Hokkaido ramen
Activity class, high school students rely on this activity class to catch their breath every week.
The classroom was empty, with only a few top students still busy doing exercises.
Then why should I, a poor student, stay in the classroom?
There is only one answer.
I pressed my face against the cold table, covered my stomach and groaned, feeling waves of pain in my lower abdomen.
Dysmenorrhea is not a disease, but it is really painful when it happens.
"Why are you pretending to be dead?" He was suddenly hit on the head.
I looked up with a grin, and Lu Xingye's annoying face was right in front of me.
"Lu Xingye, I'm an injured patient!" I protested, rubbing the spot where I was hit. "Can't you show some humanitarian concern?"
He pulled out the chair at the table in front of me and sat down with his usual teasing tone, "Lin Nian, why are you still like when you were little, whining at the slightest pain? Just bear with it and it will pass."
I rolled my eyes at him unhappily, buried my face in my arms again, and said in a muffled voice, "...Pour me a cup of hot water."
"There are so many things to do." He said with disdain, but his hand had already picked up my water cup.
I heard him unscrew the lid of the cup, and then the sound of "gulp gulp" of water pouring out.
"Here" he put the cup of water in front of me.
I slowly propped myself up and took sips of hot water, which slightly relieved the coldness in my abdomen.
The water temperature is just right, not too hot or too cold.
"Why didn't you go play ball?" I asked casually.
Lu Xingye is on the school basketball team, and he usually sweats profusely on the court during weekly activity classes.
"The captain had something urgent to do, so the training was cancelled." Lu Xingye sat down on the chair in front of me and answered straightforwardly.
Cancelled?
I raised an eyebrow.
It's strange. I just saw the little boy sitting on my left running out with a basketball as soon as the get out of class was over, and he hasn't come back yet.
He glanced at Lu Xingye and saw that he looked normal, so he didn't think about it anymore.
I looked at the clock on the wall and it was already half past four.
The biology competition team that Jiang Yuanzhou and Lulu participated in should be coming to an end soon.
"you say......"
I was about to speak when I suddenly remembered the last time in the studio when he tore up the painting and kicked the easel, and I swallowed the words back.
"Isn't it about time that Jiang Yuanzhou and Lulu are back?"
Unexpectedly, he was the first to bring it up, and his tone was calm, "Where are we going to have dinner later?"
I choked and coughed a few times.
He reached out and patted my back to help me calm down. "You can't even drink water?"
I took a deep breath feeling guilty and avoided his gaze.
"I heard there's a new ramen restaurant opened in Zhengrong. It looks delicious."
"Just go if you want to." Lu Xingye shrugged indifferently.
————
"Niannian, teacher Jiang Yuanzhou and I are still discussing the questions. It won't be finished for a while. Don't wait for us to eat." Lulu's voice came from the other end of the phone.
Lu Xingye and I looked at each other, and we both saw the "helplessness of a poor student" in each other's eyes.
The top students are the top students. Their world is incomprehensible to us two poor students.
"What should we do? Go back to our own homes?"
I looked out the window. The sky was gloomy and covered with dark clouds. It seemed like it was going to rain at any moment.
"Don't you want to eat ramen?" Lu Xingye threw his schoolbag over his shoulder and looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Do you want to go?"
"Let's go." I curled my lips and followed his footsteps.
However, we still didn't get to eat ramen that day...
We sat in the KFC opposite the newly opened "Hokkaido Ramen" and looked at the crowds of people in the store opposite.
During this period of time, it is difficult to get a seat in any restaurant, let alone a popular restaurant that has just opened.
I ate the French fries without any taste, still thinking about the ramen from that restaurant.
I turned my gaze to Lu Xingye, who was concentrating on chewing a burger across from me. He seemed to notice my gaze, raised his eyelids and glanced at me, and asked vaguely, "What are you looking at?"
I wrinkled my nose in disgust. "The way you eat your burger is really...unpresentable."
