Chapter 59 The Clues Have Gone Cold

In the morning, Bai Shuang and her two companions, wearing bulletproof vests, carrying guns and binoculars, disguised themselves as haggard ordinary people and quietly went downstairs.

It was still dark, and everyone else was still asleep. After exiting the third-floor window, the three boarded three separate inflatable boats and headed towards the large intersection Li Mingming had mentioned.

The three of them each stayed in a corner, each responsible for the movement in one direction, and communicated with each other via walkie-talkie.

When Bai Shuang heard Li Mingming say that their meetings were all in the morning, she guessed that, given Zhao Lin's cautious nature, the person who was supposed to take the call would definitely come early to observe.

Half an hour later, it was dawn, and more and more boats were passing through the road.

After observing for 3 hours, the target still hadn't been found.

Just as Bai Shuang was beginning to doubt whether Li Qingqing's words were true, a man driving a rubber boat caught her attention.

Unlike other passersby who simply drove forward, this man lingered near the intersection, stopping his boat every now and then to look around.

Bai Shuang also used the walkie-talkie to warn Bai Jiu and the others to be careful of this person.

It wasn't until the afternoon that the man stopped wandering and rowed the rubber boat in one direction.

Bai Shuang and the other two followed at a slightly longer distance. After walking for about three miles, the man stopped, as if waiting for something.

Soon after, another person came out of a building, looked around, and beckoned to the first person.

That person was neither Sun Zheng nor Zhao Lin.

Bai Shuang and the other two put away the assault boat, quietly entered the building, and followed.

The first person I heard said that they hadn't found it.

Then the two of them went in opposite directions.

Bai Shuang gestured for Bai Jiu and the other to follow the second person, while she approached the first person and pricked him with a needle. Before the person could react, he went limp and sat down in the stairwell.

Upon seeing Bai Shuang, the man's face was filled with fear. He knew he was in trouble, and he also sensed that something was amiss.

"Don't kill me, I don't know anything, I just want to earn some food."

Bai Shuang, seeing that he didn't seem to be lying, asked, "How do you know them?"

"I had no food left, so I rowed out to look for some. They approached me and asked me to deliver something to them. After I finished, they gave me two pounds of grain."

But the person wasn't found, and the items weren't delivered.

"What is that?"

"It was an envelope; I just returned it to that person."

Bai Shuang inserted a needle, and the person fainted. She then casually put the person into her spatial storage and went to chase after Bai Jiu and the others.

It's not fully clear yet, so this person can't be released for the time being.

The second person's rubber boat was motorized. It crossed a street and traveled for about 10 miles before finally stopping, folding up the boat, and entering a building.

The three of them put away their boat and followed. Bai Shuang suddenly sensed a murderous aura and hurriedly tried to stop Bai Jiu and the other two, but it was too late.

A bullet was fired, striking Bai Jiu in the chest. Bai Shuang and Bai Chang each fired a shot, blowing the two men's heads off. The two gunmen on the other side instantly fell to the ground, dead.

Bai Shuang: "Are you alright?"

Bai Jiu shook his head. "It's nothing."

Fortunately, they were wearing high-grade bulletproof vests; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

After taking the guns from the two men, the group gave chase. The room was empty, but through the window they saw that old bastard Sun Zheng and a bodyguard had escaped a long distance in a speedboat.

Bai Shuang took out her sniper rifle, aimed through the window, and fired two shots. The two men fell into the water.

Bai Jiu: "They're dead?"

Bai Shuang: "Even if you don't die, you'll be skinned alive!"

In this apocalyptic world, even if he survives, once he loses his usefulness, that old scoundrel will soon be finished.

Upon opening the door to a room, Bai Shuang gasped in shock. "What a menace!" she thought.

He waved and took it.

Upon opening another room, they found two naked women, and Bai Jiu and his companion immediately turned their heads away.

They looked timid when they saw Bai Shuang and the others come in.

He tossed two sets of clothes to them, saying, "Hurry up and put them on."

Tell me what you know. The two men shook their heads, got dressed, knelt down, and kowtowed to Bai Shuang.

"We were arrested and have been locked up here."

Bai Shuang and the others turned around and went to open the last room, which contained several thousand kilograms of rice, flour, and cooking oil. It seemed to be a long-term residence.

They kept a few hundred kilograms, and bought the rest.

The person who was released from the space was awakened by being pricked with a needle.

The man looked up blankly, saw Bai Shuang, and hurriedly said, "Please spare me, Bodhisattva, please spare me! I will never dare to help others do bad things again."

Bai Shuang: "The three of you can divide the food in the house."

"Thank you, Bodhisattva."

Bai Shuang didn't know how she had become a Bodhisattva; she just didn't want to kill innocent people indiscriminately.

The trail has gone cold, and it's getting late. We'll keep looking tomorrow. Bai Shuang will try to find Zhao Lin again tomorrow.

They launched the assault boat and headed back. This time, Bai Chang was in charge of the boat. Bai Jiu had just been shot, and although he was wearing a bulletproof vest, it would still hurt, so they let him rest for a while.

Bai Shuang held a gun as a precaution, but Bai Jiu still insisted on helping.

Along the way, we encountered several menacing threats, but thanks to the deterrent effect of gunfire, we managed to pass through unscathed.

However, a fight broke out not far from Yichen Tianfu.

Bai Shuang and her companions passed by a street corner. It was already evening. As the boat sped forward, they suddenly saw several horizontal lines blocking the road ahead.

If you're not careful, the rope could knock someone into the water.

By the time Bai Shuang saw it, the boat was already out of control and was hurtling straight ahead.

She quickly took out her Tang sword and slashed forward with the reverse blade facing down.

The Tang sword could cut through iron like mud, and wherever it passed, even ropes would be severed.

Enraged, the group raised their knives and slashed. Bai Shuang, who had no intention of fighting, fired a shot into the air, but the rubber boats still did not stop.
