Chapter 111 You Deserve It

Yuan Qi watched the brother and sister finish eating the dried meat, then gave each of them a piece before walking into the house.

The neighbors who came to watch the commotion exclaimed, "He's a good person! Baozhu and Baoniu have finally met a good man this time!"

Another woman immediately retorted, "So what if you meet a good person? They'll leave soon, and once they're gone, Ma Wu will still beat and scold them as usual, won't he?"

Those around them chimed in, "Yes, yes, those two kids are just unlucky. What can you do? That's just fate."

"A child without a mother is just a blade of grass."

Yuan Qi felt helpless upon hearing this. They were right; she couldn't take care of the two children every moment. She could give them a piece of jerky today, but if she didn't come tomorrow, the two children wouldn't know if they would have anything to eat.

These two children have the appearance of having toiled half their lives, but they are not destined to die young; they just have to suffer in their youth.

As soon as Yuan Qi entered the house, the onlookers outside also squeezed in. Seeing that the house was dirty and messy, with no room to move, they all crowded at the doorway to watch. Everyone felt that the house was much colder inside than outside, and they all looked at each other with a sense of unease.

To make it easier for everyone to watch the spectacle and to let everyone know what kind of bastard Ma Wu is, Yuan Qi waved his hand, made a hand seal, and opened everyone's Yin Eyes.

The neighbors who were watching the commotion gasped in unison. Cuixiang, who had been dead for more than a month, was now floating in mid-air with her head down, her long hair hanging down to cover half of her face, and her tongue sticking out more than an inch.

"mother!"

"mother!"

Baozhu and Baoniu squeezed through the crowd and saw that their mother and son were not afraid at all. Instead, they rushed towards Cuixiang.

Cuixiang realized that everyone around her could see her, and her two children rushed towards her. They missed, and fearing she would frighten them, she immediately composed herself, her terrifying expression from before her death replaced by her normal life demeanor.

The two children thought they had seen their real mother, so they lunged at her with great force, and unsurprisingly, they both fell flat on their faces.

Cuixiang tried to help the children with heartache, but she couldn't touch either of them at all.

The person most afraid here is Ma Wu, who suspects that his nightmares are caused by Cui Xiang, but he never expected that Cui Xiang's ghost is really still there.

He stared at Cuixiang for a long time, unable to say a word.

Cuixiang and her two children were all crying.

Yuan Qi felt sorry for the mother and child. Cui Xiang also regretted her momentary lapse of judgment when she hanged herself, leaving her child alone and helpless.

She had already made up her mind that even if she became a ghost, she would stay by her child's side as he grew up.

Baozhu wiped away his tears with his sleeve: "Mother, when did you come back? Are you leaving again this time? My sister and I miss you."

The brother and sister realized that they could only see Cuixiang but could not touch her, and they knew that something was wrong. They also knew that their mother had died a month ago, and that Baozhu had personally broken the basin for Cuixiang. Their mother was now a ghost.

Cuixiang was also very agitated. Her soul had been here ever since she died. She was worried about her two children, but she could only watch helplessly. When her son and daughter were hungry, she couldn't feed them. When Ma Wu beat her daughter, she couldn't protect her. She was powerless and in great pain, only able to watch her children suffer.

"I'm not leaving. I'll stay with you. Don't be afraid. Your father can't hit me now, but I can still hit him. If he hits you again, I'll kill him!"

Upon hearing this, Ma Wu immediately grabbed Cui Xiang's hair and said, "I know it's you, you stinking woman, who's been tormenting me in my dreams, isn't that right!"

He realized that he couldn't touch Cuixiang at all. Unwilling to give up, he swung his palm, which was as big as a palm leaf fan, and slapped Cuixiang.

"You bitch, you're dead but you still have the nerve to do this! I'll kill you!"

Cui Xiang straightened up and transformed back into the terrifying form she had when she died. She floated towards Ma Wu, who instinctively dodged when he saw her ugly and horrifying appearance.

But Cuixiang rushed towards him regardless, and although she couldn't cause him any real harm, the impact she brought was quite shocking.

The ghosts of the dead passed back and forth through his body, and Ma Wu was so frightened that he ran around frantically to avoid Cui Xiang's ghost, screaming incoherently.

Baozhu and Baoniu witnessed Ma Wu beating Cuixiang many times. Every time Ma Wu drank alcohol, he would beat Cuixiang so badly that she was covered in bruises. No matter how much Cuixiang begged for mercy, Ma Wu would not show any mercy.

Therefore, the two children did not want to stop Cuixiang's revenge at all, and even wanted to help their mother beat him up.

Ma Wu ran to Yuan Qi's side, crouching down and hiding behind him, and only then did Cui Xiang dare not bump into Ma Wu anymore.

"Master, I'm just worried about my children. Please don't take me away. Let me stay here and wait for my two children to grow up safely before I go to the underworld."

Ma Wu then remembered what Yuan Qi did for a living: "Little Taoist priest, I didn't invite you here to watch the show. You should kill her quickly. How dare a dead ghost harm a living person? Aren't you going to do anything about it?"

Yuan Qi coldly pushed him away. Ma Wu was very surprised that he, a grown man, had been pushed to the ground by a little girl.

"Young Taoist priest, you can't just take money and not do anything! There are evil spirits causing trouble, and you're not going to do anything about it? I'm going to report you to the authorities!" Ma Wu threatened Yuan Qi fiercely.

Yuan Qi calmly took out ten copper coins and threw them in front of him: "I don't care about your matter."

Ma Wu spotted the copper coin and quickly picked it up, afraid that onlookers would snatch it from him.

He pointed at Cuixiang: "She's a ghost, I'm a living person. She's trying to harm me. Aren't you Taoist priests supposed to catch ghosts and exorcise demons to uphold justice? How can you ignore this? Do you even deserve to be a Taoist priest?"

Cui Xiang screamed hysterically, "Ma Wu, you deserve it! Even the Celestial Master thinks you deserve to die! Let me tell you, if you drink again or lay a hand on Bao Niu again, I'll beat you in your dreams every day until you die!"

"Young Taoist priest, are you really not going to do anything about it? I'll go to the authorities and report you right now."

Cui Xiang floated over fiercely: "Go ahead and sue me! If you dare to sue me, tonight when you're asleep, I'll burn you to death with a branding iron and strangle you with a rope in your dreams!"

"You dare! You wretched woman, I wasn't afraid of you when you were alive, and I'm even less afraid of you now that you're dead." Ma Wu cursed her through gritted teeth, and even rolled up his sleeves as if to hit her.

Yuan Qi asked him irritably, "Is this what you mean when you say you're good to your wife when you're not drinking? Is that what you call being good?"

Ma Wu revealed his true colors and gave Yuan Qi a cold look: "Isn't giving her money considered being good to her?"

Cuixiang shouted again: "Master, don't listen to him. From the day I married him, he has never been good to me. He gives me some money every month after he receives his allowance, but that's only enough to buy rice and flour. When the child is sick, I have to ask him for money to see a doctor. Every time I ask him, he hits and scolds me and tells me to ask my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law is no good either. She stays behind closed doors and eats all the good food, but she doesn't let the child eat anything!"
