Chapter Ninety-One: The Mermaid Cubs and the Secrets of the Shipwreck

The whale seemed to sense something and nuzzled against her.

Seeing that it was getting late, Baili Wanwan looked at the whale with reluctance, then whispered, "I've stayed in the sea for too long, I have to go back to my aunt. I'll come to play with you again another day..."

The giant whale seemed to understand her language, and it lay on the seabed, quietly watching her.

Wanwan glanced back at the giant whale with some confusion, and it took her a long time to guess the whale's intention.

Do you want me to lie on your back?

As soon as Wanwan said that, Dajing nodded eagerly.

Wanwan didn't want to refuse her kindness, so she rolled over and sat on the whale's back.

The next second, the whale moved and personally escorted her out of the sea.

At that moment, Zhang Xiu was pulling in the nets when he suddenly saw a huge shadow swimming across the once azure sea.

She thought it was a giant shark and was so frightened that she almost dropped the fishing net.

As the shadow gradually rose to the surface, the whale slowly revealed half of its body.

On that enormous back, she knelt gracefully, like a fairy born from the sea god.

"Auntie!"

Wanwan jumped from the whale's back into the cabin, startling Zhang Xiu who was standing nearby.

"Good heavens, how did you end up on that huge thing!"

Zhang Xiu pulled her to his side while checking her for injuries.

Wanwan smiled and said, "This is a new friend I met. It was Tai who brought me back..."

Zhang Xiu finally breathed a sigh of relief and turned his gaze to the giant whale not far away.

At this moment, it floated to the surface, and the air vents on its head sprayed seawater far away, reflecting seven colors under the sunlight.

Baili Wanwan jumped and laughed, and the whale responded with a cry.

The setting sun, falling on the sea, dyed the sky with rosy hues, and the sea, like a giant mirror, reflected the colors of the sky.

Wanwan waved to the whale and followed Zhang Xiu home.

“Auntie, I saw a huge shipwreck when we were at the bottom of the sea.”

Wanwan told Zhang Xiu everything that had just happened.

Zhang Xiu recalled the story he had heard from Wan Suizhou a few days ago, and his mind began to ponder.

"Wanwan, are you sure you didn't see it wrong?" Zhang Xiu asked again, uncertainly.

It wasn't until she met Wanwan's innocent and honest eyes that she believed her.

The boat docked at the shore, and Wan Suizhou, along with Wan Yuekui, helped collect the fish.

While Zhang Xiu and the others were busy, they talked about what had just happened to Wanwan.

Wan Suizhou initially thought that Wanwan finding the double-eared bottle was just good luck.

Now, listening to Zhang Xiu's words, he felt that the probability of the ship sinking in the waters near Hailan Village was almost 80 or 90 percent.

If that's true, it would be a very big deal.

Wan Suizhou tossed and turned all night, and got up early the next morning, deciding to go to town.

As always, the winding path follows.

Just three miles outside the village, the two were stopped by a man.

Although the man was dressed in coarse cloth and was a commoner, his burly figure, cold and fierce expression, and the many calluses on his right hand made it clear that he was no ordinary person.

I wonder what kind of organization they're from, and who they're working for.

"Have either of you seen this before?" The man held up a sandalwood box, which, when opened, revealed a large luminous pearl inside.

Baili Wanwan immediately recognized the luminous pearl in the box as the one she had found in the sea.

However, she remained wary and did not speak, but instead secretly glanced at Wan Suizhou beside her.

Judging from the expression in Wan Suizhou's eyes, he seemed to have some doubts as well.

But he didn't show anything. Instead, he pretended to be unaware and said in surprise, "This gentleman's pearl is really big. He must have spent a lot of money to buy it!"

The man squinted at Wan Suizhou, then said to him with some impatience, "Never mind where this thing came from, I'm just asking you, have you ever seen this before, and do you know its origin!"

Seeing the man's fierce and menacing appearance, Wan Suizhou guessed that this matter was definitely not as simple as he had imagined.

So he shook his head and said, "I've lived most of my life and I've never seen anything so big..."

"Then what are you doing in the way! Get out of here!"

When the man realized he couldn't get anything out of Wan Suizhou, his expression immediately changed, and he dismissed the man with a few words.

Wan Suizhou led Baili Wanwan forward without looking back until he could no longer see the man behind him. Only then did he stop and look down at Wanwan.

"Does that luminous pearl in the man's hand look familiar to you?"

Faced with Wan Suizhou's question, Baili Wanwan couldn't lie and could only nod silently.

"Is yours the same one the man is holding?"

Wan Suizhou frowned and continued to ask her questions.

If someone could easily obtain such a large luminous pearl, it wouldn't be considered a treasure.

The reason Wan Suizhou asked again and again was that he was certain that the one in the man's hand was most likely the one that Baili Wanwan had obtained.

Seeing that she couldn't hide it any longer, Baili Wanwan had no choice but to answer honestly: "Wanwan doesn't know if that's the one either, because the one I found was lost sometime ago..."

Although Wan Suizhou found the disappearance of the luminous pearl suspicious, he thought that since the item was too valuable, its loss might actually be a good thing, so he didn't say anything more.

He only instructed Wanwan, "This man is carrying the luminous pearl around asking around, there must be some big secret here. If anyone asks again, you must not say that you found the luminous pearl, understand?"