He glared at me, and without saying a word, stretched out his long arm, accurately snatched the only spicy chicken wing on my plate, and stuffed it into his mouth.
Then he raised his chin triumphantly, "A small punishment is a big warning."
————
As I expected, when we finished eating and were about to leave, a light raindrop had already started falling outside the window.
"Do you have an umbrella?" I asked with a hopeful thought.
Lu Xingye spread his hands with an expression that said, "How could I possibly have that kind of thing?"
"Let's find a place to stay for a while and leave when the rain stops."
As he spoke, he naturally put his arm around my shoulders and led me into the mall.
I hadn't walked a few steps when my cell phone rang.
The name "Jiang Yuanzhou" was jumping on the screen.
The hand on the shoulder seemed to pause for a moment, then loosened.
"It's raining. Do you want me to pick you up?"
There was a familiar voice on the other end of the line, and it was reassuring to hear.
"Are you done? That's great! Lu Xingye and I didn't bring an umbrella!" I immediately gave the address.
After hanging up the phone, I turned around and saw Lu Xingye standing in front of the glass curtain wall with his back to me, quietly looking at the rain outside the window.
I leaned over and pushed his arm, "Yuanzhou said he would come and pick us up later."
He nodded without looking back or saying anything.
Rainy nights always seem to amplify certain emotions. On such rainy nights, people's emotions seem to become more sensitive.
I stood beside him. Although we were very close, I inexplicably felt that the air around him was a little stagnant and slightly cool.
"Lin Nian," he suddenly said, his voice a little vague in the sound of rain, "I remember you were a tearful child when you were little."
I was stunned for a moment, then found it funny and couldn't help but retort, "What?! That's because you always bully me!"
Lu Xingye didn't seem to listen to what I said. He just stood there quietly until he saw the familiar figure appear in the distance.
I waved happily, "Jiang Yuanzhou, we are here!"
Lu Xingye suddenly turned around and looked at me, the reflection of the rain curtain flickering in his eyes. He said in a low voice, "But I hope you can always be happy..."
Before I could digest the meaning of this sentence, he turned around and rushed into the drizzling rain.
He ran towards Jiang Yuanzhou and waved at him with a smile, "Jiang Yuanzhou! I've entrusted Nian Nian's safety to you! I'm leaving first!"
"?? Hoshino! Eh? I have an umbrella here! Hey!"
Jiang Yuanzhou shouted, but Lu Xingye had already run away.
"This guy has an umbrella but doesn't use it. Why is he running?"
Jiang Yuanzhou ran to my side and looked suspiciously at the direction where he disappeared, with a few strands of hair on his forehead wet by the rain.
I shook my head, feeling an inexplicable sense of stagnation in my heart. I just reached out and grabbed Jiang Yuanzhou's arm, "Don't worry about him, let's go."
The raindrops hit the umbrella, like an unfinished whisper, dissipating in the humid air.

The next day at noon
"I don't know where Lu Xingye has gone again, and he hasn't replied to any messages."
Jiang Yuanzhou looked at his phone and rubbed his forehead with a headache.
"Let's not wait for him! I'm so hungry, let's go to the cafeteria first!" Lulu took my arm and ran to the cafeteria in a hurry.
After lunch, I returned to the classroom and found a bowl of steaming ramen on the table.
I looked at it suspiciously and saw that the bag of ramen had the "Hokkaido Ramen" logo printed on it.
Suddenly I remembered Lu Xingye’s back as he rushed into the rain last night. Something flashed through my mind, but I chose to ignore it and didn’t want to think about it too much.
"Lu Xingye is such a reserved and reserved guy," I said with a sigh.
Even though I was very full from lunch, I still took a big bite with my chopsticks.
The noodles were chewy and the soup was rich, just as delicious as I imagined.
But as I ate more, I felt that the taste of the ramen became stranger and stranger, sour and astringent, and I could no longer swallow it.
The remaining large bowl of ramen ended up in the trash.
It's really disgusting... I won't eat his ramen anymore...
