Chapter 27: These three families are too strange!

Chapter 27: These three families are too strange!

The Zhao family fled down the mountain in a panic, cursing all the way. When they passed a fishpond, Uncle Zhao stopped and his mind came back to him: "Isn't this Zhao Dahai's fishpond?"

Uncle Zhao looked left and right, then nodded: "That's right, it's his family's!"

A group of people rushed home, then quickly brought back some things and frantically threw several packets of something into the room. The smell was pungent and unpleasant, like rat poison!

After he finished pouring, the sun came out and it got light. Uncle Zhao looked at the dead fish floating belly up on the water and laughed heartily.

"Big brother!" Uncle Zhao suddenly cried out in alarm, "Big brother! Fourth brother, fifth brother! You've got it all wrong! This isn't the ocean's fishpond! This is our own family's fishpond!"

Uncle Zhao's laughter froze. He looked around and then froze.

So they poisoned their own fish?!

More and more fish were floating belly up on the surface of the water. The brothers looked at the dead fish floating on the surface, and they looked at each other, speechless with grief.

The brothers walked home dejectedly. As they passed a small fishpond that had clearly just been cleaned, they paused and, in the sunlight, looked at each other to confirm: "This must be Dahai's family's, right?"

"That's right, it's his."

Uncle Zhao carried the bucket back to his fishpond, scooped up a bucket full of dead fish, and waved his hand, "Let's go!"

The brothers walked in silence, quickly, and soon arrived home.

When the children saw Uncle Zhao carrying a bucket full of fish, they cheered, "Yay! There's fish! Mom! Mom! Xiao Bao wants to eat fish! Quickly cook some fish for Xiao Bao!"

Uncle Zhao and his brothers watched blankly as their family members cleaned and cooked the fish. It wasn't until three large platters of fish were served and one of the children grabbed a handful and put it in his mouth that Uncle Zhao's second brother snapped out of his daze and shouted, "Don't eat this! The fish is poisonous!"

The brothers quickly realized what was happening and rushed over, knocking over all the freshly cooked fish. The children cried loudly, and Uncle Zhao picked them up one by one and spanked them. The hall was filled with the sounds of crying and chaos.

Suddenly, a shrill scream came from the kitchen: "Help! Auntie is dead!"

It turns out that when Li was cooking the fish, she couldn't resist sneaking a few pieces and was now foaming at the mouth and convulsing!

Calling doctors, pouring soap water on the wounds—the sounds of screams, cries, and curses filled the air, and the Zhao family was in complete chaos.

Fortunately, after a flurry of activity, Li came back to life, her face pale as she lay panting heavily amidst the filth.

Several young men, aged sixteen to twenty-two or twenty-three, looked at each other in bewilderment. One of them asked, "Second Uncle, why did you bring a poisonous fish home?"

Uncle Zhao was also confused, as were his other brothers.

They were clearly going to dump the dead fish into Zhao Dahai's fishpond, so why did they bring them home?

Uncle Zhao plopped down on the ground and burst into tears: "I was wrong! I was completely wrong! This third family is too evil. If any of you ever go near them again, I'll break their legs!"

Zhao Yunjing was unaware of what was happening with the Zhao family. He was worried that his uncle and the others would come again, so he stayed home and did some tinkering and banging around.

He used the large log he had previously dragged back to make a very thick manhole cover, the kind that even several children couldn't lift together, and he also made a wardrobe.

He moved into Zhou Mujiao's room while she was away. After looking around, he felt that she was still missing a desk and a dressing table, so he quietly went to plan the wood.

Zhou Mujiao found the wardrobe when she went into her room to find clothes to take a shower at night.

The wardrobe is 1.56 meters high and 1.56 meters long. The hanging and folding areas are arranged very reasonably. Except for the front, the other three sides of the top of the wardrobe have guardrails. The wardrobe is very simple, but it is very functional. The workmanship is also very good. The edges and corners are polished smooth and there are no splinters.

Zhou Mujiao remembered that she had mentioned wanting to buy a few wardrobes while chatting with Aunt Zhao, but now that things were going on, she could save that money.

