Chapter 122 Illusion

Yuan Qi and Tu Shanli exchanged a glance, and then, without warning, they bent over and burst into laughter.

Xuanyuan Lang was completely baffled. Because of his anger, the murderous aura around him became even stronger, so strong that it completely enveloped him, making it impossible to see his face.

His voice also became rough and fierce: "What are you laughing at!"

Tu Shanli and Yuan Qi finally stopped laughing. Tu Shanli said, "What are you laughing at? Are you laughing at how stupid you are?"

Xuanyuan Lang flicked his sleeves, and much of the black aura around him dissipated. He retorted angrily, "Where am I stupid? You're the stupid ones. You won't be going back alive today. I think it would be better if you two were sacrifices."

Yuan Qi chuckled, pointing her delicate white finger at him: "You still say you're not stupid? Look at your clothes, if I'm not mistaken, that's a python robe, isn't it? Isn't the person wearing a python robe a prince?"

Xuanyuan Lang felt stupid whenever he thought about the past!

"So what? Back then, the emperor and prince of the Baiye Dynasty died young, and they selected an outstanding son from the collateral branches of the Xuanyuan clan to be the crown prince. I was chosen, so I was wearing a python robe. What's so strange about that? What's so funny? The Baiye Dynasty was so glorious, you must have heard of me, right?"

Yuan Qi, hands on his hips with disdain, flicked his sleeves and joined Tu Shan in another round of mockery.

"I've heard of the Baiye Dynasty, but I've never heard of you, Xuanyuan Lang. You're probably just an unknown nobody. Besides, you died so young, without even becoming emperor. Who would remember you? Tell me, why did you die so young in this Sai River?"

Xuanyuan Lang snorted angrily: "Is it any of your business? Prepare to die!"

With a wave of his hands, many fish of all sizes floated to the surface of the water, poised to be launched like arrows on a bowstring.

The next second, all the fish within a one-mile radius of Tushan rushed towards Yuan Qi and the two of them.

The two quickly formed hand seals and set up a barrier to block the attacking fish.

Fish of all sizes crashed into the barrier and fell into the water, but a continuous stream of fish kept rushing in, and after a while, the barrier could no longer hold up.

The two worked together to repair the cracks in the barrier.

But it seemed to be no use. The two looked at the bottom of the water and decided to go in.

Just a second before the barrier shattered, the two dived into the water, and a swarm of fish chased after them.

Yuan Qi cursed directly: "Damn it, what a miscalculation! Fish move faster in water."

The two rushed out of the water and charged straight at Xuan Yuanlang.

This attracted a swarm of fish that charged towards Xuanyuan Lang.

Xuanyuan Lang had no choice but to withdraw his attack and chant the incantation again, causing the water plants to grow and spread again, heading towards Yuan Qi and Tu Shanli's attack force.

This time, the water plants were even more turbulent, surrounding the two from all sides and attacking them indiscriminately.

Yuan Qi kept throwing out explosive talismans, but their effect was limited.

"If you act so rudely, don't blame me for being ruthless." Yuan Qi formed a hand seal, and a cluster of flames emerged from his fingertips. As soon as the flames touched the water plants, they quickly disappeared.

No one can withstand the karmic fire of the Red Lotus, let alone a tiny waterweed. Even if Xuanyuan Lang himself were to come into contact with the karmic fire of the Red Lotus, he would only be able to flee for his life.

Driven by Yuan Qi's magical power, the Red Lotus Karmic Fire spread like wildfire, quickly obliterating all the aquatic plants on the river's surface. Even Xuan Yuanlang himself, upon seeing the formidable flames, hid underwater.

The river returned to calm, and even the malevolent aura vanished completely, as if it had never existed.

Yuan Qi put away the Red Lotus Karmic Flame and looked around to find Xuan Yuanlang's whereabouts.

Tu Shanli, standing right next to Yuan Qi, said, "Be careful. This person has been operating in this water area for a thousand years. He won't be defeated so easily."

As the two were searching for Xuan Yuanlang, a wisp of waterweed slowly crawled up from the bottom of the water, silently, without Yuan Qi or Tu Shanli noticing it.

Suddenly, their ankles got tangled in the seaweed and they were dragged underwater very quickly.

They looked down at the water plants, which slowly changed from dark green to light green, and then became colorless and transparent.

The water plants dragged them at an extremely fast speed toward the deepest part. Yuan Qi found that she couldn't even summon her weapon by making hand seals; it seemed that she had lost her magic power.

Looking again at Tushan, they too are struggling in vain.

That water ghost is really something!

Suddenly the surrounding water became murky, so dark that nothing could be seen, and it was filled with the giggling and groaning of all sorts of ghosts and monsters, with piercing, sinister laughter that never ceased.

Gradually, the turbidity faded, and the strange laughter grew fainter.

The two held their breath, and when they could see their surroundings clearly, they realized that they were not underwater, but in a large royal complex!

Yuan Qi was very surprised.

The weather was clear and sunny. A palace maid in a light blue palace dress and a eunuch in a dark blue palace dress passed by in single file, as if they hadn't seen each other.

"Where is this place?"

Tu Shanli said, "This is an illusion created by Xuanyuan Lang; our physical bodies are still underwater."

Yuan Qi responded with an "oh." The Tu Shan clan were a nine-tailed fox clan, skilled in illusion and seduction techniques, so it wasn't difficult for them to discover that this was an illusion.

"The Baiye Dynasty from over a thousand years ago is probably Xuanyuan Lang's deepest regret and also his most powerful move. If we break this illusion, we will defeat him."

Yuan Qi sighed, "Since we're already here, let's go take a look. Who told us to fall into their trap without even realizing it?"

After walking a few steps, a group of maids came towards them, but the maids ignored the two of them.

Tu Shanli: "They can't see us."

Yuan Qi glanced at him and said, "I already noticed."

She tried to grab a maid, but her hand passed right through the maid and she couldn't hold her at all.

"We can't touch them either."

"Hey!" Yuan Qi, unwilling to give up, caught up with the last of the group of maids.

The last maid looked around and saw no one behind her, yet someone called out, which surprised her.

Yuan Qi was pleasantly surprised: "They can hear our voices. Why is that?"

Tu Shanli said, "I don't know, let's wait and see."

The two walked towards the Xuanzheng Hall.

Inside the Xuanzheng Hall, important state affairs were being discussed. Sitting on the dragon throne was Emperor Xuanyuan Xin, a man around fifty years old with some white hair at his temples and on the top of his head.

Yuan Qi had no interest in history books, nor did Tu Shanli, so neither of them had any idea what would happen in this era.

It's fair to say they were completely in the dark.

Many ministers stood in the main hall. An elderly minister stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty is getting old, and both of your sons have died young. For the sake of the future, I urge Your Majesty to select an outstanding descendant from the collateral branches as soon as possible to establish a crown prince, so as to reassure the people."

Upon hearing this, the court officials stepped forward to second it.

The emperor on the dragon throne seemed to have anticipated this, and asked, "Then, in your opinion, who should I choose as the crown prince?"
