"It's spicy, it's spicy!"
Xiao Qi was so annoyed by Baili Wanwan's question that he wished he could disappear into the ground.
Actually, I didn't know why I blushed, so I just attributed it all to the chili peppers.
Unexpectedly, Baili Wanwan laughed even harder after hearing this:
"Wanwan isn't afraid of spicy food!"
After saying that, she took a bite of the dried fish with a smug look on her face and squinted her eyes happily.
The family laughed and joked, and the meal was quite enjoyable.
Xiao Qi felt a long-lost warmth, and his heart was filled with mixed emotions.
The moon hung high, casting a faint, cool glow that stretched his lonely shadow long and thin.
This also caused his heart to gradually sink.
Perhaps thinking of something, he put his hands behind his back, and a desolate killing intent suddenly emanated from him, incongruous with his age. In the instant his lowered eyes turned fierce, a small shadow suddenly entered his line of sight.
Then appeared a pair of bright, sparkling eyes and a radiant smile.
The baby hasn't fully grown up yet, her little face is chubby, but looking at her adorable appearance, it's easy to tell that she's destined to be a beauty.
Xiao Qi was startled and took a step back.
Then came the little girl's carefree laughter: "Grandpa said there's a night market, do you want to go?"
This seaside village has a unique custom: while other places have markets early in the morning, here there are markets every evening for several months.
Each household would set up their goods on the roadside outside the village, and by the moonlight, the market was officially open. Anyone with a need could browse around and would most likely find something good.
Baili Wanwan loves lively places, so she naturally wouldn't miss such a market.
But since we had guests at home today, she didn't want to go out alone, so she came to ask.
"I……"
Xiao Qi was taken aback by the sudden invitation and dared not accept it.
“He’s going to teach his grandfather, so of course he won’t go.”
Wan Yuekui appeared out of nowhere, looking at Xiao Qi warily.
I quickly refused him, as if afraid he would actually go.
Baili Wanwan, oblivious to the subtle hostility between the men, tilted her head as if she understood and asked, "Really?"
"I'll go."
Xiao Qi suddenly said this, then raised an eyebrow and looked at Wan Yuekui.
She was clearly four years younger than him. Not only was she shorter, but her entire frame was much smaller. Yet, her aura was by no means weak.
Wan Yuekui was angered by his gaze and wanted to raise his fist, but was suddenly stopped by Wan Yuechi.
"Since Young Master Xiao wishes to go, then let's go together."
Wan Yuechi said with a half-smile.
He had noticed Xiao Qi's strange attitude towards Baili Wanwan earlier. So now he had formed an alliance with Wan Yuekui to fight against Xiao Qi together.
They were afraid he would abduct their daughter.
However, Xiao Qi was an honored guest after all, and unlike Wan Yuekui, he was not brainless, so he did not make things difficult for Xiao Qi at home.
But when they arrived at the market, Xiao Qi realized something was wrong.
Originally, I thought it would just be a market in a small village, since there were only a few scattered stalls.
However, to my surprise, when I arrived at the place, I found it to be surprisingly lively with people coming and going!
"Today is the birthday of a deity, so it's especially lively. Young Master Xiao, you'd better stay close and not get separated from us."
After Wan Yuechi finished speaking, he chuckled and winked at Wan Yuekui.
Xiao Qi watched their interaction and immediately felt something was wrong.
Sure enough, in less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, he and his guards got separated from the two boys from the Wan family!
Fortunately, Wanwan was being led by Wan Yuekui.
Xiao Qi read this sentence aloud, startling the guard.
He hadn't expected that Xiao Qi's first thought in this situation would be the safety of the female lead.
"Young Master, shall we go back to the Wan family first?"
The guard asked cautiously, but Xiao Qi directly rejected the question.
"If Wanwan comes back and can't find me, she'll probably cry. Let's stay here and wait."
"this……"
The guard thought that Baili Wanwan, a toddler, would be so engrossed in the market that she probably wouldn't even realize they were lost.
Not to mention coming back to look for it.
But seeing Xiao Qi's determined gaze, she ultimately didn't finish her sentence.
Meanwhile, after a commotion, Baili Wanwan immediately noticed that someone was missing from behind.
She tugged anxiously at Wan Yuekui's sleeve: "Brother, little brother is gone!"
Baili Wanwan pointed worriedly to the pedestrians behind her.
After hearing this, Wan Yuechi squatted down and smiled like a fox: "Wanwan, don't worry. Young Master Xiao has guards by his side. Even if he gets separated from us, he can still return to the Wan family on his own."
Wan Yuekui chimed in, "Wanwan, would you like some roasted sweet potato? Want some...?"
I originally wanted to distract Baili Wanwan with food.
Unexpectedly, Baili Wanwan frowned seriously, staring intently at her two older brothers with an unusually serious expression: "Brothers, do you not like your older brother?"
Although Baili Wanwan is naive and inexperienced, she is very clever.
As soon as he finished speaking, Wan Yuekui and Wan Yuechi's expressions changed.
The two wanted to deny it, but when they looked down and saw Baili Wanwan's mature expression, they couldn't bear to lie to her.
I could only nod.
"Young Master Xiao likes Wanwan, and the brothers are afraid he will take her away from him."
Wan Yuechi explained to Wanwan earnestly.
Originally, I thought Baili Wanwan would be angry, but to my surprise, she suddenly burst out laughing after hearing this.
