Chapter Twenty-Three: The Mermaid Child Teaches His Bad Grandpa a Lesson

Huge waves suddenly surged up, seemingly more than twenty feet high.

"There's a monster!!" To avoid arousing Wan Suijin's suspicion, she quickly pointed behind him.

Wan Suijin didn't believe it at first, and just sneered, saying, "Little trick! You don't think you can fool people with this method, do you?"

After he finished speaking, he went to catch Baili Wanwan again.

In that instant, he suddenly felt as if the sky was blocking out the sun.

The moment he turned around, a huge wave swept him up and slammed him into the sea.

"I've already told you there are monsters, but you still wouldn't believe me..."

Baili Wanwan stood on the shore, muttering to herself.

Wan Suijin is a complete landlubber; he's never been to sea in his entire life.

This time, he was swept into the sea by the strange waves and completely panicked. Boiling and sinking, the feeling of being on the verge of death amplified his fear countless times.

"Help... glug glug..."

"Help... I can't swim..."

Wan Suijin struggled in the water, but the only living person standing on the shore at this moment was Baili Wanwan, who looked to be about three years old.

"Help...help me..."

When people are most afraid, they don't care about anything else.

His gaze was fixed on Baili Wanwan, and he wept bitterly, hoping she could save him.

"Grandpa, can you tell me the truth about where you're taking Wanwan later?" Baili Wanwan asked slowly, looking at Wan Suijin, who was in great danger in the sea.

"I'll talk, I'll talk..."

In order to survive, Wan Suijin didn't care about anything else, and regardless of whether Baili Wanwan could understand him, he told her all the truth in his heart.

At that moment, fishermen returning from the sea happened to pass by.

Although Baili Wanwan disliked Wan Suijin very much, she still asked the fishermen to pull him out of the water.

Once ashore, Wan Suijin had swallowed a bellyful of seawater, leaving him extremely weak.

But he kept spitting out seawater and shouting madly, "There's a monster! There's a monster in the sea!"

Then, whether out of fear or guilt, he got up and ran away in a hurry.

Baili Wanwan was left standing there, frowning as she pondered how to get back to the Wan family.

When the fishermen saw a little girl wandering all this way alone without an adult, they kindly went up to her and asked, "Little girl, what are you doing here all by yourself in the middle of nowhere?"

Baili Wanwan replied softly, "It was Grandpa who brought me out. He said he was going to take me to some rich man Zhou's house to eat lots of delicious food..."

Although the fisherman didn't claim to be from the same village as Wan Suijin, Wan had heard of his reputation for being cunning, lazy, greedy, and slippery.

Moreover, everyone in the surrounding villages has heard of this wealthy man.

Upon hearing Baili Wanwan's words, the fisherman's face showed a look of disgust, as if he had swallowed a live fly.

"This is inhuman! How could he do this to such a cute and well-behaved little girl!"

Baili Wanwan didn't understand what the fisherman was so indignant about, so she asked him, "Why did Grandpa give Wanwan to Master Zhou? Does he really like children?"

"Don't listen to his nonsense! He's lying to you! He just wants to sell you out! You must never listen to him again!"

After giving them instructions, the fishermen thoughtfully offered to take Bailiwanwan back.

Just then, the Wan family's men returned. Upon seeing that Baili Wanwan was not there, they were all shocked and broke out in a cold sweat.

The family only breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Baili Wanwan being sent back home.

But before they could even catch their breath, the fisherman's next words made their faces turn very ugly.

"From now on, you must keep a close eye on your children. If I hadn't passed by today, your adorable little girl would have been sent to Master Zhou's house!"

The adults in the Wan family were not unaware of Master Zhou's background and eccentricities.

The fishermen recounted all of Wan Suizhou's misdeeds. Wan Suizhou, his face ashen, dragged Baili Wanwan along to demand an explanation.

"Wanwan is so young, yet he dares to have such thoughts. Does he think there's no one else in the family?"

Wan Suizhou left with a fierce expression.

Unfortunately, Wan Suijin seemed to know that his knowledge would be exposed, so he kept the door tightly shut and refused to come out no matter how much Wan Suizhou knocked.

"Wan Suijin! You're testing my limits! Do you really think I'll tolerate you forever?!"

Wan Suijin and his family hid inside their house, adhering to the principle that he would never show his face as long as the sky didn't fall, and resolutely refused to make a sound.

Wan Suizhou knocked on the door for a long time, but in the end, he still couldn't get the teacher to come out.

He sighed, glanced at Baili Wanwan with some guilt, and gently stroked her head, saying, "It's all Grandpa's fault, I've made you suffer..."

Instead, Wanwan shook her head and replied very considerately, "Grandpa Wan is fine, Wanwan is alright, and he can't stay home forever, right..."

Wan Suizhou glanced coldly at the gate of the Wan Suijin family's house and said firmly, "Wanwan is right! Grandpa will definitely get justice for you!"

Wan Suijin refused to leave the house, so the two had no choice but to return.

On the way, they unexpectedly ran into Wan Yuekui.

But he was acting suspiciously, and Wanwan could tell at a glance that he must have done something bad.

But she didn't want Grandpa Wan to know, so she suppressed her curiosity all the way home. As soon as she got home, she pulled him into the house and whispered to him.

Wan Yuekui didn't want to hide it from her. When she asked, he leaned closer to her and whispered, "When I was looking for you on the way, I ran into that brat Wan Qiusui. To get revenge for you, I pinned him to the ground and beat him up. He definitely won't dare to bully you again when he sees you!"

"Really?" Baili Wanwan was very surprised to hear him say that.

Whether it's Wan Qiusui or Wan Suijin, their whole family is detestable.

Teaching these people she disliked a lesson made her feel much better afterward.

"Brother Kui, you're amazing! Thank you!"

Seeing Baili Wanwan's happy expression, Wan Yuekui scratched his head shyly.

But the two were unaware that their conversation had been overheard by Wan Suizhou, who was standing nearby.

By the time Wan Yuekui noticed, Wan Suizhou was already standing behind him, looking at him with a gloomy expression. "Grandpa, Grandfather..."

Wan Yuekui immediately lost his previous arrogance.

"What did Grandpa teach you before?! Have you forgotten it all?! How dare you hit someone first!"

"I just wanted to stand up for Wanwan..." Wan Yuekui was still trying to explain.

But Wan Suizhou's face grew increasingly angry.

"A gentleman is upright and honest! If you talk like that, how are you any different from the thugs who bullied you!"

Wan Yuekui lowered his head, not daring to utter a single word after being reprimanded.
