Chapter 83 My Son Has Grown Up

Seeing that the test snow layer was fine, Bai Jiu jumped down first, but then he landed on the snow with a thud.

Bai Shuang and Bai Chang rushed down to help him, shaking the snow off her. Thankfully, it was a close call and he was alright.

Bai Chang laughed and teased him, "Are you alright, old man?"

Bai Jiu glared at him.

After a while, the group prepared to jump back through the window, but the snow leopard was still not satisfied. Suddenly, Bai Jiu had a brilliant idea.

"Miss, if you ride on the snow leopard's back, it might be able to carry you."

The snow leopard is one year and two months old. Because it eats meat at every meal and drinks spiritual spring water, it has grown to be very majestic, like a little calf, and very strong.

Bai Shuang weighs just over 100 jin (approximately 50 kg) and is 1.7 meters tall; she should be able to carry him.

Bai Shuang immediately became interested, called the snow leopard over, climbed onto its back, and said, "Snow leopard, try walking slowly."

She was worried that she would be too heavy to walk on, but the creature didn't seem to care about her weight at all. At first, it walked slowly, as if it was worried about jostling her.

Later, it ran faster and faster, covered in frost, like a fine steed galloping across the vast snowfield.

It wasn't all for nothing; my son has grown up and can carry me on his back.

Lu Yu arrived with two bodyguards on sleds and saw Bai Shuang riding on a snow leopard, running across the snow, looking majestic and heroic.

She only stopped when she felt really cold, and then jumped out the window and went back inside.

"It's snowing so heavily, why did you still come?"

Lu Yu: "We only have time when it snows."

He looked at the calf-like snow leopard, reached out and stroked it, "It was right for it to follow you in the first place."

After several days of training, the group had become somewhat accustomed to the low temperatures outside. Bai Shuang didn't seem to react as strongly as she had the first time she came out.

Back home, the group continued carving jade. Lu Yu, curious, put his two bodyguards upstairs and joined them. He was also very skillful and learned quickly.

Lu Yu envied their lifestyle and said to Bai Jiu and the other person, "How about we change our jobs?"

Bai Jiu asked curiously, "What career will you choose?"

"That's right, you'll be my generals, and I'll protect your young lady."

Bai Jiu rolled her eyes. "Who's going to switch jobs with you? Your job is tough, tiring, and stressful, and the pay is low."

Bai Chang laughed and said, "If you want to do this job, you'll have to quit your job first."

Lu Yu shook his head helplessly.

Resign? It wasn't that he coveted power and status; he was genuinely worried about his brothers. In this apocalyptic world, if they followed someone else, they might lose their lives.

Because so far, of all the armies he led out of the country, only his troops have survived in the best condition, with less than 10% of them lost, while the others, at best, have only left less than half of their men.

Today, Bai Shuang and her two colleagues have entered the fifth step in their work: polishing. This process not only makes the jadeite lustrous and smooth but also acts as a barrier.

The sixth step is to refine, carve, and add a signature.

After polishing and repairing some defects, the jade carver still needs to add his signature and inscription to the work.

Bai Jiu was very excited, glancing defiantly at Lu Yu, "Haha, my first masterpiece is born!"

Lu Yu pretended not to see it and didn't bother with him, continuing to carve the jade in his hand.

Bai Shuang took the work from Bai Jiu's hand and looked at it carefully. Sure enough, there was a micro-carving of "Master Bai Jiu" on the bottom. This kid is really flamboyant.

At this point, Bai Jiu's bracelet, Bai Chang's jade cabbage, and Bai Shuang's small bonsai were placed on the shelf. Although they couldn't compare to the works of experts, they were still quite presentable.

Today, Lu Yu came to visit, and the eight of us, plus Xue Bao, had another hot pot meal.

Life in the military is tough these days, and even though Lu Yu is a commander, his life isn't much better.

I learned from Lu Yu that all the agricultural experts in Tangcheng have started to study cold-resistant crops. With the scientists they rescued from Yangling joining them, I believe that scientific research results will be published soon.

Lu Yu and his group returned the next day. By then, his jade carving was finished, depicting a graceful young woman riding a majestic snow leopard.

The snow leopard saw me. Woof! How come it looks like me?

His craftsmanship actually surpassed that of Bai Shuang and the other two. Bai Jiu was very unconvinced, "Hmph, I will always carve something better than this."

Lu Yu didn't argue with him, and turned to Bai Shuang, saying, "I once gave you the snow leopard, so I'll take this one with me."

Bai Xue, ..., even after getting a jade carving, she still brings up old grievances with her.

When they left, Bai Shuang gave them some of each of the copied seeds to take with them and send them to the researchers for study.

In the following days, Bai Shuang and the other two spent their time practicing and carving jade. Their skills improved, and their works became better and better.

In Bai Jiu's words, he was already considered a minor master.

Bai Shuang used her free time to go up to the rooftop, collect the clean snow into her space, and use her consciousness to compress it into snow bricks, which were then stored in the Jing Shang warehouse.

These snow bricks can not only reduce the pressure on the roof, but they will also be very useful when it gets extremely hot, and can be used to melt water when there is a water shortage.

Ten days later, the blizzard finally subsided and the wind stopped blowing, but the snow outside had buried up to the eighth floor, and the outside temperature had dropped to around minus 50 degrees Celsius.

By this time, the three of them had finished crafting the raw stones that Bai Shuang had taken out, and their skills had become quite proficient.

Finally, she specially took out three small pieces of imperial green jadeite, and each of the three of them carved a lucky cloud pendant to wear with them.

Bai Jiu looked at it and his eyes widened. "Wow! Miss has this too! It's so beautiful! I'll have to carve it carefully now."