Zhao Yunjing is a man who can handle both formal and domestic tasks. He can make tables, chairs, and counters, and he is also a skilled hunter. When danger comes, he will not run away but will stand in front of the danger. He is also so handsome and can take care of children. Where can you find a man like this?

Standing by the door, watching the figure sweating profusely under the moonlight, Zhou Mujiao's DNA stirred violently.

Zhao Yunjing seemed to sense something and suddenly looked up.

Their eyes met, and Zhou Mujiao's face flushed instantly. Zhao Yunjing, needless to say, was so flustered that he almost chopped his own leg with the knife.

Having not slept a wink all night, Zhou Mujiao lay awake until dawn, but she couldn't stay in bed any longer. She thought she'd get up and do some exercise, but Zhao Yunjing had gotten up even earlier than her and was already busy in the kitchen.

"Good morning, Brother Zhao."

She suddenly spoke, startling Zhao Yunjing, who dropped the spatula in his hand: "...Good morning."

Having lived two lives, this was the first time Zhou Mujiao had felt awkward. She cleared her throat and said, "Um, you're busy, I'll sleep a little longer."

Once they were out of each other's sight, they both breathed a sigh of relief. However, the awkward atmosphere between them lasted for two days, and everyone from Aunt Zhao to Xiao Wu could sense it.

Aunt Zhao pulled Zhao Yunjing aside: "Yunjing, did you bully Ajiao?"

“Mother, I don’t have any.” Zhao Yunjing’s eyes darted around. “The water in the fishpond should be clear now. I’ll go to the river and scoop some out to see if there are any fish fry.”

Aunt Zhao's eldest son had always been taciturn and stubborn. No one could get him to talk about things he didn't want to, and she was at her wit's end.

Just as Zhao Yunjing was about to leave with the buckets of water, Aunt Zhao had a sudden idea and called out into the house, "Ajiao! Yunjing is going to catch fish fry, go and help him!"

Eighteen and Xiao Wu also wanted to go, but Aunt Zhao assigned them other tasks. When they turned around, they found Zhao Yun Jing and Zhou Mu Jiao standing one in front of the other, with a distance of three or four zhang between them. She immediately shouted, "Yun Jing! Keep an eye on A Jiao, or your uncle and the others will get up to something again!"

These words had an immediate effect; Zhao Yunjing immediately turned back and walked behind Zhou Mujiao.

They remained silent the whole way, making the already awkward atmosphere even more awkward. Fortunately, the stream wasn't far away, and they arrived in just a few minutes after walking down the mountain. Zhou Mujiao didn't say anything either, took off her shoes and socks, and was about to go into the water when Zhao Yunjing stopped her: "You sit on the shore, I'll go down and retrieve it."

"Huh?" Zhou Mujiao blinked; she was genuinely puzzled.

“The water is too cold in the morning, it’s not good for a young lady.” Zhao Yunjing blushed as soon as she finished speaking, and then added, “My mother was in poor health because she always went to the river to wash clothes in the morning when she was at the Zhao family home, and she got sick from the cold.”

Zhou Mujiao suddenly realized: "Thank you, Brother Zhao. Then I won't go into the water. I'll pick some later too!"

"Um!"

Perhaps because the fish caught a few days ago were all large fish, this time they only caught small fry, about the size of two fingers. But that's fine, since they originally wanted to raise fish anyway.

The two loads were full. Zhao Yunjing originally didn't want her to carry them, but Zhou Mujiao insisted on helping, so Zhao Yunjing poured half of them out, leaving only half a bucket.

Zhou Mujiao picked up the bag and started to walk, but unexpectedly her foot slipped and she lost her balance instantly. Zhao Yunjing didn't think twice and rushed over to hug her.

The two of them poured themselves into the water, splashing water all over the river and startling a whole pond of fish.

Zhao Yunjing grabbed Zhou Mujiao's waist, and the two of them stood up from the water with a splash. Their clothes were soaked and stuck to their bodies!

Zhao Yunjing was about to check if she was injured when his gaze shifted slightly, and he quickly looked away. Just as he was about to speak, a cry of surprise suddenly rang out from not far away.
