Bai Jiu: "Are we just going to let them leave like that?"
Bai Shuang: "Right now we're in the open, they're in the shadows. Before we figure out their situation, we shouldn't confront them rashly unless absolutely necessary."
This is not the beginning of the apocalypse. Some forces have already grown in size, and a head-on confrontation is not a wise choice.
If it's really a big gang, either don't take them down, or if you do, make sure they're completely finished.
Bai Chang: "These people are so brazen, don't the military and police do anything about it?"
Bai Shuang: "The military and police are also human beings. They are already short-handed, and after experiencing natural disasters or participating in rescue operations, even fewer survive."
Even though Lu Yu's army had the largest number of survivors in the country, it still lost tens of thousands of men, and Director Zheng's police force was reduced to only 30%.
Tangcheng still has about three million people, who live scattered across the city. Coupled with the system failure, it is even more difficult to manage.
However, underground criminal organizations are growing exponentially, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that they are flourishing everywhere, with crimes occurring all over the place.
Many public officials, even those who were not directly involved in the crime, died at the hands of these evil people.
These people are elusive; they only show their eyes from head to toe, and they carry guns. If they encounter military or police patrols, they can hide, change their clothes, and then reappear unrecognizable.
They secretly bribed people in various neighborhoods to act as informants, finding out the details of each building. They first recruited those who were capable, and killed those who couldn't be recruited, to prevent them from becoming obstacles to their looting, murder, and arson.
Bai Shuang happens to belong to this type of person.
After Bai Jiu and the others left, Bai Shuang called Lu Yu on the walkie-talkie to tell him about what happened at noon and to inquire about the Wolong Society.
Since you have such friends, use them when necessary. Why fight alone?
Lu Yu: "The Wolong Society is likely the largest underground gang in Tangcheng, and we are currently investigating it."
They're dangerous, have many henchmen, and are armed... You should stay at the military camp; don't get into contact with them.
"Okay, I understand. We'll be careful."
Of course we'll be careful, but there's no reason to live in the military camp every day and hide away. There's no such thing as being able to guard against thieves for a thousand days. If they keep pressing us, we'll have to confront them sooner or later.
Besides, did Uncle Liang and Ling Qingyao in the military camp really admit defeat and behave themselves?
June 5th was another day the border market was open. Bai Shuang planned to go out and take a look, and then go to the military camp to reward the hardworking officers and soldiers.
The situation is tense. Bai Shuang, her two companions, and their dog went out wearing stab-proof vests and bulletproof vests, and their guns and bullets were fully prepared.
When we got to the 9th floor, we saw that it was snowing again. It was colder than usual today. The wind felt like knives on our faces. The three of us and the dog changed into temperature-controlled hats and put on hand warmers, which made us feel a little better.
As soon as they left the building, Bai Shuang and the others sensed someone watching them from behind. When they turned around, the person had already hidden away. If they looked back now, he could easily run home and not come out again.
The three ignored him and continued walking forward.
Once outside the residential area, Bai Shuang gestured, "Snow Leopard, grab him."
Upon receiving the order, the snow leopard darted off in one direction like lightning, leaping up and tackling the man to the ground.
When Bai Shuang and the others walked over, the man was still under the clutches of the snow leopard. Bai Jiu stepped forward and tore off his mask. Bai Shuang thought the man looked familiar, but couldn't place his name. He was probably one of the new residents of Building C.
How many members of the Wolong Society are there in Building C?
"No comment. Kill me if you want."
If they dare to reveal even the slightest secret of the Wolong Gang, their entire family will suffer a terrible fate.
Bai Shuang fed him a single datura seed.
How do you usually keep in touch?
"Single-line contact. Someone will write the task down on paper and leave it in a fixed place... Today's task is simply to monitor your movements; that's all I know."
Seeing that she couldn't get any more information, Bai Shuang signaled that she could take action. Bai Chang reached out and killed him with a single blow.
Bai Jiu went up to search him, and almost pulled down his pants, but he didn't find anything distinctive. The only difference was that there was a blue stamp on his left arm, like the stamp on pork.
This is probably the identity symbol of the lowest level of the Wolong Society.
The three people and the dog continued walking forward, and in front of an empty building, they released the snowmobile and drove towards the trade market.
Today's market was much quieter than usual, probably because of the snow. The police presence was significantly increased, and the tense atmosphere could be felt from a distance.
The Wolong Society has gone mad. Do they want to seize all the territory and become local emperors?
The three men and the dog walked straight towards the fat man. "Sis, you're finally here! I've been waiting for you, otherwise we would have closed up shop."
There was no other way; he had to eat. Bai Shuang was his biggest seller, and he was counting on this deal to make some money.
As he spoke, the fat man hurriedly took out the jade he had collected in the past few days. When Bai Shuang opened it, she saw that it was less than half of what she had collected last time, probably because of the situation in the past few days.
After the transaction was completed, the fat man began to pack up his stall, not forgetting to remind Bai Shuang, "Sister, it's best not to come out these next few days. It's dangerous. The gang is going to cause trouble."
Bai Shuang asked curiously, "How did you know?"
"In the neighborhood next door, some people forcibly seized our protected grain yesterday, and several people were beaten to death. Sister, you'd better stay home for a few days."
"Thank you, I understand."
Although Bai Shuang didn't need these reminders, they still made her feel that there was still warmth in the world.
After the transaction was completed, when Bai Shuang and the others returned to the military camp, a large group of people made a big fuss. Since the battle was over, Lu Yu no longer needed to worry about others knowing his whereabouts.
When they arrived at the military camp, they were surprised to find that Director Zheng was also there... They headed towards the entrance of the border market, to the place where snowmobiles were stored. As they turned the corner and tried to open the car door, they all sensed something was wrong.
