Chapter 54 The Old Lady Takes Action

"Mom, I think someone might be trying to frame our family because it's a quick way to make money," Liu Guangtian shouted from behind. He didn't want to get beaten up again.

Everyone looked at Jia Zhangshi and Qin Huaru with suspicion. Qin Huaru immediately cried out, "How could that be? Our family would never do such a thing! You have to believe us!"

Yi Zhonghai waved his hand impatiently at Qin Huairu: "Alright, I think this is probably just a misunderstanding. You two should apologize to each other and that's it. Okay, what are you looking at? Hurry up and go home for dinner, or you'll be late for work."

Upon hearing this, Ma Hua shouted directly at Yi Zhonghai, "Uncle, yesterday the honeycomb briquettes I left outside were stolen by some worthless wretch who gave birth to a child without an anus! Didn't you say you'd find them for me this morning? Did you find them?"

"Ma Hua, what's the rush? It's just a few pieces of coal, are you making such a fuss? What a narrow-minded man! My coal's right there, anyone who wants to use it can use it," Sha Zhu sarcastically remarked from the side. Ma Hua is really stingy.

"Pfft, besides your Sister Qin, who would dare take it? Sha Zhu, what are you pretending for?" Xu Damao bluntly exposed Sha Zhu's true colors, chuckling a few times.

“Ma Hua, I think we should just let this go. I’m doing this for your own good. You’ve just arrived, and making a big fuss wouldn’t be good for you, right? Besides, it’s been so long, it’s hard to investigate now. All honeycomb briquettes look pretty much the same,” Yi Zhonghai quickly put on an act of concern, as if he wasn’t worried about her and was just looking out for her.

"Uncle, that's not what you said last night! What's wrong? Just because I, Ma Hua, am new here, you think you can bully me like this? Which rotten slut, born without an anus and covered in sores and pus, stole my honeycomb briquettes? Aren't you afraid of rotting your hands and tainting your heart?"

"I think this man is a beast, and his child probably won't be any better," Ma Hua said, cursing from the side.

The onlookers wanted to laugh but dared not, and simply stared at Jia Zhangshi as if watching a spectacle.

"Who are you calling a bad person? And what are you all looking at?" Jia Zhangshi couldn't hold back any longer and directly confronted him. She had wanted to retort as soon as she heard Ma Hua making veiled accusations, but Qin Huairu had stopped her.

Hearing MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association) insulting his own grandson is unbearable. Bang Keng is their only son, destined for high office.

“I cursed the person who stole my honeycomb briquettes, so what, Aunt Jia? Did you steal my coal?” Ma Hua smiled and looked at Jia Zhangshi and Qin Huairu, clearly seeing a hint of hatred flash in Qin Huairu’s eyes.

“How could that be? Everyone knows that the Jia family never steals anything, and never takes a single needle or thread from the people in the courtyard,” Jia Zhangshi hurriedly defended herself.

"Hahahaha. Hahahaha!" The onlookers couldn't hold back any longer after Jia Zhangshi finished speaking. They were already holding back their laughter, and now hearing Jia Zhangshi say this... It was hilarious! The biggest joke of the era: the Jia family had no thieves! Hahahaha.

"What are you laughing at? Am I wrong?" Jia Zhangshi glared fiercely at the crowd of onlookers, laughing, "If you keep laughing, I'll steal everything from your house."

"Alright, I think this matter is settled. No one is allowed to mention it again." Yi Zhonghai glared at Ma Hua and said forcefully. This was his territory, kid. He was in charge. Yi Zhonghai was certain that even if Ma Hua reported it to the police, there was nothing he could do. They wouldn't be able to find anything.

"Honey, Uncle, something terrible has happened! Our coal has been stolen!" An elderly woman rushed in from the middle courtyard in a panic.

The older woman had finished emptying the old lady's bedpan and taking care of her, and was about to go home to cook when she discovered that her coal and cabbage were gone.

Upon hearing that his belongings were also gone, Yi Zhonghai immediately flew into a rage: "Hold a meeting tonight! A major meeting! No one is allowed to be absent!"

"Hey old man, didn't you just say this was a small matter? Why are you saying there's a meeting tonight? Tsk tsk, I get it. Sure enough, you don't know the pain until you're stabbed yourself," Ma Hua said sarcastically from the side.

Yi Zhonghai, let me show you what it's like to lose things. See? You just said you didn't care, what happened? Now that it's your turn, you're all worried? Aren't you contradicting yourself?

“Zhonghai is doing this for everyone’s sake. Things have been stolen from the courtyard for two days in a row, which is no small matter. Zhonghai is thinking about everyone’s well-being. What if a thief breaks into your house today? I, the old lady, support Zhonghai’s decision to hold a meeting tonight. What do you all say?”

The deaf old lady walked over, leaning on her cane. Her silver hair was neatly combed back, and her complexion was rosy; at first glance, she seemed like a kind and gentle old woman.

Unfortunately, Ma Hua saw a glint of light in the deaf old woman's eyes. This old woman was not easy to deal with. The trap he had dug for Yi Zhonghai had been broken by her. This old woman with bound feet was still thriving in life, so she must have something extraordinary about her. He couldn't underestimate her.

Upon hearing the deaf old woman's words, the onlookers immediately nodded in agreement. Their own families didn't have that much money to buy coal, and if it were stolen, how would they survive the winter?
