Full of Fragrance (Part 3)
Blood shrouded the scene, dark clouds pressed down on the ground, and people surrounded Huaichuan in circles, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
He didn't know how long he had held the sword, or how many people he had killed.
All I remember is that he killed one person after another as they came, and one person after another fell at his feet.
The soldiers who had formed a circle parted, and a tall, imposing general stepped out from among them.
The general had a very dark complexion and a beard that hung down to his horse's back. He sat on his horse, looking down at Huaichuan with disdain: "So you are the invincible general Huaichuan?"
Huai Chuan planted his sword on the ground to support his body, and looked up at the newcomer with his face splattered with blood: "If you want to fight, then fight. What's with all the nonsense?"
The dark-faced general rode his horse around Huaichuan several times, seemingly unable to believe that such a young man had become a general and had even defeated his 130,000-strong army in several battles.
The man with the dark face said, "I heard you're a hopeless romantic, and you even rejected your princess."
Huai Chuan did not respond.
“I once had someone I loved but couldn’t have, so I know what that feels like, which is why I can let you go back.”
Huaichuan glanced at her with an extremely indifferent gaze. That fleeting glance contained too many complex and forever unspeakable emotions. In that instant, he truly considered returning alive, returning to see his A-Yun. He would bring her a rope ring with twenty-two complete crabapple blossoms; he would make oil-paper umbrellas with her in the courtyard; and they would grow old together, watching over the crabapple tree in the yard…
The dark-faced man continued, "But your emperor says he has already planted men at your sweetheart's place, and once he finds out you're going back, your sweetheart will be dead immediately."
A cold glint appeared in Huai Chuan's eyes.
"So you do have a choice."
Huai Chuan sneered, "On the battlefield, it's all about swords and guns. Why are you bringing up my woman?"
The dark-faced man truthfully said, "I despise your emperor." He then pointed out a clear path for Huaichuan: "From my personal perspective, I hope you can go back, and it would be best if you could actually raise an army in rebellion! Then we can fight a fair and square battle on the battlefield!"
"Stop talking nonsense, if you've got the guts, come on now."
The dark-faced general shook his head, seemingly regretting that Huaichuan had not adopted his advice.
He said, "You can't beat me!"
He then told everyone to step back, dismount, and go to the front of Huaichuan.
"Now that you're exhausted, I'll beat you with my left hand!"
Huai Chuan sneered, stood with his sword held horizontally, and took the lead in launching an attack in front of the black-faced man.
Blackface dodged, and after a few rounds, Huaichuan tilted his sword and aimed it straight at Blackface's neck. Blackface took a step back, and his beard, which was nearly an arm's length long, fluttered to the ground.
His dark face darkened, and filled with anger, he charged toward Huaichuan.
Sometimes, in a few leaps and bounds, the black-faced man would seize Huaichuan's opening, his broadsword swiftly reaching Huaichuan's front. Instead of dodging, Huaichuan would move closer, and the broadsword would pierce straight into Huaichuan's chest cavity, emerging from behind.
The dark-faced man suddenly burst into laughter: "You lost..." Before he could finish speaking, he felt his heart stop beating. Looking down, he saw that the long sword had already pierced his heart.
The two of them collapsed to the ground simultaneously.
As Huaichuan gradually lost consciousness, he only thought of the person in his heart: It's so good that I'm taking someone down with me when I die. I won't be alone on my journey anymore. I hope that Ayun will live a lively and exciting life in my absence.
Lively and bustling...
An had woken up and only these four words were on her mind.
She sat by the hospital bed and looked up.
The sheets and arms that I had just placed under my face were soaked.
It turns out he had a chance to come back.
He had the opportunity to live a wonderful life, but unfortunately, he died young.
Ji Qingzhou, wearing an oxygen mask, lay calmly in her hospital bed.
Fortunately, I was one step ahead of death.
An had been keeping vigil in the ward for two days and two nights, but she couldn't stay awake any longer and fell asleep.
I had that dream again.
She shook her head, got up, poured out the cold glass of water by the bedside, and filled a glass with hot water.
Turning his head, he saw that Ji Qingzhou had already opened her eyes.
An Yi grasped Ji Qingzhou's hand, stroking his cheek, her eyes welling up with tears that fell.
She kissed Ji Qingzhou on the forehead: "It's so good, so good, it's so good to have you by my side."
After Ji Qingzhou woke up, Ji Yang came to visit once, but Ji Qingzhou did not see him. Instead, she had her lawyer issue him a letter of understanding.
An has never interfered in Ji Qingzhou's family affairs, but she does have some reservations about this.
Ji Qingzhou still had to coax her.
Ji Qingzhou arranged the lunch that had been delivered one by one, then had An Yi sit down beside him and watched her eat before picking up his own chopsticks.
"Ji Yang is not a bad person by nature, and he never intended to really harm you."
An said in a muffled voice, "But he ruined you."
Even if this is an indirect cause, it is still a fact.
Ji Qingzhou sighed, "He's my brother, and I don't want him to have a hard time. Besides, Zheyun will eventually be handed over to him."
Besides, there's also the connection to my grandmother.
