Chapter 30 Diary "I Killed Him"
"Beauty Diary?" Xie Shuqin dug out a notebook from among the piles of dust and opened the page in confusion.
"March 28th was the opening day of the beauty salon, and Mr. Qi proposed to me. We put on the rings that symbolize our love, and it was a double happy day."
"It looks like a diary from a hundred years ago." Xie Shuqin glanced at the people around him. "Brother, have you finished looking through it? I just need the chip output."
Baili Yunle choked on several mouthfuls of dust as he stuffed the last copy of the bionic human research document into his bag. He coughed and complained, "What kind of place is this? It looked clean, but it's all dusty. I can't even understand the document. It's all ABC and 123."
As he spoke, he fixed his hair in front of the mirror with a distressed look.
Xie Shuqin rolled her eyes: "Don't bother with that yellow-haired guy, come and take a look at this."
"Hey, can we get something we can understand? We don't want to be scolded by two doctors again for handing over a bunch of scraps because we can't understand them...log?" Baili Yunle approached, puzzled. "I thought this place only had boring reports."
The cover of this diary is very old and is wrapped in a layer of brown paper. The handwriting inside is a little blurred, but it is still clearly recognizable.
"This is from a hundred years ago." Xie Shuqin flipped through the first page. "The owner of the diary opened a beauty salon."
She pointed to the photo of the beauty salon entrance and the business license attached to the first page of text and said, "Look at the name. It's the same company as the beauty flyer we saw in the building last time."
Baili Yunle knew she wasn't trying to point out the company's long history. He frowned. "What a coincidence! Xu An deliberately leaked the information about the androids to us. He even took advantage of the captain's sympathy and slipped us the chip to search for androids and the war of humanity... Who leaked it to us this time? The humans on the ground?"
Xie Shuqin continued, "Whether someone deliberately told us or not, this beauty salon appeared in a place full of bionic human research materials. It must be something special."
Baili Yunle immediately cut open the chip on his wrist, but there was still no signal.
"I can't notify anyone else. The chip output isn't finished yet. How about we take a look first?"
The two looked at each other and immediately came together to turn to the second page:
"On March 29, the beauty salon opened as scheduled and had a lot of customers. Perhaps Mr. Qi's previous promotion had an effect."
"April 2nd was my first surgery. I was very nervous, but fortunately the surgery went smoothly and the client was very satisfied. However, I felt there were some shortcomings. I wish she could listen to me and do the same."
"On April 8, I was very happy to receive an invitation from the Institute of Biology. They were very interested in my cosmetic surgery skills and took me to their experimental subject laboratory, where I saw the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen in my life.
"She is 173 centimeters tall and weighs 60 kilograms. She has beautiful muscles and a very fair complexion, at least whiter than most people I've seen. Her face is perfectly shaped, with a golden ratio. Researchers say she grew into this shape naturally, without any artificial modification. I was very surprised and admired it. What impressed me even more was her back, which was so flawless white that for a moment I thought she was an angel.
"It's a pity she never woke up, otherwise I would have known what her eyes looked like. They must have been very beautiful. Before leaving, I glanced at her name. I think I will always remember her, 0302."
"On May 13th, last month, Mr. Qi launched the holographic system. Many clients choose to have their faces shaped in the system before having me do the surgery. This severely limits my ability to perform the surgery. I can't discuss with the user which solution is more aesthetically pleasing. Instead, I become a machine on the operating table! If that's the case, why did Mr. Qi keep me as the lead surgeon? He's so good at developing systems, why not just make a machine and do the surgery himself?"
"On July 7th, I've had enough of him! He's completely unreasonable in his pursuit of profit! Not only does he not allow me to discuss beauty plans with clients, he also won't let me tell them about the risks of the options they've chosen. This is already the third client I've seen who has had to come back to the salon multiple times because of failed plastic surgery. She was so beautiful before, and it's clear she only needed one area fixed to be perfect, so why won't I be allowed to mention it?!"
"On July 25th, Mr. Qi hired other beauticians behind my back, using the excuse of a lack of staff due to the expansion. More and more clients have had their appearances altered. One of them had a straight nose, but he tricked her into turning it upside down. He even criticized my aesthetics! What does he know? He's just a money-maker!"
"On July 28, Mr. Qi became increasingly aggressive. He wouldn't let me go out. He locked me in the room all day, only allowing me to go to the bathroom in the morning and evening..."
The paper at the back was torn and only the words could be barely made out.
Xie Shuqin and Baili Yunle looked at each other and turned the page again.
As expected, more than a dozen thick pages were torn off at the back, and one could even faintly see a drop of dried blood in the traces.
The handwriting on the next page was very steep and sloppy, but you could still tell it was the same person who had been keeping the journal before.
The two struggled to decipher the words written on it: "September 3rd, I killed him."
"She killed Mr. Qi?" Baili Yunle frowned. "A hundred years ago, I only know of one person with the surname Qi who was involved in beauty. He was the first person to undergo genetic modification, as recently discovered in the literature."
Recently discovered terrestrial data reveals that a hundred years ago, terrestrial technology was rapidly developing, and humanity was constantly fighting for resources, engaging in numerous technological wars. However, technological warfare was far from sufficient to secure the vast resources, and humanity instead turned to primitive warfare. The terrestrial world was divided into multiple polar regions, and bionic humans were developed as weapons of war.
