Chapter Ninety: Mermaid Baby Encounters Sea Serpent Attack

"Swim!"

Baili Wanwan answered honestly, "He Yong knows I'm a great swimmer, so he's asking me for advice."

Upon hearing this, Wan Yuekui lowered his head and muttered, "No wonder he's been bothering you every day..."

His voice was too soft for Wanwan to hear clearly, so she had to look up at him and ask, "What?"

"Huh? Ah! It's nothing!" Wan Yuekui shrugged it off.

Then, his eyes lit up, and he said to Baili Wanwan, "Wanwan, why don't I go swimming with you guys? I'm not a very good swimmer!"

He said that on the surface, but secretly he still wanted to hang out with Baili Wanwan.

Ouch!

Before Wanwan could even agree, Wan Yuekui was suddenly struck on the back of the head.

"Looks like I didn't assign enough homework! You still have the mind to go swimming!"

Before Wan Yuekui could turn around, Wan Suizhou's voice came from behind him.

Wan Yuekui covered the back of his head, looking resentful.

Wan Suizhou pretended not to see it and continued to lecture: "Look at Chi'er, he stays in the house reading all day, while you run around the village like crazy every day! If you want to play, why don't you go play with Chi'er!"

Wan Yuekui stuck out his neck, looking indignant: "I want to play with Wanwan! Yuechi is turning into a bookworm! He only finds fun in books, it's so boring!"

"You're still arguing back!"

Enraged, Wan Suizhou gritted his teeth and raised his arm as if to strike.

Wan Yuekui dared not say anything more, shut his mouth, shrank his neck, and took advantage of Wan Suizhou's inattention to jump far away.

Even so, Wan Yuekui still seemed unconvinced and made a face at Wan Suizhou.

Wan Suizhou naturally became energetic.

In the end, Wan Yuekui naturally suffered the loss.

He was punished by copying the Analects ten times before the matter was considered closed.

After a period of peaceful days, Baili Wanwan would still go out to sea with Zhang Xiu whenever she had free time.

Zhang Xiu had become accustomed to Baili Wanwan's water-entry techniques and didn't bother to discipline him much.

However, I would still remind her to be careful when she went into the sea.

Wanwan would smile and agree, then jump into the sea.

Only when the small boat on the sea gradually shrinks will she transform into a fish tail and move freely on the seabed.

On this day, Wanwan was searching for treasure in the sea as usual.

The 'treasure' wasn't anything precious or valuable; it was just something she liked.

For example, pearls, novel fish, shells, or shrimp and crabs.

Having fished with Zhang Xiu for so long, she already knew which fish fetched the highest price, so she paid extra attention when catching them.

Just as she looked down to search, she suddenly noticed a large shadow above her.

She looked up and saw that it was a beautiful blue whale.

Adult blue whales are enormous, and although this one is not small either, Wanwan can tell from its innocent eyes that it is still an immature whale.

The whale also noticed the bend at this time.

Perhaps because they were both symbiotic beings in the ocean, the whale did not attack her. Instead, it swam up to Wanwan and tried to nuzzle her with its head.

Wanwan carefully reached out her hand and gently placed it in front of its head.

As if sensing each other's presence, the two revealed the most docile expressions to each other.

"Hello, new friend..."

Baili Wanwan chuckled and reached out to stroke the whale.

To her surprise, the whale flipped over like a dog, revealing its snow-white belly.

The two played around for a while, and then the whale let Wanwan sit on its back and swam in the sea with her.

It wasn't until Wanwan came to her senses that she realized the whale had led her far away, all the way to the seabed.

The sea is deeper here.

She looked up and found that the sunlight was just a hazy white, and the surroundings were indistinct, with the sea plants not being clearly visible, as if shrouded in a black veil.

Not far away, there seemed to be a colossal object standing tall.

It was pitch black, like a mountain.

What is that?

Curious, Baili Wanwan reached out and used her spiritual power to store a small ball of light in her palm, then slowly swam towards the enormous creature.

Only when she swam right up to the enormous creature did Baili Wanwan finally get a clear look at its entirety—

It was a huge shipwreck.

The ship is made entirely of wood, so it has been severely corroded by seawater. The deck and hull are covered with various marine organisms.

Baili Wanwan was surprised, so she carefully swam over to her.

She swam to the deck and, among a group of corals, saw many messy boxes.

On the broken box, she saw crystal-clear gems that shone with various lights.

"Could this be the shipwreck from the previous dynasty that Grandpa was talking about?"

Baili Wanwan was attracted by these things, but she did not notice that a sea snake as thick as a bowl was lurking among the pile of boxes and corals.

Its sweet dreams were disturbed by Baili Wanwan, and its lurking hunger made it covet Baili Wanwan.

So it slowly approached, and just as Baili Wanwan was about to go forward to investigate, it arched its body, preparing to take a bite.

Just at this critical moment, the whale behind Baili Wanwan suddenly let out a cry.

Before Baili Wanwan could react, he used his back to push her away from the box.

The sea serpent that was launched missed its target, completely exposing itself to Baili Wanwan's view.

When the sea serpent appeared, it stirred up huge clumps of mud and other debris covering the shipwreck.

"What a huge sea snake!"

Although Baili Wanwan escaped a disaster, she couldn't help but marvel.

Most sea snakes are about the same size as land snakes, but this python-like size is the first time I've ever seen one like this in the Hundred Mile Bend.
