Chapter 27 Food Street, Let's Be Honest

Zuo Chen has a photographic memory; when he looks at a person, he remembers their bone structure, not their physical appearance.

Therefore, he recognized Qu Jian'er at a glance.

He just didn't expect that when one of his men went out for a walk, he would run into Qu Jian'er and happen to see another side of her that was rarely known to others.

Zuo Chen had heard everything clearly from the moment Qu Jian'er set up her stall until now. His composure and calmness, cultivated through years of forbearance, were as unwavering as a mountain collapsing before him.

The stalls that Qu Jian'er set up had all collapsed long ago.

He swept his stray hairs to the top of his head, revealing his smooth forehead. His vintage silver-rimmed glasses, adorned with chains, added to his ascetic air, while the reflection in the lenses obscured his enigmatic gaze.

It gave him a false air of gentleness.

Amid the commotion outside the car, Zuo Chen touched the edge of his glasses, but smiled without saying a word.

His driver had changed; the younger driver had tanned skin honed by wind, sand, and the sun's rays. He sat awkwardly in the driver's seat, clearly unaccustomed to the luxury car.

The handsome young man said, "Boss, the shop where my brother works is just up ahead."

Zuo Chen's voice was cold and clear: "Qi Yin."

New driver Qi Yin tensed up: "We're here!"

Zuo Chen's tone was light and cheerful, revealing his good mood: "This isn't the Legion, so don't be shy. Guess who will come out on top in the commotion outside."

Qi Yin glanced sideways, finding it unbelievable. His boss, who held multiple positions and was usually stern and unsmiling, was actually paying attention to something exciting and even taking him along to watch the spectacle.

It must be raining red blood!

at this time.

Qu Jian'er's breathing remained unchanged, and her face showed no emotion, making it impossible to discern her hidden feelings.

Seeing his companion, he became extremely angry.

Lan Xiaodie, seeing the changes she couldn't keep up with, said, "Don't be angry, the stall owner must have meant no harm..."

She wanted to step forward and stop them.

Instead, she was pushed away by her companion.

Her female friend shouted, "We've known each other since the first year of high school, and you're taking the side of an outsider who's talking bad about me? Do you even consider me a friend?!"

Lan Xiaodie pursed her lips and remained silent. She also felt that she was being a bit inappropriate; she really should have sided with her friend.

However, she always felt that Qu Jian'er's words did not seem false; they sounded very plausible.

Her female companion continued, "This person is overcharging and cheating consumers; she probably doesn't even have a business license. She's also full of lies. I've seen plenty of people like her; she's definitely a liar!"

She had a loud voice, and deliberately amplified it. As she wished, more and more people gathered around.

Although the crowd did not understand why.

But that didn't stop them from whispering among themselves.

"I've heard that some people like to use the guise of fortune telling and face reading to swindle others. This time, it's even worse—a swindler stall owner who bullies students in broad daylight."

"They covered their faces completely, probably because they were afraid of embarrassing themselves. Tch, that's something else."

"Why didn't any urban management officers come to investigate? I'll be the first to stand up and support the students who were cheated and bullied!"

"Exactly! How dare she bully students? This isn't a lawless place! Expose her and get rid of her!"

Qu Jian'er was surrounded by the crowd, and it looked like someone was trying to take advantage of the chaos to steal her lucky hair clip.

"lay down."

Just two words.

Qu Jian'er silenced the noise and deterred those who wanted to steal.

The man stammered, "Who cares?!"

Qu Jian'er took off her sunglasses, her expression indifferent, like an executioner holding a sharp blade, ready to reap lives at any moment.

She looked down at the person in front of her without any pity, clearly not taking him seriously at all.

Everyone was alarmed.

Their legs felt like lead; they had only ever experienced this terrifying sight in movies.

Just one glance from Qu Jian'er felt as if bone spurs were growing from their leg bones, filling them with dread.

How is that possible?

After reprimanding those who wanted to slack off,

Qu Jian'er drew an invisible talisman in her palm and placed it on the shoulder of Lan Xiaodie's companion: "Here's a talisman for telling the truth. You're welcome."

The female companion laughed wildly: "What utter nonsense are you spouting? If you ask me, I'd like to take advantage of the crowd and bully you, unless I'm dead!"

These words were spoken.

The entire process was completely silent.

Lan Xiaodie didn't quite recognize her friend anymore. She bit her lower lip and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

She realized these were definitely not kind words, and she became quite confused.

The female companion grabbed Lan Xiaodie's shoulders forcefully: "You're asking me what happened? How dare you ask me?! It's all because of you selfish rich people. You're so rich, why don't you share some with us poor people!"

Lan Xiaodie's shoulder was a little sore from being gripped, but no matter how much it hurt, it was not as shocking as the person in front of her turning into a stranger.

She couldn't believe it, and cried out in pain and despair, "What are you saying? It hurts so much! Let go!"

The female companion glared fiercely at Lan Xiaodie: "I've already planned it all. I'll kidnap you tonight and use you to blackmail your parents. Damn it, it was so close! This person ruined everything, it's all because of her! I'm going to kill her!"

Qu Jian'er frowned and rubbed her wrist; her abilities had not fully recovered.

It's just because I used some of my strength to make the hair clip last night.

Today, just using the "Tell the Truth" talisman has exhausted most of her power.

She was almost completely drained.

She heard that someone wanted to kill her.

She chuckled softly, a hint of indescribable excitement in her laughter.

The female companion shoved Lan Xiaodie aside and glared at Qu Jian'er: "It's all because of you! If you hadn't spoken my thoughts, I wouldn't have used this as an excuse to target you. Blame yourself!"

The moment the words were spoken, the entire room erupted in uproar.