Grandma is getting old, and if she knew that the two brothers seemed to be fighting each other because of the company, she might not be able to handle it.
Ji Qingzhou didn't tell his grandmother he was hospitalized.
An already knew the reason, but she couldn't swallow her anger for Ji Qingzhou.
After lunch, Cod came to visit the patient, which eased An's depression a little.
She brought Han Fei with her.
Han Fei sat down, picked out an orange from the fruit basket he had brought, and tossed it to Ji Qingzhou: "Brother, didn't I see you crying in the bar a while ago? How did you end up in such a sorry state today?"
An was already suspicious.
Cod also caught a whiff of gossip and asked An Yi with shining eyes, "Wow, An An, your boyfriend even went to a bar and cried!"
An, unaware of the situation, turned and asked, "Really?"
Ji Qingzhou, with a long face, considered the possibility of getting up and beating up Han Fei. He really knew how to rub salt in the wound.
Ji Qingzhou said, "I forgot."
An Yi clearly didn't believe it, scrutinizing Ji Qingzhou.
She didn't pay much attention to Ji Qingzhou's feelings for a while, but she didn't do anything too bad or hurtful.
Unable to escape An Yi's gaze, Ji Qingzhou simply resorted to shamelessness: "I'm a patient."
An had relaxed and figured it wasn't a big deal, so she didn't press the matter further.
Cod persisted, "But the nurse just said the patient's memory is fine!"
Ji Qingzhou, acting like a rogue, grabbed An Yi's hand and whimpered, "My head hurts."
An had taken it seriously and told Ji Qingzhou to lie down quickly and stop talking.
Cod clicked its tongue and pulled Han Fei away.
Before even leaving the ward, she reminded Han Fei, "Look at him, he's still crying in a bar, unlike you who only goes to bars to find delinquent girls!"
"..."
"Not only did he date delinquent girls, but he also cheated on me."
Han Fei was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire.
An had seen the two people off and then returned to sit down.
A hand reached out from under the covers, touched her hand, and took it.
"An Yi," he called her name, a hint of fear in his eyes, "Do you like Huai Chuan or Ji Qingzhou?"
It's unclear why he asked that question.
He had already accepted that he was Huaichuan's stand-in, but An Yi said that he was Huaichuan. When he believed that he was Huaichuan because of An Yi, he could not suppress the greed that burst forth and wanted more.
An's eyes were smiling; she had just been imagining what Ji Qingzhou would look like crying in the bar.
"It's you, Ji Qingzhou."
Ji Qingzhou secretly breathed a sigh of relief and tightened her grip on An Yi's hand.
He said, "I am a PhD in physics, but my wish is the same as Premier Zhou's—for you, I hope there is an afterlife."
So even if you think I am Huaichuan, it doesn't matter. Just consider it as my wish from my previous life being fulfilled in this one.
During Ji Qingzhou's hospitalization, An Yi's novel also came to an end.
Many people are drawn to the story of Huaichuan and Ayun.
While reading the comments, An Yi saw a reader's message asking if An Yi had any recommendations for oil-paper umbrellas.
An then asked Ji Qingzhou if the cloud cover quality line had been restored.
Ji Qingzhou pulled himself out of the dense documents and replied, "It's been restored. The teachers we hired are all highly skilled at umbrella making. With them strictly overseeing the process, there are no problems."
He was bored at the hospital, so he asked An to bring his computer and his textbooks over.
He reads academic papers and writes academic papers, while An has been updating his novels, turning his place of rest and recovery into his office.
As a result, Cod never wanted to come back after that visit. She even pinched her nose and said, "The ward smells too strong. If I stay any longer, it will make me faint."
An was actually enjoying this time.
Ji Qingzhou was the same; he could see An Yi as soon as he looked up.
It felt like he had returned to the time when he first came back to China and stayed at An Yi's house, but there were many changes since then.
An has replied to the comment: You can check out Zhayun's oil-paper umbrellas. I was lucky enough to receive one, and the quality is good.
Sunlight streamed in through the window; the afternoon sun was gentle and warm, casting shadows on An Yi's face, revealing even the fine downy hairs on his skin.
An has been carefully and attentively reviewing and replying to the messages.
An replied to all the messages wishing Huaichuan and Ayun a happy life in another world: Yes, they will.
This is also one of the reasons why An has persisted in creating works.
When readers and authors resonate in some way, or even just in one aspect, readers find hope, passion, and strength in the author's writing. Even emotions hidden within the author's words, unknown to the author themselves, are unearthed by the reader, thus leading to a shared emotional resonance within the group. This is how creation, through words, achieves a connection of hearts and completes a romantic cycle.
“An Yi,” Ji Qingzhou suddenly called her name.
She looked up and saw Ji Qingzhou's composed expression.
"You," Ji Qingzhou hesitated, "would you be willing to go abroad with me?"
An nodded almost instantly, as if it had always been part of her plan: "Have you finally made up your mind?"
The half-open door in Ji Qingzhou's heart suddenly swung open, letting in a full and clear ray of sunlight.
"Yes, but I have another reason to study physics."
"What?"
"I want to go back to the past and see the memories you carry. I want to prove that I love you as much as Huaichuan does. I also want to see the A-Yun from the past."
