Chapter 1 The Jade Pendant as a Warning

At midnight on February 1, 2050, in a villa in northern Tang City, Bai Shuang suddenly jolted awake in her sleep, her eyes snapping open—

The entire bedroom was bathed in intense light.

Blue.

Red.

Yellow.

...

Several colors of light, mixed together, emanated from the pendant on her chest and were refracted by the crystal chandelier on the ceiling, like fireworks in the dark.

Breathtakingly beautiful, yet captivating to the soul!

If Bai Shuang were to witness such a spectacular sight under normal circumstances, she would surely clap her hands in amazement, exclaiming, "It's so beautiful!"

But at this moment, all I feel is fear!

If a jade pendant gives a warning, it means a natural disaster is about to strike!

Bai Shuang spent a long time with her mother at the hospital last night. When she got home to sleep, it was already 11 o'clock. She had only rested for an hour, and now she was wide awake.

She turned on the light, first using her phone to note the color of the beams of light, their order of appearance, and the duration of each beam, then picked up the jade pendant to examine it closely.

It seemed unchanged, still entirely green, with a small micro-carved "White" character in the lower left corner. If Bai Shuang hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would have thought it was just a dream.

The jade pendant is a family heirloom of the Bai family, an ancient family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, and it would never be used without a purpose.

Moreover, this is the first time the jade pendant has issued a warning in many years, which shows how serious the disaster is.

Bai Shuang analyzed the records one by one according to the Five Elements spectrum. As the successor of the Bai family patriarch, she understood metaphysics.

Blue light is associated with water and cold, and darker colors may indicate floods or extreme cold.

Red light – associated with fire and heat, and may indicate extreme heat.

Gray light—related to soil, suggesting geological disasters....

Her delicate eyebrows furrowed more and more; though she still looked childish, a seriousness appeared on her face that was beyond her years.

If two or more types of light are mixed together, several disasters may occur simultaneously...

It is clear that a series of disasters may be imminent.

Moreover, the disaster is about a month away from now, and its duration is quite long….

The Bai family is a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners with a history of over a thousand years, and Bai Shuang is the twenty-eighth generation head of the family.

Her maternal grandfather was the renowned physician Bai Yunqi, a leading figure in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.

Bai Shuang was chosen as the heir to the family head from a young age. She has an exceptionally high talent for medicine and has always received an elite education. She is not only proficient in the family's traditional Chinese medicine, but also has a high level of expertise in the Bai family's self-defense techniques and poisons.

Tangcheng is the capital city of Zou Province in northwestern China.

She is also a sophomore in the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine at Tangcheng Medical University this year.

Is the end of the world really coming?

The warning from the jade pendant is infallible, especially since this is the first time in many years that a jade pendant has issued such a warning, demonstrating the severity of the disaster!

Although Bai Shuang had never experienced the apocalypse, she had read many apocalyptic novels before. Although they were fictional works by the authors, they still had elements of the apocalypse.

She picked up her phone and checked the recent weather forecast. Domestically, the temperature was just higher than usual, making it muggy, but otherwise it was fine. However, disasters were frequently reported abroad.

I recalled my mother's repeated instructions: "If the jade pendant gives a warning, it must be activated by dripping blood within three hours; otherwise, it can only be activated again when it gives another warning."

Next time? Good heavens! What if we don't survive this natural disaster? Then everything will have been for nothing.

Thinking of this, Bai Shuang quickly picked up the razor blade, gritted her teeth, cut her finger, and dripped the blood onto the jade pendant.

The jade pendant emitted a dazzling white light and then disappeared, leaving a small red heart-shaped mark on her chest.

How did this jade pendant run away? Bai Shuang was worried. She closed her eyes and sensed it, and to her surprise, a new world suddenly appeared in her mind. Could this be the legendary space?

Concentrate intently, "go in," and you'll enter a fairyland:

The air was incredibly fresh and full of vitality. Taking a few deep breaths made me feel completely refreshed, as if every hair on my body was screaming with excitement.

Before me stands an old-style villa, facing east, with gray tiles and white walls, a tall gatehouse, and exquisite carvings on the walls. The plaque bears two characters written in a vigorous and elegant style: "Bai Residence".

Stepping out of the house, Bai Shuang looked up into the distance and suddenly saw a line of light and shadow text in the air: 01:41:15, and the seconds were constantly decreasing. Oh, she suddenly realized that this space had a time setting, so it seemed that she couldn't live there for long.

Stepping inside, the carvings inside become even more exquisite.

The room has electricity. In the middle is a living room with elegant tables and chairs. To the left is a kitchen, next to which is a bathroom. To the right are three bedrooms and a study, but the bookshelves are empty. Each bedroom only has a bed.

One side of the building is a warehouse, roughly the size of a large football field, while the other three sides are black soil, about three acres in size, with moderate moisture content, but no crops grow on it.

In the middle of the land is a clear spring, like a green eye, about ten meters in diameter. A sip of it is incredibly sweet, and fatigue disappears instantly. Could this be the legendary spring?

White clouds floated in the sky, the sun was nowhere to be seen, the temperature inside was pleasant, and a white mist surrounded the area, obscuring what was inside and making it impossible to enter.

Bai Shuang used her consciousness to "go out," and immediately reappeared in the bedroom.

She tried going in and out several times, and finally she was able to do it with ease and at will.

Thank our ancestors, thank God, now we don't have to worry about where to store our goods.

Bai Shuang was eager to know about the spatial function, so she quickly brought boiling water, divided it into four cups, and placed them on the ground, by the mist, in the house, and in the storeroom respectively. She also took out a small packet each of mint and mugwort seeds and scattered them on the ground.

Take out the box of medicinal cicadas (insect-based Chinese medicinal materials), take out four cicadas, put them in small boxes, and place them in different places.
