Chapter 54 The Old Man

They pulled over their son who was sitting beside them in a daze: "Master, this is my son. He has been having nightmares every night for the past few days. Last night, he woke up in the middle of the night and scared his roommates."

He Yang looked at the woman in the video and didn't think she could see the problem with herself, but seeing the concerned look in his parents' eyes, he still sat in front of the phone honestly.

He preemptively said, "Master, as a young man of the new era, I used to not believe in ghosts and gods. Although my experiences in the past few days have shaken my mind, I don't think you, a young man, can solve my problem."

He's father kicked him on the leg and said, "You little brat, you have no respect for your elders. If you disrespect the master again, I will not care about you anymore."

Under the pressure from He's father, He Yang spoke honestly: "Master, what do you want to ask?"

Su Yan: "Since you don't believe me, just tell me about the strange things that happened in the past few days, and I'll see if I can deduce something else."

"I feel like this story should start from the day my deskmate returned to school."

He Yang looked at the table next to him that was covered with papers. "My poor deskmate, if you don't come back, you will never be able to repay the debt you owe."

A hand patted him on the back: "He Yang, I'm always so nice to you, but you don't know how to help me tidy up."

"Go away. My papers are all stuffed in the hole in the desk. I don't have the time to help you sort them out."

During evening study, Chen Haiqiang looked at his dazed deskmate and said, "I encountered something very strange on my way back to school today. Do you want to hear about it?"

When He Yang heard there was something to eat, he came over and said, "Tell me! Tell me!"

Chen Haiqiang lowered his voice and said, "You know, we usually have a fixed route to go home, but today the driver took an unrepaired road for some reason.

When we got to the small road, the weather suddenly turned down and it started to drizzle. The driver complained while speeding up.

When we walked onto the dirt road with trees on both sides, we saw an old man pushing a cart in front of the car.

He walked very slowly, step by step. The driver rang the bell several times, but he didn't even look back.

Because of his obstruction, the car could only move forward at a terrifying speed. I was very happy at that time, thinking that I could arrive at school later, but the person behind me who was in a hurry to do something was not satisfied.

Especially when the car reached a slope, the old man stopped, probably because he had run out of strength.

The impatient passengers could no longer sit still: "Workers on the bus, let's go help the old man push the bus up!"

As soon as I saw the aunt next to me trying to stand up, I immediately rushed out. All the women had gotten off, and it was so embarrassing for a young student like me to sit in the car.

Four of us got off and stood at the back and sides of the cart. The old man pulling the cart just nodded at us without looking back.

With our help, the old man's car was quickly pushed up the slope. On the way back, people next to him complained: "This old man is so rude. We helped him so much, but he didn't even say thank you."

When I got back to the car, I noticed everyone in the car looked grim. Since I was familiar with the driver, I went up to him and joked, "Master, is the car out of gas?"

The driver looked at me with an unprecedented serious expression: "Shut up, go back to your seat, and don't say anything for a while."

I wanted to ask why, but looking at his expression, I didn't say anything. When I returned to my seat, I looked up and found that the old man had disappeared.

I rubbed my eyes vigorously. There was still no one in front of us. We were walking on a straight road. There was no fork in the road. There were tall corns on both sides. It was impossible for the old man to push the cart into the cornfield with his physical condition just now.

I looked at the people who had just gone down to push the cart, and the fear in their eyes was clearly visible.

The driver kept muttering, "Sorry for the rudeness, please give me some space." When we reached the end of the woods, we found that there was a cemetery in front of us.

I was so scared that my heart almost jumped out of my throat. I forced myself to look to the right. What made me even sadder was that opposite the cemetery was a crematorium with all kinds of boxes placed outside.

I could only close my eyes and hope to escape from this weird place as soon as possible.

Looking at the village not far away, the driver breathed a sigh of relief: "It's okay now."

He looked at the passengers with worried faces and said comfortingly, "It's almost the Ghost Festival now. The ghosts from the underworld will come up to visit their families. The old man just now probably wanted to experience his past life.

Besides, we didn't disrespect him just now, and if you go down and help him push the cart, he won't bother you."

Chen Haiqiang looked at his deskmate who was listening intently, and whispered in his ear in a sinister tone, "Tell me, I walked through such a large cemetery. Will there be any curious ghosts following me back?"

"He Yang, what are you two doing with your heads huddled together? If you have anything to say, don't say it in secret. Go to the podium and let the whole class hear it."

The two looked up and found their homeroom teacher standing next to them. They smiled awkwardly at the teacher and pretended to look at the test paper on the table.

He Yang continued, “I was so engrossed in what I was hearing, the teacher’s shout made my heart beat so fast that I could even hear the “thump thump” sound.

In order to avoid being looked down upon by my deskmate, I pretended not to be afraid: "You are a grown man and you are so timid, aren't you ashamed? I am not afraid of these things."

After bragging, I felt a little uncomfortable. When I was about to leave the evening study session, I suddenly heard someone calling my name.

I turned my head to look in the direction of the sound, but there was no one I knew there.

"Chen Haiqiang, did you hear someone calling me just now?"

Chen Haiqiang shook his head: "No, you must have heard it wrong."

Then, as if he had thought of something, he said excitedly: "He Yang, have you heard of ghosts calling people? It means that the ghost is calling your name from behind, and if you agree, it will haunt you.

You said, is it because you just said you were not afraid, and they want to teach you a lesson?

After hearing his words, even though I was terrified, I still spoke forcefully, "How could I be afraid? Just let him come find me. I'll show him how powerful I am."

When I went to bed at night, the more I thought about it, the more scared I became, so I curled up in the quilt.

In the middle of the night, I heard someone calling my name again, and someone tried to pull my quilt down. I held the quilt tightly and dared not show my head.

The next day, I secretly apologized to the ghosts outside and asked them to forgive my outspokenness.

I thought they would leave after I admitted my mistake, but unexpectedly, an old lady appeared in my dream that night and forced me to get up in the middle of the night to write something."
