That night, Yuan Qi was sleeping soundly when she heard fighting outside. She immediately perked up and ran out without even putting on her coat, slipping on her shoes.
In the courtyard stood a person dressed in black, with their hair tied in a topknot and their face covered with a black cloth, but judging from their figure, they appeared to be a woman.
Yuan Qi recognized the woman in black as Kong Ling at a glance. She had sneaked in without being detected by the Jiang family's guards, probably because she used a teleportation talisman.
The god grew to a very large size, almost the size of a human, and attacked the person from above, emitting a sharp cry.
Kong Ling hadn't expected Yuan Qi to have a guard bird, and this bird, with hundreds of years of cultivation, was quite powerful; she was no match for it. She wielded a sword, her attacks on Shen Xun becoming increasingly fierce.
Shenxun flapped its wings, and sand and stones flew in the courtyard. The newcomer couldn't even open its eyes. To avoid being scratched by Shenxun, it could only desperately swing the sword in its hand.
Shen Xun's shouts were so loud that they alerted the guards in the mansion, and even Jiang Zhengqing, Jiang Junjing, and Jiang Juncai came to see what was going on.
Yuan Qi sat on the steps, excitedly cheering. She didn't forget to clap her hands: "Go Shen Xun, nag her to death! It's one thing to break into the Jiang residence, but to dare to break into my courtyard is another. You asked for it, so don't blame me."
Shen Xun picked up the pebbles on the ground and attacked Kong Ling fiercely. Kong Ling dodged nimbly, but was still hit by several stones. The stones were imbued with spiritual power, and she lay on the ground unable to move.
The Jiang family's guards immediately drew their swords and bound her without saying a word.
Shen Xun also returned to its original size, standing on Yuan Qi's shoulder, proudly claiming credit.
Yuan Qi patted his head: "I'll have Hongshan make you some delicious meatballs tomorrow."
Shen Xun obediently nuzzled Yuan Qi's face and said, "I'm still somewhat useful, right?"
Yuan Qi nodded and said, "You're very useful. I've really made the most of raising you."
Yuan Qi walked over, pulled down the ethereal black veil covering her face, and laughed a few times: "I knew it was you, I've been waiting for you for so long."
Jiang Zhengqing came over and looked at the female assassin: "Xiao Qi, do you know her?"
Yuan Qi said, "Yes, I know him. He's from Wuji Palace, the Grand Preceptor's nephew, named Kongling."
Kong Ling wasn't afraid at all, glaring angrily at the group: "Now that you know who I am, why don't you release me right now?"
Jiang Junyu walked over, fanning herself with a fan: "Oh ho, you've trespassed into someone else's residence and you still think you're right?"
Kong Ling chuckled: "Knowing that I am the Grand Preceptor's nephew, who dares to do anything to me? Do you think that if I are handed over to the authorities, they will punish me?"
She looked at the Jiang family members with disdain, not taking them seriously at all.
Yuan Qi knew that Kong Ling was arrogant and disdainful of everyone; otherwise, he wouldn't have been so bold as to hide Xiao Zhen.
“You’re right. If we hand you over to the authorities, they certainly won’t dare to punish you. But what if my father hands you over to the Emperor, and the Emperor sends people to find Xiao Zhen’s body in Wuji Palace? What would happen then?”
Kong Ling didn't care at all. She had already burned Xiao Zhen's body, and not even a trace of his bones could be found. Yuan Qi had no way of finding Xiao Zhen's body.
"I knew it was you who ransacked my room!" she shouted, raising an eyebrow. "Give me back my things!"
Yuan Qi clicked his tongue a few times: "What good things doesn't my Jiang family have? Why would we need to steal from you? But you, coming uninvited, what are you trying to steal?"
"I didn't intend to steal anything, I just wanted to get my things back. Let me go and give my things back!" Kong Ling had never seen such a shameless child and was extremely annoyed.
Yuan Qi: "I've already said, I have everything. Besides, even if I didn't, my dad and brother would buy it for me. There's no need for me to steal!"
"Talismans, pills! Give them back!" Kong Ling shouted angrily. Those were her treasures, saved up for many years, given to her by her master, which she had always been reluctant to use. She never imagined that the thief would steal them all.
Yuan Qi turned and went into the house, took out a stack of talismans and two small bottles to show her, and even poured out two pills.
"See that? I can draw the talismans myself, and I can refine the pills myself. Do I need to steal yours?" Yuan Qi didn't say that the pills from Wuji Palace were no good, wouldn't that be an admission of guilt?
However, Kong Ling could tell at a glance that the thing Yuan Qi had was much better than hers, and she was certain that the thing Yuan Qi had was not from Wuji Palace.
Even my master and uncle couldn't create something this good.
Yuan Qi casually picked up an explosive talisman and threw it into the air.
"Bang!" The explosive talisman was so powerful that it stunned the guards.
Kong Ling was annoyed: "How could you be so wasteful? Explosive talismans are so hard to draw!"
Yuan Qi chuckled and shook his head, looking quite arrogant: "I can draw it anytime, anywhere. Wasn't the explosion just now beautiful? It was almost like fireworks. If you want to see it, I'll set one off for you."
As she spoke, she threw out another explosive talisman, even higher than before, and the resulting fireworks were even bigger.
Kongling realized that this was an insult to her, and she was immediately furious: "You!"
Yuan Qi ignored her and walked up to Jiang Zhengqing, asking, "Father, what should we do with the thief who broke into a house at night?"
Jiang Zhengqing glanced at Kong Ling coolly: "I think she has ulterior motives and should be handed over to the Emperor for punishment. I will take her with me when I go to the morning court. By the way, could you put some kind of talisman on her so that she doesn't run away?"
Yuan Qi obediently pulled out a talisman and stuck it on Kong Ling's forehead: "Now she can't run away. But she can't move, so we need to find someone to carry her over."
Kongling angrily unleashed a string of profanities.
Yuan Qi said coolly, "Today's morning court was quite lively, Kong Ling. I might as well tell you first. Grand Secretary Bai also knows about Xiao Zhen's matter. I really don't know how the Emperor will deal with you. I have a feeling that the Emperor will kill you."
Kongling naturally knew that if the Emperor found out about this, it would be a very serious matter, so she softened her tone: "Everything can be discussed, Yuanqi. If I am in trouble, you will not benefit from it either. Why don't you let me go?"
Yuan Qi scoffed: "You're in trouble. I'm just watching the show. How come I don't benefit? You used a fake statue of the Three Pure Ones to harm my mother. I haven't even settled accounts with you for that yet. And you're saying I don't benefit?"
"What Three Pure Ones statue?" Jiang Zhengqing asked in a deep voice.
Yuan Qi then told the Emperor about the strange Buddha statue, feeling that it was time to let the Emperor know what the Wuji Palace was all about.
“Father, Wuji Palace harmed more than just my mother. Do you remember those days? Mother was obsessed with chanting scriptures, she was very devout, and she almost delayed my eldest brother’s marriage.”
"This matter cannot be left unresolved!" Jiang Zhengqing pointed at Kong Ling. "First, imprison her in the dungeon and keep her under strict guard."
Just in case, Yuan Qi also sealed Kong Ling's spiritual power with a talisman to prevent her from cheating and harming others.
"Good luck to you all. You disregard the law and show no respect for the Emperor; you're unlikely to have a good end."
Kongling was filled with regret. If she hadn't come tonight, would Wuji Palace have avoided disaster?
