, Sister Lan, please forgive me! How could I dare let you go? If I've done anything wrong, please forgive me," Ma Hua hurriedly bowed his head and admitted his mistake. Goodness, these old ladies love to tease people all the time, and he dared not offend them. If he angered them, they would directly find someone to watch the melons for him, and who could stand that?

"Hahahaha!" Just as Ma Hua finished speaking, Liu Lan stood up in the small room, laughed, and said to the people next to her, "I told you, Ma Hua isn't that kind of person. Now you can rest assured."

"Hey, Sister Lan, look at you, making fun of me so early in the morning. Fine, I can't mess with you, goodbye!" Ma Hua also cooperated by making a gesture of surrender to Liu Lan, clasping his hands and walking to the side. Ma Hua's actions made Liu Lan and the others laugh out loud, but they were even more satisfied with Ma Hua in their hearts. They were afraid that Ma Hua would be the second Sha Zhu.

The world can function normally even without someone. As it approached cooking time, Ma Hua realized that Sha Zhu still hadn't arrived. Ma Hua was puzzled. What was going on? Had the police kept Sha Zhu locked up until the very end?

As Ma Hua was pondering, Director Wang walked into the cafeteria somewhat angrily. "What's this idiot Zhu doing? He's not coming today and even had someone else call in sick for him! You bastard! I was so kind to you before!" Seeing Ma Hua's expression, his tone immediately softened: "Ma Hua, I'll trouble you to cook again today."

"Okay," Ma Hua nodded in agreement, immediately putting down her work and going straight to the stove to skillfully begin cooking. When Ma Hua finished cooking and sat down to drink water and rest, she looked up and saw Director Wang's smiling face.

"Ah, Director, what's wrong?" Ma Hua was a little surprised. Could it be that his cooking was not good?

Director Wang seemed to sense the surprise in Ma Hua's eyes, and waved to Ma Hua, saying, "Come out here for a moment."

As they walked, Director Wang said to Ma Hua, "You little rascal, what incredible luck you've had! Let me tell you, Director Li, who oversees our logistics department, wants to see you! And let me tell you, don't go around spouting nonsense when you get there."

Soon, Director Wang led Ma Hua to an office. Director Wang first asked Ma Hua to wait aside, and then he stepped forward and knocked on the door.

A deep voice came from inside the room: "Come in." Hearing the voice, Director Wang told Ma Hua to wait there, then went inside. He came out shortly after and said to Ma Hua, "Come in, Director Li wants to see you."

Only after Ma Hua entered the room did he have the opportunity to see the legendary Director Li, Li Huaide, the highest-ranking leader in the logistics department of the steel rolling mill, up close.

As soon as Ma Hua looked up, he met Director Li's half-open, half-closed eyes. Ma Hua immediately lowered his head and said softly, "Director Li, hello."

Director Li saw Ma Hua and excitedly put down his pen, pointing to the chair next to him and saying, "It's Comrade Ma Hua, isn't it? Hurry up and get in."

"When I heard Lao Wang talk about you yesterday, I thought he was lying to me, but you taught me a good lesson yesterday. You're a true hero among young people! Amazing, amazing."

“This is mainly because our director taught us well. It’s because of our director that you’re so kind to us,” Ma Hua said after thinking for a moment. Hearing Liu Lan say that Director Wang was Li Huaide’s man, wouldn’t that mean he was automatically on the same side?

"Indeed, Comrade Ma Hua has a high level of ideological awareness. By the way, according to regulations, you should have been classified as level six, but unfortunately, our factory director said we must follow the proper procedures, so we can only ask you to settle for level eight chef for now." Director Li's eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly sizing Ma Hua up.

Hearing this, Ma Hua immediately realized that Director Li was trying to sow discord between Director Yang and Director Yang. However, he had no choice but to get on this bandwagon. He stood up and said to Director Li, "I will obey the leader's arrangements. I believe Director Li will not treat me unfairly!"

"Good, good, good," Li Huaide said three times, his gaze towards Ma Hua becoming even gentler. Then, Li Huaide opened a drawer, took out a stack of receipts, and stuffed them into Ma Hua's hand: "Comrade Ma Hua, the factory has wronged you this time, so I'm personally making up for it with something."

Ma Hua hesitated for a moment, looking at the thick stack of receipts in his hand. Then he glanced at Director Wang beside him. Seeing Director Wang nod, he finally accepted them. Li Huaide, seeing Ma Hua's subtle action, was even more pleased.

After Ma Hua and Director Wang left the office and were on their way back to the kitchen, Ma Hua made sure no one was around before handing the receipt that Li Huaide had given him to Director Wang.

Director Wang was initially surprised by Ma Hua's actions, but then he realized what was going on and burst into laughter at Ma Hua.

"Alright, you can keep it. Do you think I'm the kind of person who lacks such a small thing?" Director Wang looked at Ma Hua with satisfaction. He really made a name for himself today.

"No, this is different. This is my way of showing my respect to you. Without you, where would Ma Hua be today? It's all thanks to you, Director. I wouldn't feel at ease if you didn't give me something." Ma Hua said earnestly. Even if Director Wang didn't want it, he still had to make a good impression. Just like last night when he asked Liu Lan to pack the leftovers, he had to win people's hearts.

"Alright, then I'll take one meat coupon. I can make dumplings for your aunt tonight," Director Wang said, seeing that he couldn't refuse, and took a meat coupon from Ma Hua.

Ma Hua returned to the kitchen and finally had a chance to examine the tickets Li Huaide had given him earlier. Good heavens, ten meat tickets, ten industrial coupons, and five cloth tickets. Li Huaide was really generous.
