Chapter 167 The Origin of the Black Dragon Society

The next day, Chen Fan woke up early, washed up, styled his hair, put on a handsome suit, and then took a few street urchins, including Yaksha, Qinggui, and Henchmen, and headed for the Black Dragon Society. As he walked, Chen Fan's mind flashed back to the origins of the Black Dragon Society.

The earliest gangsters in Japan in the 17th century came from the 500,000 unemployed samurai created after the Chuando family unified all of Japan. Some of these people changed their careers to find other livelihoods, and some lived on the streets and became ronin who traveled around the world. Gangs gradually emerged from these people. They monopolized the industries they operated by force and maintained the form of organization with close internal relationships, forming the gang organizations of Japan.

During the Chuandoku shogunate, in 1686, the Japanese government launched a major crackdown on the largest unemployed samurai organization at the time - the Zenshinkai.

The economic development of unified Japan created a large number of bankrupt farmers. These farmers found work as construction workers in cities, forming gangs with low-ranking police officers and performing sumo wrestlers. Seeking more lucrative careers, criminals and lower-class civilians gradually joined, bolstering their forces. These people became known as "xiamin."

A large number of "enslaved people" are divided into gangs such as "vendors' gangs" and "gamblers' gangs". The vendors' gangs are mainly composed of people who can make money and do business, while the gamblers' gangs survive by organizing the gambling industry.

These early Japanese gangs had traditional gang forms, strict gang rules, and distinct distinctions between seniority and inferiority, giving people the impression that "even thieves have their own code of conduct."

19th-century Japanese society underwent tremendous changes: capitalist economic forms collided with feudal forms of rule. The Meiji Restoration brought joy to some and sorrow to others. Amidst the ongoing social, political, and economic turmoil, some who suffered losses, seeing legal economic means failing to achieve their goals, began to seek alternatives. This led to the emergence of modern Japanese gangs, comprised of lower-ranking samurai, bankrupt farmers, and local thugs.

First there was the "Genyosha" headed by the samurai Toyama Mitsuru, and later there was the "Black Dragon Society" (named after the Black Dragon Province of Daxia) headed by Uchida Ryohei. They were more systematic than the earlier gangs in terms of organizational programs and other aspects.

The Genyosha is particularly known for its espionage activities and has a very bad reputation in Japan. The governments of Great China and Russia have protested to the Japanese government about the Genyosha's activities abroad and declared that the members of the Genyosha are "undesirable" in the country.

The Black Dragon Society was established in January 1901 to continue the legacy of the Genyosha after the latter fell from prominence. Toyama Mitsuru entrusted the leadership of the Black Dragon Society to the 26-year-old Ryohei Uchida, who was already gaining fame.

Born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1874, Uchida Ryohei came from a samurai family. His uncle was Hiraoka Kotaro, president of the Genyosha. Influenced by his family, Uchida developed a love of martial arts from a young age, often associating with ronin. From a young age, he was already involved in various Genyosha conspiracies both domestically and internationally.

In January 1901, Uchida Ryohei gathered dozens of Genyosha core members at his home in Tokyo to discuss the immediate establishment of the "Black Dragon Society," whose mission was to support Japan's war against Russia and its invasion of China. In February of the same year, the Black Dragon Society was officially established in Dongjing. Its founding declaration declared: "The most urgent task at present is to fight the Russian bear, repel it, and unite Manchuria, Mongols, and Siberia, thereby laying the foundation for continental control."

Their common goal was to occupy the three provinces of Daxia and Dong. To this end, the Black Dragon Society once cooperated with Sun Dapao and others. With the mediation of the Black Dragon Society, Sun Dapao jointly established the Daxia Tongmeng Society at the Black Dragon Society headquarters in Dongjing.

At that time, members of the Black Dragon Society were extremely active in Dongshan Province, oppressing local residents like pigs and dogs. As pioneer spies of Japan's invasion of Xia, they killed countless compatriots of Daxia in Dongshan Province.

Later, the Black Dragon Society had been banned, but a few decades ago, it was revived with the help of some mysterious forces. In just over a decade, its chairman Inukai Heisai developed the Black Dragon Society into a huge gang of the same size as the Yamaguchi-gumi.

He tore a large piece of meat from the Yamaguchi-gumi's mouth, and was involved in pornography, gambling, drugs, and the Black Dragon Society.

Soon, the news that Chen Fan was taking Yaksha and others to the Black Dragon Society also reached the Black Dragon Society.

At this time, the Black Dragon Society's president, Inukai Heisai, and several senior leaders were sitting upright.

"President, don't worry. Didn't Chen Bufan go to the Yamaguchi-gumi yesterday, but he just showed off his eloquence and left in disgrace? We'll just do the same as the Yamaguchi-gumi and just deal with Chen Bufan once he arrives."

"Yes, President, no matter how powerful the Kunsa Group is, it is still in the Black Triangle. Now they have come to our territory. Can Chen Bufan still turn the tables?"

Hearing what everyone said, the Black Dragon Society's president had a worried look on his face. "Am I worried about Chen Bufan? I'm worried about my fuqin and xylophone."

Communicating with a sixth-grade kid like Chen Bufan. He accidentally lost both his father and mother.

Soon, Chen Bufan arrived with the Yaksha, Green Ghost and his minions.

"Mr. Chen! Welcome to the Great Country of Japan!"

Inukai Heisai forced a smile on his face, but he stood at the door with no intention of inviting Chen Fan and others in. Chen Fan stretched out his hand and shook hands with Inukai Heisai. While shaking hands with Inukai Heisai, he looked inside.

"Mr. Inukai, this Black Dragon Society headquarters is quite extraordinary. I've really broadened my horizons!"

"Ha, nothing, right?"

"Mr. Inukai, won't you let me in to take a look?"

"Ahaha...hahaha, sorry, Mr. Chen, the Black Dragon Society's headquarters is currently under renovation and it's inconvenient to enter."

"Really? But I didn't see any decorators."

Inukai Heisai: “………”

"I've always heard that the Japanese are hospitable... I believe Mr. Inukai Heisai wouldn't turn away a guest, right?"

Inukai Heisai: “………”

Looking at Chen Fan's smiling face, Inukai Heisai wanted to punch him, but he was helpless.

He stepped aside.

"Chen-san, please!"

Entering the Black Dragon Society's headquarters, Chen Fan looked around and said, "Mr. Inukai Heisai, didn't you say that the Black Dragon Society's headquarters is under renovation? Where are the workers?"

Inukai Heisai: "Ahem, the renovation workers have gone home to rest. Mr. Chen, let's not bother with these people. Please come in!"

"What's wrong? Could it be that Mr. Inukai Heisai, like Mr. Kobayashi from the Yamaguchi-gumi, knew I was coming and prepared an exquisite banquet inside?"

Inukai Heisai: ".......ahem, this............"

"What? You also prepared the most beautiful oiran in Japan?"

Chen Fan was shocked.
