Zhang Xiu had a sprained arm, but he forced himself to stand up and used the rope he used to tie fish to bind the person tightly.
Baili Wanwan's hands trembled as she hid behind her, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at the villain emanating black light: "He's a bad person! He's so evil!"
Zhang Xiu patted her head reassuringly, then picked her up.
With that one lift, several money bags of various shapes and colors immediately fell off his body.
"He's a repeat offender!"
The straightforward Zhang Xiu tugged at the rope, "Let's go, let's take him to the authorities!"
"Brother constable! You have to stand up for us!"
A young man dressed like a playboy, with bruised eyes and a grimacing grin, said, "Not only did I lose my purse, but when I got home, my wife beat me up, insisting I went to a brothel and drank with prostitutes! If I don't find it, I won't be able to go home today!"
Another middle-aged man in coarse linen clothes was also wiping away tears: "My purse is full of money for my mother's medical treatment, what am I going to do!"
The group of people were chattering noisily, and the constable had no choice but to nudge his companion.
"What are you standing there for? Go and call the master!"
He lowered his voice and gestured towards the young boy standing to the side, surrounded by servants, "Didn't you see that the master's son is here too? Hurry up and go!"
The young constable nodded quickly and rushed into the inner hall.
The constable chuckled and stepped forward, bowing slightly: "Don't worry, our master will be here soon and will surely be able to find your purse!"
The servant standing nearby glared angrily: "If you delay our young master from buying birthday gifts for the old lady, we'll hold you all accountable!"
The constable's smile froze, and he quickly flattered, "Yes, yes, yes, we'll take care of it right away!"
Baili Wanwan heard the commotion in the county government office from afar and quickly tugged at Zhang Xiu's sleeve.
"Auntie, is this the place? There are so many people here!"
Zhang Xiu dragged the person to the door and banged on the drum at the door.
The constables were immediately in a state of panic.
"Another one? This is really unbelievable!"
Upon receiving a response, Zhang Xiu dragged the unconscious villain into the main hall.
Dragged along like this, the villain slowly woke up and, seeing that he was tied up, immediately started cursing.
"You woman, let me go!"
But as soon as he opened his mouth, a fishy smell of shrimp hit his face, almost making him faint again.
This unusual trio immediately attracted the attention of everyone present, even the young boy who had been standing aside turned his head slightly to look at them.
Baili Wanwan looked around and immediately spotted the middle-aged man crying.
She's crying so hard, she must have lost so many fish!
Baili Wanwan immediately strode over with her short legs and gently took his hand.
"Uncle, did you lose your purse?"
The middle-aged man paused, looking at the little girl who was even smaller than his own daughter, and couldn't help but lower his voice.
"Yes, Uncle is useless; he lost his money pouch."
Baili Wanwan took out three money pouches from her bosom and held them out in her palm: "Is this what it is?"
My aunt just used this white stuff inside to exchange for a pretty dress, so it must be money!
"Hey, isn't this mine?!"
The young master with black eyes snatched his money bag back and happily opened it to count the money.
The middle-aged man's eyes lit up with joy, and he rubbed his hands awkwardly: "This is mine."
Baili Wanwan readily handed over the money bag: "Uncle, please keep it safe."
A hint of interest flashed in the young boy's eyes as he took the last indigo purse, inlaid with silver thread, from his fair palm.
"This is mine, thank you."
Upon being praised by the handsome young man, Baili Wanwan immediately smiled and said, "You're welcome!"
After counting the money, the young master looked at the child suspiciously: "Wait a minute, how come you have our money bag? Could it be... that you stole it?"
Hearing his sarcastic words, Zhang Xiu, who was protective of his own, was immediately furious.
"Are those two holes on your nose just for breathing?! How tall is our Wanwan? She can't even reach your purse, how could she steal from you, you brainless bastard!"
Hearing Zhang Xiu's words, the young master subconsciously shrank back, but still retorted, "Who, who knows if you two are in cahoots!"
Zhang Xiu's anger intensified, and he pointed at his nose, cursing, "You filthy, rotten thing, can't you see this bound villain? If it weren't for me and Wanwan capturing him, you wouldn't be able to go home tonight!"
Baili Wanwan pouted, feeling wronged: "That bad guy even hurt my aunt's arm!"
Everyone looked at Zhang Xiu's unnaturally hanging arm and immediately understood.
The young master was speechless, muttering "Women are all tigresses," and slunk away.
The county magistrate, who was away on official business, rushed over and, seeing the chaos below, angrily slammed his gavel.
"Who are the people below the hall...?"
Before he could finish speaking, he spotted the burly man with a ferocious expression in the center of the hall.
"Hu Sanbiao!"
The magistrate was so shocked that he forgot all about decorum and hurried over. Ignoring the man's cursing, he pulled on the man's beard and examined him carefully before confirming the diagnosis.
"Who brought Hu Sanbiao to the hall?"
Zhang Xiu stepped forward and bowed: "It is I, a young woman. Today I came to the city to buy things. Around 3 PM, I was returning home with my niece when we encountered this villain following us. Fortunately, the villain slipped and fell, which allowed me to subdue him."
