Chapter 3 Hospital Examination and Cat Health Management

Chapter 3 Hospital Examination and Cat Health Management

Shi Wan walked along the unclear dirt path and finally chose a relatively flat and wide place.

It feels quite big; it should be able to hold all the cats.

Seeing that she had stopped, Tangyuan walked over and stepped on the ground from both sides, asking, "Is this it?"

Shi Wan found a large rock and sat down. "This is fine. Tangyuan, could you please call all your people over?"

Tangyuan meowed and darted away like a white lightning bolt.

Shi Wan wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she always felt that the climate on the farm was very comfortable, not particularly hot, and very suitable for cats to live in.

Cats are known to be very sensitive to heat.

She could even feel the cool breeze.

Shi Wan took out her phone, which was buzzing twice in her pocket, and saw an unpleasant message displayed on the lock screen.

"Shi Wan, please organize these two contracts and send them to me as soon as possible. I need them now."

—Director Li.

Shi Wan gripped her phone, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.

Nobody likes being dragged into working overtime by their boss on their day off.

No! Nobody!

She was truly fed up with this boss who always made her work during her rest time.

Even when Shi Wan had a fever and was on an IV drip, this person called her and told her to make do and give her two hours to finish.

In the past, people had to bend their backs to earn a living, otherwise they wouldn't survive.

That may not be the case now.

Shi Wan smiled and typed rapidly, "Sorry, Director Li, I'm busy right now. Please organize it yourself."

Done, sent.

Wuhu~

It felt as refreshing as drinking iced soda on a sweltering summer day.

Shi Wan stared at the message "typing in progress" and a murderous glint flashed in her eyes.

really--

"You can find the time if you squeeze it in, Shi Wan. You need to understand the importance of this work. Stop making me remind you. I need to see results within thirty minutes."

Many words that needed to be censored flashed through Shi Wan's mind in an instant.

She typed through gritted teeth, "I really can't do it~ Please bear with it for now~" and then clicked send, turned on silent and do not disturb mode, and put it back in her pocket.

Completed in one go.

Shi Wan silently comforted herself, telling herself not to get angry, that getting angry was bad for her breasts, bad for her health, and bad for her body.

She took a few deep breaths before she felt herself calm down.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw that the flat ground in front of me was full of curious cats.

Each one was large and beautiful, staring at her with wide, curious cat eyes.

Shi Wan was no longer angry.

"Ahem," she cleared her throat and gently picked up the pick-up. "My darlings, my name is Shi Wan, and I'm currently the surrogate human for our farm. I'm going to start entering your information now, so please don't be afraid, okay?"

She looked around, gazing at each cat with gentle eyes.

Some of the cats tilted their heads as if they were trying to understand her, some were busy grooming themselves and didn't seem to care much, and others meowed softly, looking at her with bright eyes, looking very affectionate.

Shi Wan didn't see anything unusual, so she opened the system, found the employee data entry interface, and prepared to register the children's household registrations.

The interface opened with a scanning-like design, and Shi Wan first aimed it at the glutinous rice ball.

Tangyuan sat obediently in front of her, and two seconds later the system displayed that the entry was successful—Shi Tangyuan, the chief of the Meow Meow Mimi Clan, a close relative of the Lion Cat.

It also shows some of Tangyuan's cat physical characteristics and health status.

Shi Wan checked the system with surprise and satisfaction, and then, with Tang Yuan's help, entered all forty-three cats on the farm into the system.

Of these 43, 7 are ordinary cats, and the remaining 36 are members of the Meow Meow Clan.

However, the health of all the cats is not very good. Some have minor problems such as ear mites, and some have hairballs and urgently need hairball remedy to treat and expel hair.

There was only one that needed immediate attention; it was a tabby cat-like creature that looked young and listless.

He scratched his ears and body frequently, looking restless.

Shi Wan picked up the kitten with ringworm from the group of cats and placed it next to her. She didn't have an Elizabethan collar, so she had to be extra careful to prevent it from scratching her.

The kitten looked a little aggrieved and whimpered as it lay down next to Shi Wan.

Shi Wan thought it best to take care of business first, so she had Tangyuan distribute the seeds and farm tools to the waiting cats.

"I've checked, and these seeds mature quickly and have a high compatibility. How about we plant these seeds first, kitties?"

"These are farm tools. Everyone can try them out and find the ones that suit them best. Don't worry if you haven't received any yet; we'll distribute them to you later."

The cats gathered around and picked up the seeds first, before choosing farming tools.

The system didn't provide many, and they were all selected very quickly.

The cats are very simple-minded; they weren't in a hurry even if they didn't get their share, and they waited for Shi Wan to speak while carrying their seed packets.

Shi Wan was inexplicably amused by the scene, and then found herself a little funny, so she waved her hand and said, "Go ahead and get busy now that you've made your choice."

The cats had all left, and Shi Wan picked up the little cat that was whimpering beside her. "Tangyuan, where do the cats sleep tonight?"

Tangyuan took her to see the cats' little dormitory, which wasn't too far from Shiwan's wooden house. There were two identical wooden houses there. When they went inside, there was no furniture, and the floor was covered with all sorts of dilapidated cat beds.

"The cats picked these up outside." Tangyuan found her own, crawled inside, stomped around a couple of times, and then lay down peacefully.

Shi Wan looked at the tattered and somewhat dirty cat beds and felt a pang of sadness.

She squatted down, wanting to touch the glutinous rice balls, but then held back. "Hold on a little longer, your sister will get you all new little homes."

Tangyuan's eyes lit up. "Really?! The old clan chief has such a big and soft nest. I want one just like it."

"Buy it!" Shi Wan waved her hand domineeringly.

Tangyuan happily stood up and spun around in place. As she spun, she saw her big tail and excitedly pounced on it twice.

