Chapter Thirty: The Mermaid Baby Finally Escaped

Baili Wanwan observed the room for a long time and finally found some miscellaneous items that she could step on.

This used to be a woodshed, and there are quite a few odds and ends here.

To avoid arousing suspicion, Baili Wanwan used her spiritual power to move everything until she could stand on the stacked items and reach the window.

But after she climbed up, even greater difficulties arose.

The window was tightly shut; it was impossible for her to open it with her own strength.

Just then, voices suddenly came from outside.

Baili Wanwan was startled and quickly jumped down to hide.

But the people outside showed no intention of coming in, and the two of them started chatting outside instead.

"Hey, time to eat..."

"Hey, there's meat today..."

Baili Wanwan listened to the sounds outside and realized that someone had come to deliver food to the guards outside.

Listening to the sounds of people happily eating outside, Baili Wanwan rubbed her stomach, which had been full all day, and licked her lips.

She's so hungry too...

With that in mind, she started trying to find a way to get out again.

Fortunately, perseverance pays off. With the help of her strength and spiritual power, she finally managed to open the tightly closed window.

As soon as the window was opened, a refreshing breeze blew in.

Baili Wanwan was a little excited, but she didn't dare to make too much noise.

The window is located in the backyard, where there is an open corner gate.

Baili Wanwan took three steps at a time and hurriedly climbed onto the window.

But just as she was about to jump out and escape, the pile of things she had accumulated suddenly collapsed.

The loud noise alerted the people outside, who began using their keys to open the door, trying to find out what Baili Wanwan was up to inside.

"Damn it! We absolutely can't let them catch us!"

Baili Wanwan knew that if she was caught this time, it would be difficult for her to escape again.

So he didn't care about anything else and hurriedly jumped out of the window and ran outside.

At this moment, the man guarding outside had already opened the door. After looking around, he did not see Baili Wanwan. Then he saw the pile of things under the window and the open window. He immediately knew what was going on and hurriedly turned around and chased after her.

"You brat! Don't run away!"

The man's words echoed behind her not far away. Baili Wanwan thought to herself, "I'd be a fool not to run!"

So he ran even faster.

Unlike ordinary children, he runs extremely fast through the winding road.

The thug behind them was clearly an adult, but he always lagged far behind Baili Wanwan and could never catch up.

It was already late, and there were no pedestrians on the road. Baili Wanwan had nowhere to call for help.

She didn't know how long she had been running when Baili Wanwan suddenly smelled a familiar scent. By this time, she was exhausted and running at a pace similar to that of a child.

Seeing that the people behind her were about to catch up with her, she immediately turned around and ran towards the direction of the familiar scent.

Then suddenly a vast expanse of deep blue sea appeared before my eyes.

The surging waves, carrying a familiar scent, made Bailiwanwan instantly feel much safer.

The man behind her, seeing that she had nowhere to run after reaching the beach, also relaxed his guard. He approached Baili Wanwan step by step, his face fierce: "You little brat, you can run pretty fast! Let's see where you can run to this time!"

As he spoke, he reached out to grab Baili Wanwan.

At that very moment, Baili Wanwan suddenly gave him a sweet smile, then jumped into the sea without looking back.

The thug missed his target and nearly fell headfirst into the sea.

The moment Baili Wanwan entered the water, her legs transformed into a fish tail.

She rolled over comfortably a few times, then poked her head out to look at the thug before diving into the deep sea.

"It's over, it's all over..."

The thug didn't know Baili Wanwan's identity; he just thought that if the child jumped into the sea, she would most likely not survive.

He searched on the shore for a long time but couldn't see Baili Wanwan's head emerge. In the end, he could only hurriedly go back to report.

Baili Wanwan hasn't swum so freely in the sea for a long time.

Although she knew that if she didn't hurry back, the Wan family would likely worry about her.

But the gentle and comfortable touch of the seawater made her reluctant to leave.

As she swam freely, she suddenly noticed tiny lights emanating from the deep sea.

Driven by curiosity, she swam down into the deepest part of the ocean.

Among a cluster of beautiful and diverse corals, she discovered the source of the light.

It was a luminous pearl larger than her palm, and in the deep sea, its warm glow attracted all kinds of fish to swarm around it.

“So beautiful…” Baili Wanwan picked it up and examined it closely.

A faint halo surrounded the luminous pearl, making even Baili Wanwan's hands appear smooth and lustrous.

“Take her back, Auntie will definitely be happy!” Baili Wanwan said as she tucked the luminous pearl into her bosom.

Then she tried to swim to the surface of the water.

Just then, she suddenly noticed a huge figure behind her.

She quickly turned around and found a huge shark staring intently at her with its gaping maw.

She quickly dodged.

The shark missed her and quickly changed direction, heading towards her again.

"How dare you! You little shark, you dare attack me!"

Enraged, Baili Wanwan made a hand seal, and a white spiritual energy rose from her fingertips, heading towards the shark.

The shark, in pain, began to become somewhat agitated, but Baili Wanwan possessed spiritual power, making this uncivilized animal a simple matter for her.

The shark quickly realized it couldn't eat her and began to flee.

However, Bailiwanwan discovered an important problem: this sea area is where nearby villagers often fish, and generally speaking, sharks would not appear.

It's unclear why this shark is here, but if left unattended, the local people could very well end up as its prey.

After much deliberation, Baili Wanwan decided to lure the shark to deeper waters, where few humans venture and where there would be no danger.

After this back and forth, it was two days later before Baili Wanwan finally got ashore and returned to the Wan family.

The Wan family was already frantic with worry because of Baili Wanwan's unexplained disappearance.

They asked around in every household in the village, including Zhao Damei's family, but they couldn't find Baili Wanwan anywhere.

Zhang Xiu couldn't even catch fish anymore, and spent his days sighing and complaining at home.

"Grandpa Wan! Auntie!"

When Baili Wanwan's small figure appeared at the Wan family's doorstep, everyone's faces showed not only shock and disbelief, but also, and perhaps more importantly, surprise.

"Wanwan! It's Wanwan!"

At this moment, the two brothers, Wan Yuekui and Wan Yuechi, ran out first and picked up Baili Wanwan in their arms.

The three children's faces were filled with innocent smiles, which brought tears to the eyes of the adults.
