Chapter 56 New Year's Day Dinner

Upon hearing the snow leopard barking in the water, Bai Shuang saw something darting around in the water. Bai Jiu took a closer look and said it looked like a loach, and Bai Chang thought so too.

Loach? As long as it's not a snake.

After resting for a while, the group continued working and collected almost all the remaining items in the warehouse.

Now we don't have to worry about greenhouses anymore, and we even have glass bottles for storing traditional Chinese medicine.

After finishing the collection, Bai Shuang and the others didn't rush back. Since they were already there, they decided to look around some more. They found another warehouse next to the glass factory and opened it.

Inside were glass glue, UV adhesive, glass adhesive, stainless steel bracket, and HY-303 glue.

Hot-dip galvanized steel, windowed aluminum profiles, and aluminum alloy chevron beams are the very framework for building greenhouses.

I never expected a glass manufacturing plant to produce these things. Is this some kind of vertically integrated factory?

Bai Shuang silently gave the manufacturer a thumbs up in her heart.

Greenhouses are essential for post-disaster recovery and production. Since we need to rebuild our hospital after the disaster, we naturally need greenhouses for medicinal herbs and vegetables and grains.

As for space, it can only be used as an auxiliary measure; a few dozen acres of land cannot support too many people.

Moreover, the space cannot be made public, nor can it be allowed to benefit without working for it.

Bai Shuang and the others collected everything they could use and decided to catch some loaches to take back. Adhering to the principle of not wasting anything, they scooped up several nets and caught about a thousand catties of loaches.

At lunchtime, Bai Shuang found a secluded spot, launched the yacht (which had a tap), and had everyone wash up and bring out small tables.

Bai Jiu suggested that today's meal consist of chicken rice, crucian carp and tofu soup, cold lettuce salad, stir-fried water bamboo shoots with shredded pork, and shiitake mushrooms and bok choy.

I gave the snow leopard a small bowl of dog food with chicken and a bowl of goat milk.

After finishing their meal, they packed up the cruise ship and switched back to the inflatable boats.

On their way back, the group thought of looking at the only patch of green in the post-apocalyptic world on the hillside behind the villa.

We were almost there, and from a distance we could see a vibrant scene on the hillside.

The boat reached the edge of the slope and they found a secluded spot to collect the loach. Bai Shuang took a bucket of loach, intending to give it to the soldiers to eat. They had eaten several meals here before.

Several people climbed up the dirt road, and the snow leopard suddenly leaped up. Bai Shuang quickly reminded him to be careful of the seedlings.

The soldiers were very diligent; they planted short-lived vegetables on all the newly exposed land.

Bai Jiu: "Wow, the potatoes are blooming!"

Several people quickly took out their phones to take pictures.

By now, small potatoes should have sprouted, so Bai Shuang squatted down, ready to dig one open and take a look.

Just then, a patrolling soldier approached from a distance. "Dr. Bai."

Bai Shuang and the others had been here several times and were quite familiar with each other.

The soldier saw Bai Shuang digging potatoes and, knowing she was curious, said excitedly.

"It's already as big as an apricot."

Bai Chang handed him the bucket of loaches, saying, "I just caught these. Clean them thoroughly, but don't eat the innards."

The soldier excitedly took the bucket. "Loach! We're in for a treat tonight!"

Bai Shuang carefully peeled back the roots of the potato seedlings and sure enough, she saw small potatoes, and they were quite plentiful.

Bai Jiu: "Is this little bit of soil tasty?"

The soldier quickly said, "You can't eat it now. Wait until you're older."

Bai Shuang was helpless; Bai Jiu was such a glutton!

Bai Shuang then walked over to the ordinary potato seedlings they had found elsewhere and pulled one aside.

Small potatoes have also grown, but they are smaller and fewer in number than the previous plant.

After covering the soil back up, Bai Shuang exclaimed, "The spring water is truly a wonderful thing."

Looking around, the soybeans, cabbages and other crops are growing very well, and the corn has already sprouted flowers.

After circling the hillside, everyone was very excited, even the snow leopard was jumping around.

If it weren't for the natural disaster and the impending extreme cold, Bai Shuang would honestly want to live here.

Unfortunately, humans are social animals, so it's better to fight together.

It was getting late, so the three people and the dog reluctantly left the hillside and set sail back.

The three of them took a shorter route, but the route was not safe.

As the assault boat passed through a relatively narrow stretch of water, several boats blocked its way. Bai Jiu steered the boat, while Bai Shuang and Bai Chang confronted the other side with their guns raised.

The snow leopard bared its teeth at the group of people.

"No ill intent. Here's a pound of grain, and you can move freely on this street."

Bai Chang: "What if you don't give it to me?"

"There are more checkpoints on this street than just ours."

Bai Chang: "How can you guarantee our safe passage?"

The man waved the colored marker in his hand. "Take this; the person in front will recognize it."

Bai Shuang gestured to Bai Chang and caught two loaches for him.

The man was a little surprised, "There's such a thing?" He then gave him a colored pole to let him pass.

A colorful pole is simply a bamboo stick with a strip of cloth tied to it.

At the end of the street, there were people waiting there to collect the colorful poles.

As the boat sailed down another street, the same thing happened again, and two more loaches were broken.

It's true that even if you have reason, you shouldn't pass through if you have no food.

They capitalized on this mentality that people wouldn't bother fighting them if they asked for little.

If you take too much, you'll run into a tough opponent and have to fight.

After entering the city, soldiers patrolled, and the security was much better, but the group still did not let their guard down.

Back in Building C, someone saw Bai Shuang and the others return and hurriedly helped them move the loaches.

"Everyone provided great information this time. Tomorrow is New Year's Day, and I'm treating you all to sauerkraut and loach hot pot!"

Everyone's eyes lit up. Really? "Thank you, Miss Bai."

They provided the information about the glass factory; they have a lot of people and give a lot of things, so it's better to treat them to a meal.