“But DouDou can’t stay here for a while,” Shi Wan said, holding the kitten’s paw that was itching to scratch. “His skin condition is somewhat contagious, so I’ll find a cage to isolate him.”

DouDou was held by its limbs and couldn't move. It meowed once but didn't react much.

Tangyuan used to be taken to the vet for vaccinations and treatments quite often, so he was fairly familiar with the process. Most importantly, he wasn't sick, so the cat seemed much more peaceful.

"He was disobedient and secretly ran out to rummage through the trash cans," Tangyuan complained.

DouDou let out a weak meow.

Shi Wan then realized how the cat got ringworm.

She couldn't help but tap DouDou's forehead, "Don't rummage through the trash can next time, it's so dirty."

"I understand, meow." Only then did DouDou realize why she was feeling so bad.

Shi Wan added a few more instructions, "Never mind, you take them to my little house tonight to stay. I'll come over tomorrow to clean up this place, otherwise it'll be terrible if any of the babies get infected."

Tangyuan, her fur standing on end, jumped out of her cat bed, looking terrified. "Meow??!!"

Shi Wan understood what he meant and quickly comforted him, "You haven't been infected, you're fine."

Tangyuan gradually calmed down.

Shi Wan added, "Currently, only Dou Dou has ringworm, the rest of the kittens are fine, I'm just worried."

Tangyuan seemed to understand, but stood cautiously beside Shi Wan, resolutely refusing to go into the cat's bed.

Shi Wan didn't dare touch him, afraid of catching something. After giving him repeated instructions, she carried Dou Dou and left the farm.

When I returned the way I came, I found that the small sign pointing the way had disappeared.

When Shi Wan stood by the roadside and looked into the forest, all she saw was a dense thicket of trees, nothing else.

She felt relieved and carried DouDou back the way she came.

Fortunately, the shared electric bike she had ridden hadn't been taken yet, so she rode it to the pet hospital near her neighborhood.

It's 4 PM now, and there aren't many people at the pet hospital. The big golden retriever at the entrance is pacing back and forth in its cage when it sees people coming, wanting someone to play with it.

Shi Wan said "Hello, little dog" to it, and then quickly went to the front desk to register Dou Dou.

The receptionist was a young woman. She didn't show much expression when she saw Shi Wan, but her face immediately lit up with heartache when she saw Dou Dou.

"What's wrong with my little one?" she asked worriedly as she stood up.

Shi Wan had the child sit on the table, saying, "He has a bit of ringworm, I brought him over to see how to treat it."

The receptionist put on gloves and checked his ears and body. "Yes, there are some scabs. Let me register him first."

She took off her gloves and started typing on the computer, "What's the child's name?"

"Dou Dou, the 'Dou' in soybean, is my younger brother. He is two and a half years old this year."

When Shi Wan entered the information, the system showed her all of this information, including her age, which was converted to the age of an ordinary kitten, so that Shi Wan wouldn't scare others if she said it in this situation.

But she felt that she had probably scared relatively few people; more people probably thought she was talking nonsense.

After registering, the young lady took Shi Wan to the clinic.

The young doctor was sitting in the consultation room, sending a voice message: "She seems to be in good spirits from the video. She can take the medicine I prescribed first. If you're worried, you can bring her over now. I'll close a little later tonight."

Upon seeing someone enter, he put down his phone after sending the voice message, disinfected the triage station, put on gloves, and then laid out a disposable examination mat.

"Put it up here, what's wrong with the child?"

"It has a bit of ringworm," the nurse replied. "The specific registration details have already been recorded and can be viewed on the system."

"Okay, I understand." After saying that, the doctor began to examine Dou Dou, and the young woman returned to her work station.

The doctor frowned as he handled DouDou. DouDou was very obedient as he turned over its fur, and it didn't even bark.

"It has a bit of ringworm and ear mites, but it's not too serious." The vet examined it carefully. "We'll take its weight and temperature later. Would you like us to do a discharge test to see if there are any other illnesses?"

Shi Wan recalled the system's diagnosis. Although she felt it was unlikely to be wrong, she agreed to get tested just to be on the safe side.

DouDou was like a wonderful cat, patiently going through a series of checkups without fuss. Her good temper even impressed the vet, who exclaimed, "Your cat is really good; it doesn't scratch or bite."

He had many scratches on his hands, some fresh and some scabbed over, clearly indicating he was a veteran of many battles.

Shi Wan smiled and said, "Dou Dou has a very good temper."

While waiting for the test results, Shi Wan asked, "Do you have Elizabethan collars? I'd like to buy one later."

The doctor was very generous. "Yes, I'll give one to your little one. It's rare that you didn't get caught, I'm in a good mood."

Shi Wan didn't refuse, "Okay, then I'll buy a cat carrier."

The doctor pointed outside the door, "There's a small room on the right-hand side when you come in. It's full of pet supplies. I'll give you a discount."

The nurse then brought over the test results. "Here's the report. It's nothing serious, just ringworm."

The doctor was relieved. "Although it's just ringworm, it's always good to be safe. Kittens are different from us; they're too small and fragile. Even a small illness can be fatal for them."

Shi Wan felt the same way, so she nodded in agreement, "That's right, a test only costs a little over a hundred yuan, I'll feel more at ease if I get it done."

The vet prescribed a medicated bath and some oral medication. "Its condition isn't too serious, so we won't give it injections. Go back and buy some fish oil and vitamin B, mix them into its food, and it will recover faster."

Shi Wan carefully inquired about the usage of the pills and ointment, added the doctor on WeChat, and finally chose a cat carrier before paying.

When I took out my phone, I found that the lock screen was full of missed calls and messages.

"Calling Shi Xiaowan! Calling Shi Xiaowan!!"