Unfortunately, after many technological wars and small-scale wars, the alien species arrived.
Humans still haven't figured out what kind of creatures the alien species evolved from or mutated from. They only know that they suddenly appeared when a multipolar war was about to break out, and humans on the ground had to work together to fight against the alien species.
But the casualties in the battle with the alien species were very heavy.
Any weapon of the humans on the ground seemed dwarfed by the aliens. Not to mention the strange, still-unidentified bromine mist, even before they could get close to the aliens, they were crushed into a pool of bloody mud by the mental waves.
In addition, the bionic technology is not stable, and humans on the ground do not dare to directly release bionic humans to fight against alien species. When they were at a loss, Lin Yu, a popular star in the biological science community, first proposed the idea of extracting alien genes to modify human genes.
Xie Shuqin said in a deep voice, "This is undoubtedly a very advanced idea for the humans on the ground. After all, they are also afraid that they will mutate into creatures like the aliens."
Baili Yunle nodded.
The answer is obvious. As soon as this paper was published, it was hotly discussed, and the response was all rejection and abuse.
But as the war became more brutal, many people began to change their attitudes, and even later biologists published new papers.
"Later, the founder of a famous beauty salon volunteered to be a human test subject for genetic modification. This person's surname was Qi," said Baili Yunle.
Xie Shuqin nodded. "So, under everyone's watchful eyes, the experiment was half-successful. Although this Mr. Qi had 50% of his ability awakening value, he had lost his mind. However, the amazing thing is that he obeyed his wife's orders 100%. However, if these two Mr. Qis are the same person, then how do we explain the record in the diary about the wife killing her husband? Isn't Mr. Qi dead?"
Baili Yunle nodded intermittently, his brow furrowed. Suddenly, he looked up and said, "The information doesn't mention whether Mr. Qi was dead or alive when he donated his body, right?"
"You mean to say she killed Mr. Qi and then donated his body to the Institute of Biology for experiments?" Xie Shuqin's eyes widened, but she quickly calmed down. "No, if he was already dead, how could the file say he was only unconscious but still able to move freely? Wouldn't that mean he was brought back to life?"
"There must be something I haven't noticed." Xie Shuqin murmured. She glanced at the diary and suddenly froze.
"Wait!" Jie Shuqin took the notebook. Under the torn pages, there was a very light mark left by the tip of a pen.
The two of them read along the indentation. The handwriting was slightly neater than the previous page, but one could still tell the owner was in a state of great emotional turmoil:
"I really can't stand it anymore. He scolds me and beats me, destroys my dreams, and treats all my hard work as his cash cow."
"I escaped from the house and we killed him together."
"We?" Xie Shuqin was a little surprised. "With whom? Could it be 0302?"
"This number is so strange, it seems to be everywhere. Do you remember the bionic man flyer we saw earlier?" Baili Yunle's face became increasingly serious. "There was a person on the flyer who looked exactly like Xu An, and she had 0302 written on her body."
Xie Shuqin's eyes widened. "But...but wasn't this a hundred years ago? Even if Xu An is a bionic man, he can't possibly live this long, right? How is this different from the previous speculation about resurrection? This number might be inherited?"
"But the height and weight described in the diary are exactly the same as those in Xu An's file. Moreover, Xu An's face does conform to the golden ratio. This kind of appearance is rare. It can't be such a coincidence, right?"
They were both silent for a moment, and Xie Shuqin suddenly looked up: "No, a hundred years ago, were there bionic people?"
“…”
“…”
If it is really Xu An, then what does this experimental subject mean?
Xie Shuqin felt a chill on her back and glanced at Baili Yunle hesitantly, "It can't be her... This is too unbelievable..."
As soon as she finished speaking, she felt a sudden sharp pain in her wrist. A small electric current flowed into her wrist, causing it to tremble slightly.
"These chips are invading my biochip!" Xie Shuqin gritted her teeth and clicked force exit, but was still clamped tightly.
"These electronic chips are not broken, they are deliberately implanted with viruses!" Baili Yunle hurriedly took out the spare chip and connected it to the chip in the cabinet with the highest connectivity.
"It still doesn't work!"
"We can't let it counter-invade us. If it leaks information about the base through my chip, it will be over!" The feeling of the connection being forcibly torn rushed into her nerves. Xie Shuqin gritted her teeth, pulled out a dagger from her leg bag, and stabbed it into her wrist without any hesitation, digging out her chip.
The connection is terminated instantly.
Blood, flesh, and smoking chips mixed together and fell to the ground. Xie Shuqin was in so much pain that she was sweating profusely. She half-knelt on the ground and couldn't speak for a long time.
Baili Yunle immediately took out emergency medicine and gave her a simple treatment before quickly wrapping her up. He also said to her, "You look sweet, but you are so cruel to yourself."
Xie Shuqin paused, her face still a little pale. "I can't force it out, so I can only force the chip out of my body, deactivating its biological functions and shutting it down. My chip contains too much information about the base, and we don't know who's behind this. We can't let them take it away."
Baili Yunle didn't say anything. He silently picked up the chip on the ground, cleaned it up briefly, and threw the culprit into his bag.
"Let Dr. Yao handle this kind of thing." He reached out and pulled Jie Shuqin up. "Let's go to the next place."
